I totally get what you mean about absurd humor! I am obsessed with it. One story that always makes me laugh is: My family was on vacation and we stopped at a KFC to dine in. My sister and I were sitting by a window and we noticed a big fly desperately slamming itself against the window. My sister calmly says "Yeah I don't want anything to eat here if the flies are trying to escape..." That KFC was so cursed lol. There was a British family arguing with the cashier about the fact that the corn was not on the cob and how they wanted FRIES not "whatever these fat potatoes are" (potato wedges) That was like 20 years ago and it's still so funny.

My sense of humor has almost gotten me into trouble. Not that I said or did anything bad, but I laugh at some of the darkest and socially unacceptable things. For instance: The scene in the first Taken movie where the bad guy being chased jumps off a bridge, onto a truck, jumps into the street, looks up, then gets hit by another truck. I was the only one in the theater that burst out into hysterics. It was just so unexpected and in relation to then scene, just didn’t fit. The complete tone shift was funny. It was the subversion of my expectations. The whole theater stared at me like I was insane. People always get thrown off or uncomfortable with me self deprecating humor because I see the objective humor in it. Will be like “ohhh dont say that!” Why not? Lmao it’s a joke, laugh, I’m clearly not bothered if I’m the one making the joke. I just like to find humor in places where others wouldn’t or dont.

I’m so angry people got mad at you for laughing at truck slapstick Jesus that’s funny The allistic assumption of like “ohhh they think it’s funny to see grotesque death” is so completely baffling to me as a read of that scenario. Like, otherworldly unrelatable. But the allistic thing of being able to compartmentalize being told when to feel tragedy and when to feel comedy, and that you need/should expect someone else to inform them on when those feelings should come is so… (creepy?) weird. Like I can’t see how it wouldn’t strike even the person experiencing that (if they were real ) as absurdist humor. And it’s LAYERED absurdist humor that also grounds a person in the reality of the larger world. - the trucks betrayed him. A friend and then an enemy - of course a truck driver with no concept of this random guy would stop his world preemptively not to hit him. The main character syndrome of deadass just jumping into the street is ALSO funny

Thanks for sharing! My sense of humour os very dark, twisted satire type stuff. There was a lot of great stuff around in the 90s in the UK that just doesn't exist any more. really really dry sense of humor sends me every time like if i see a rock on the ground, i’ll go “me if i was a rock” and just lose it. really sudden and off the wall shit also makes me laugh, like things that are just so out of place or violent, but not in a super crazy or gory way, like just someone running into a wall or something. those one memes on reddit that are like heavily distorted pictures and captions that have nothing to do with the picture send me. there’s one of meghan trainor and it’s like “how to make slime with no glue or borax” and i can’t even finish reading it without laughing EVERY single time. also other people laughing makes me laugh. i don’t even need to know what’s funny, and the fact that im dumb enough to laugh at just a laugh makes me laugh even more.

7:30 My cat died a week or two ago, and i feel like this would've made me feel so much better😭 Btw my best friend and i were joking and he matched my "cry till you can no more" and "funny haha I'm coping". Literally one of the jokes i made was how that "My cat just died" "get a new one" tiktok audio is me but i never thought I'd be on the other side Another absurd moment of us vcing was this, my ipad camera picks up hand gestures and shows things like 2 peace sign means fireworks, one is balloons, etc and i was crying like sobbing my heart out, describing and venting on how i could not catch a break, literally my life is going downhill and i go "i can't do it any longer, i need a break, i can't-" with my hand over my mouth AND MY IPAD'S CAMERA WENT 👍 because my thumb was slightly up The way both me and my bestie held back. He was mortified and cackling and i was holding back a wheeze saying "God if you-" like i didn't just complain about God doing the most right after my cat died to show me shit that i would not see on the daily (about animals)😭😭😭

That being said I do struggle to understand things when people refer to it as specifically associated with a particular neuro-diversity as I haven't the experience or background. But I think if we can both laugh at things that we find funny we've got that. Not a criticism and I'm happy to be educated.
