It’s lovely to raise awareness, a lot of people think the puzzle piece is the main symbol so don’t feel bad. The most important thing is to raise awareness. Xoxo

I just wanted to let you know that the puzzle piece isn't the preferred symbol for autism. Autism Speaks is a eugenics group and they're who popularized it. Most autistic people prefer the rainbow infinity symbol instead

Agreed - I understand the sentiment and thank you for raising awareness! But sadly the puzzle piece promotes a view of autistic people as something that needs solving or fixing. Infinity represents how diverse the presentations of autistic people can be! Thank you for reading ❤

I have 2 children on the spectrum. My daughter is 8, and on the more severe side, and my 15 year old son, is higher functioning. We prefer the puzzle pieces, actually. The infinity symbol, while I understand the meaning when it comes to autism, is actually a symbol used mostly for love. My son says the puzzle pieces, in his opinion, are symbols for people and how someone with autism can still fit in with anyone else and how important it is to have every piece, to complete the puzzle. Without having all the different pieces, you'll never have a full picture. When it comes to his and my daughters relationship, he says the puzzle pieces show that they stick together and make things look more beautiful together. Basically, people are all different, just the same as someone with autism is, so everyone looks at symbols with different perspectives and meanings.

Yes, there are different opinions on the puzzle piece. My autistic 17 year old hates it because they don’t want to be made to ‘fit’.

@jenniferfuller2254 respectfully, I would ask that you listen to more autistic people. Decent majority of us don't like "person with autism" or euphemisms like "on the spectrum." Functioning labels, as well, are incredibly damaging. There are autistic people who like the puzzle piece but the majority of us don't like it's ties to AS, which is a hate group that wants us eradicated.

I actually have 2 children with ASD. My 15 year old son, and my 8 year old daughter. Today has been pretty rough, so seeing this actually made me smile. I couldn't agree more with what you said.
