The predictive brain model discusses autism as one end of sensory input and schizophrenia as the opposite. Autism is heavily reliant on the external sensory input and schizophrenia is about the internal reliance of perception. Very interesting stuff

Thankyou. I've been married for 50 years to a man diagnosed with autism after 35 years of marriage. We started seeing counsellors, psychologists, and psychiatrists after 5 years of marriage. The second last psychologist had a different diagnosis every second week - developmental issues, personality disorder then, finally, autism. We went to Tony Atwood's "Minds and Hearts" clinic for a definitive diagnosis, Brisbane, Australia. Thank you so much.

Am i normal, or am i not normal? How can i know where i stand. Do i want to know. What does it mean to be a way. Im doing ok, would it change me if someone else thought i was not. Am i schizoid? Am i autistic? Am i artistic? How much meaning does a lable have? How much anxiety would be aleaveated if i had a diagnosis? Who is qualified to say? How do i know who i should trust. Life is a strange fruit.

Could you please discuss acquired neurodiversity in regards to trauma responses such as PTSD. Is this actually a clinical term? There are a lot of 'charlatans' giving contradicting 'expertise' on this topic but I believe that your lectures/videos are always much more factually accurate. My daughter was born with the full mutation of the Fragile X Syndrome, and I am the carrier. She was diagnosed with the Syndrome under two years old and diagnosed with ASD and Global Developmental Delay under three years old. Now, lots of early intervention ahead.

Prof., I am always intrigued by your delivery of any topic you discuss. So informative. This specific topic however is very dear to me. My 19yo son is autistic..My 30 year marriage has just ended, not by my choice. I have concluded that my husband is a covert narcissist but now I am somewhat concerned that he on the spectrum as well. I actually have heard him question his self if he was autistic. There are so many different factors that you talk about that has my mind spinning. He has gone no contact with me so I am left to try and figure out what has happened. I was never given and explanation for the cause. I was blamed somehow and discarded. Although I have not studied psychology, I am very gifted at reading people. Not minds but emotions and physical actions. My family would be a perfect example to be studied in regards to autism/narcissism and possible correlation. I am learning from your videos and will continue to study your teachings to try and figure out what is happening with my family that I love dearly. Thank you for your content. The males in my family present as asperges. Father and brothers. Ive been told by friends who are special ed teachers that I present with some features. If I have, it's mostly textile and auditory overload. Mother had rubella as a teenager, 10 years before her first birth. Interesting, thankyou.

So what do you tell late diagnosed adults or Self diagnosed adults with Autism, I'm late "Self diagnosed" Autistic, are we all delusional. I'm a 56 year old female and from childhood learning disabilities, very clumsy, sensory issues, stomach issues , joint issues and I could go on , but in short I have, I would say most of the indicators of Autism, I was diagnosed with ADHD when in my 20's. I take after my father except for learning disabilities and ADHD and both my parents were in their 20's when they had me , I know I'm rambling but it's very important to me to have some sense of self and now, can I trust a professional if even the professionals don't know ? P.S. My husband was diagnosed with "Asperger's" in the 70's/80's. 3:36 /80's

The point about age difference increasing autism in children i can relate to. I know a family that their mom couldn't bare kids for like a decade after marriage. Eventually had 4 kids, but each kid had... their quirks. The second child passed away from a medical condition later developed in life. The last child has zero to negative social skills. The third child well... she can't see it, but I'll gamble my life savings that she's autistic. Never met the first child. Oh! And their late dad was given birth with like a 20+ year gap from his eldest brother.

My daughter is suspected to have complex autism disorder. However, the clinicians do not want to make a diagnosis because it is mildly pronounced. She was born in Brussels in June 1999, where there was a dioxin scandal in May 1999. Are there any studies in Brussels on whether there has been an increase in cases of complex autism disorder after the scandal?

in my case (commenting around the beginning of vid) I'm in a family where everyone has adhd/autism- so it's inherited to have both for me lol it's neurodevelopmental- so it's in relation to how your brain develops which vaccines absolutely have no influence on whatsoever and I've no clue why some people still think this to this day

For us, non experts it’s hard to tell the difference, anw as you said avoid from abusive people and takers and set boundaries to protect yourself, learn the 4 pillars of self love and integrate them. Seems like a long road after being abused however it’s attainable.
