Autism and task switching can be super difficult, here are some tips to help you! @discoverbrillia8327 www.discoverbrillia.com [CODE: ASPIE15 for 15% OFF!] For shipments to the UK please email info@discoverbrillia.com
Switching between tasks and even just performing tasks for autistic people can be very difficult.
This is because of the amount of information that can be flowing to an autistic person at any one time can cause confusion in understanding what the task is and then having to switch.
But there is a large set of anxiety and stress related to switching tasks for autistic person this is because what is that people enjoy routine and structure and like to complete one task before moving onto another task when they are ready.
There are ways in which we can help overcome this switching of task issues which I have detailed below.
1. Set Task Timer
Using a timer to allow you to have a visual guide of how much time you need to spend on a task is excellent for autistic adults and children and will help you know that a switch in task is coming up.
2. Brillia
I use brillia to help keep me calm and stress free during the day to help with things that may pop up like, change in routine or switching tasks.
3. Visual Task Planner
Creating a visual planner of all the tasks that you will be performing in a row will allow you to see what is next and when you are going to switch that will help the transition.
I’d love to know your thoughts on everything, please pop it in a comment down below if you have any. Follow @TheAspieWorld for more autism content.

I don't generally have too much of a problem switching tasks when I decide to, but it's definitely a problem when this happens at work and it's a forced situation. I can get very grumpy and feel completely dislocated.

For anyone with the same Problem; search for "pda" (pathological demand avoidance). I know the term isn't that nice but there's good information documented from within people with ASD.

My problem is getting interrupted!! If anyone stops me. It's hard to go back to what I was doing. I've tried hard to share I clean the house REALLY well, IF I'm home alone. If not, I don't even want to try! I do use a timer, always have! I do 15 minutes at a time though. But have something fun/ enjoyable to do for at least an hour between tasks.

Or repetition like tapping! Or not holding still when next to me! I can't stay calm if my son tries to sit by me, because he can't stop moving! Errr but I try to let him because I love him. Although, I can only take so much. It takes up all my concentration trying to mentally get him to stop moving or move somewhere else. If course is never worked, but I do it anyway. Lol

@@Posmlady My auditory sensory issues have more to do with limited frequency registry. Love loud music, but don't hear certain frequencies so well. Don't do well with being yelled/screamed at. Most of my issues are focusing, short-term memory, motor skills, and general lack of social cue awareness. Can't read others' moods to save my life, and have a hard time with relationships. Had lots of issues in school and beyond. This has been purgatory even before discovering there's nothing that can be done to help it.

Know that not all people can see beyond themselves. Educate yourself on personality disorders (cluster a, b and c). Once you understand these personality disorders go someplace neutral like a mall and watch people interact. Not all people have your back or even care. It’s very important to set boundaries and stick with them. Some do not care about boundaries and those people will never respect anyone. They are quite often abusive. The word no is not a bad word. Walk away from them.

My therapist thought I might adult ADD, but as I was looking for tools related to that, this came up. I feel so much more connected to this than everything I found on ADD! Task switching has been SUCH a problem - to the point I'm not sleeping. Def going to ask if I could have some version of autism.

I just wanted to thank you. Recently my therapist sugested that I might have Asperger's syndrome. He asked me to think about it. I couldn't figure out, if he was right, no matter how much I searched. Then I found your videos. Everything clicked. I got properly diagnosed last week. All those years I felt like a weirdo. A burden. Many people made this feeling so much worse. 21 years my self esteem suffered a lot. I am not even going to metion my mental health. My parents said couple of times that they had no idea what to do. How to help. How to comunicate with me. After hearing the diagnosis I saw relief on their faces. I also felt it. Things are still hard, but at least I can get proper support. Again, thank you. I wish you the best.

You must go nuts watching movies then! I swear one thing in movies that drives me batty is when someone is drawing blood and the needle is basically positioned to go through the vein and not into it!! Or they call another type of animal by the wrong name. For instance, there is a HUGE difference between a rat, mouse and guinea pig!! Lol I'd love to fix all the prop issues in movies!! They should make a job specifically for an Autistic person to FIX what they do wrong! In all areas of business would be great! Just hand me your mess and walk away and I'll make it the way it's supposed to be! They just don't pay attention to details!! Sorry for ramble!

Dan, could you do a video on autism vs CPTSD? I cant afford to get testing done. Theres a lot of overlapping traits. I mean, Im pretty sure its ASD, or both, if anything, because I can apply many asd traits to how I was as a child, long before developing cptsd. But I also never considered or even thought of being autistic until after the cptsd changed me. Would help to hear it all laid out, compared.

I have PTSD too. I’ve found working on both separately has helped. DBT/CBT skills along with practicing daily self care helps with PTSD. I discovered while practicing these skills that I had sensory processing issues and some other symptoms of autism. By following the hacks Dan suggests for autism combined with DBT/CBT skills I have better understanding of how I work. It doesn’t heal either one but it helps me get through the day without judging myself for being this way. I’m not like everyone else but I don’t have to let this become a target for others who may be equally in their own problem world. I’m still working on not being triggered by narcissistic, sociopathic, psychotic people. For me recognizing them and avoiding them at the moment is the best I can do.

Hey this is the story of an aspergers from India.. Today after watching this video I am 101 percent sure that I have aspergers. I have some self realisation 1. 90 percent of time my brain becomes stuck/overwhelmed due to n number of thought processing at one point of time.. So that I forgot who I am? I fee lost.. Struggle to keep track of my thinking/feelings 2. I can remember a lot of situation specially in the office where I feel so overwhelmed that I go to washroom to catch some breath/hold my head in a situation I know I can't handle myself. 3.I believe I am not able to understand the feeling of people if they are joking around/serious/ .. I always go very deep into the meaning of conversation with someone so I fail to crack the essence of the topic. 4. I feel most of the time I am very egoistic and can't take jokes etc.. Because I feel nobody is understanding me and my feelings. 5. I don't understand that nobody has the power to hurt me and most of the time they don't want to because they also have feelings. 6. I discovered that it is the fluctuations of emotions which are controling me like sudden joy/anger/jealousy/insecurity etc. 7. If someone's praise can't make me happy why should I worry if they scold me?? 8. I believe mixing with kindhearted non aspie people making me understand jokes/more emotions/helping me to take quick decision etc. 9. Most vital thing in this condition is self hurting feelings which overflows all the time and being unnecessary critical of yourself thinking about how others will dislike me 10. I again believe that I have realized these things very late on my thirties which I should have realised probably in my teen age. I blame my condition/bad upbringing /lacknofself awareness for this late realisation.. 11. MY GOAL IS TO UNDERSTAND THE WORLD BETTER AND BE MORE EMPHATIC TOWARDS OTHERS... Love ❤❤❤ to all

I thought that maybe I had ADHD again now even though years ago I was put on Adderall and Straterra and it didn't help me and I was told I didn't have ADHD then soon after I was diagnosed with Asperger's. Having said that this video confirms what issue I have. I can't help being hyper focused on a task until I think about something else I need to do and then I just switch to that, also if I get interrupted it's hard to get back to the same thing, I probably go to whatever else I think of at that moment to do. It's very frustrating. I love these tips, though.

It's true that externally imposed structure is Very helpful to me. Lacking that externally imposed structure is so very hard. I learned to tune pianos, and the amount of executive function that is required there is immense. And then there is the issue of money - I hate it. It is a social construct that is used to judge the value of human beings that has no intrinsic meaning - it is just used to divide those who get to have the necessary things, and those who don't. I hate it, find it hugely triggering and offensive (let me get off the fence, here....). Now, I have an issue with this Brillia stuff you're talking about. I am a died-in-the-wool rule-follower (except when the rules are obviously bad - like not correcting a teacher who says that alcohol consumption numbs your nerves, so you don't feel that you're cold when you're on the mountain in wintertime - I was even polite and face-saving) and I take a lot of meds, for the same list of diagnoses that you have. My father is a doctor. Anything you take, including foods, have chemical influences on your brain and the rest of your body. I am very careful to keep what I take in regular, and avoid alcohol almost exclusively because of being cautious with medication interactions. Brillia sounds too much like a placebo that they won't tell you what it is, and that can be very dangerous. - I am also very depressed right now. And I need to eat, or things will get worse - I do really like your content, and yoru hacks make me want to cry.

Is the Brillia safe for pregnant woman and is it available in the U.S? I cant take antidepressants and I think alot of times I just deal with depression from not being able to control my anxiety and not being able to function right. I hear you talk about this alot and it sounds very helpful. I figure if they have one safe for kids then its prob safe for pregnant people? I just would like to make sure. Though I am sure it is way safer than Zoloft they try to prescribe for me which I cant take and is really bad for me. I have ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression and cptsd and was diagnosed as a kid with dyslexia

There has not been any real formal evaluation for safety in any respects for Brillia. Only studies I've dug up (not any exhaustive searching mind you) have shown little effect compared to placebo or had ASD as an exclusion criteria. It hasn't been evaluated by the FDA. As with all things you might ingest to have an effect on brain chemistry, consult a doctor.

Like, I'm currently trying to do a bunch of different reading/learning things and I never seem to finish anything because when I need to break to go eat or sleep or something, I'll come back and want to do something else "real quick" which chases me down a rabbit hole. Similar thing when it comes to cleaning. I'll see a big mess and won't know where to start. It literally overwhelms me.

The truck is my home away from home and I got alot of stuff. My company gave me a brand new truck in honor of my 1 million mile milestone last week and it took me 6 hours to move my stuff from old truck to new one. I'm really slow to figure out a starting point and pattern to work off of.

My boyfriend and I recently took an online personality test called "16 personalities" and while I'm not sure either of us are on the spectrum (possibly him, but we don't know), the personality test was good in shedding light on why we do some things the way we do them. It showed how we are just made different, and helped us understand each other better. It has different sections in the results including romantic relationships, work, friends, and parenting. Maybe it would shed some light on your relationship too? Sorry you're going through that. I've been dating my man about 11 years now, and he wants to marry me but I'm still trying to come to a decision (most of that took place long distance). Hope you find your answer soon!! ❤

A medication company can sponsor people??? This feels incredibly iffy ; -; Here in France you NEED to consult a doctor to get meds like these, and if it's an ad (which are usually for cold meds and pain meds); there is a CLEAR WARNING to talk to your doctor/pharmacian about it. And if you need specific meds for a specific condition, like anxiety or depression, you get those from a doctor who gives you a paper which allows you to get those meds for free.
