Ian tests his outdoor gear he got for his birthday. These basics can save lives, but it's also important to remember that not all on the autism spectrum will be able to use these tools, so adjust accordingly. Let us know any tips for survival when getting lost you find useful.

That's so cool, that you're teaching your kids about survival tools and techniques! And not just that, but also safety too! I love that you guys are such good parents (there's so many less-than-stellar ones out there), and your kids are all so sweet & amazing! I love watching your videos/channel, thank you so much for sharing! 🙂

I have High Functioning Autism (went through basic training in the Army in my 20s, wasn't tested and diagnosed until my early 40s). But I've been thinking I really should get out into the woods here in western Kentucky. Hard part is wanting to do it alone while on blood thinner... lol. Have just about everything a person could possibly need for long term survival or just completely starting over again in life...

I feel that it is very smart to learn how to survive outdoors, since over the last 100 years we've became too reliant on the supermarket and other modern conviences inorder to survive, unlike our great great grandparents who knew how to survive without our modern conviences. I am trying to learn survival skills, and one of the survival skills I plan on learning is to learn to identify wild mushrooms that are safe to eat.

I actually have a emergency whistle come in my backpack and also on came in a first aid kit I once got, I always carry a first aid kit with me in my coat pocket for if I need to administer first aid to which I've had to use my training a few times I have undergone first aid for healthcare professionals as I work in a job that I would have a duty to respond as part of my job due to the level of my training I have recived I can use the 15:2 ratio on a child but I can up it to 30:2 if I feel like they need more compressions.

When I was just a little kid I would sometimes eat little wild mushrooms that grew in our front yard, until my mother caught me eating those little wild mushrooms that grew on our yard and had told me that not all wild mushrooms are safe to eat.

Rob, you are an amazing father. All kids are so curious to learn life lessons. I have been watching for 2 years and sometimes older videos. Your patience and hard work is astonishing. You are not scared of autism like I do. I hope one day I will be proudly saying I am not afraid anymore and my kid will live best life after I am gone. ❤
