auto fish feeder for the reef aquarium

Automatic fish feeders.
I take a look at four different units resun, Jewel, JBL, and Eheim, what’s the difference what one to choose?

Good review but I would definitely NOT recommend using the EHEIM feeder which seems to be the least reliable and the worst designed of the four of them. I saw some other video reviews of this feeder and it's quite obvious to me there is an issue with adjusting the aperture to let the correct amount of food to go out and especially for food in flakes. If the aperture is not wide enough it can easily get blocked by bigger flakes and if the aperture is too wide it will drop out too much food which is not good for the fish and neither for the maintenance of the tank in general. There should be a kind of an internal compartment inside of the food container to portion the amount of food to be released and not just directly from the whole container when it takes a turn. I also think the food can quickly build up around the slot with the humidity coming from the tank and this would prevent the food from coming out completely. I would definitely not trust using this feeder for a longer period of time when I'm away from home.

yoututubus the Eheim feeder has worked very well since this video on my clients tank but I have only used pellets that are all a uniform size I can appreciate that flakes of different sizes could cause an issue and humidity adding to the problem. To be fair I think these things are really best used as a means to feed when you are away from the tank and unable to do it manually and not to be relied on as a permanent feeder.

@@raisingreef339 thanks for your comment and the feedback. I believe this feeder can work well with pellets, but for flakes it's definitely not good enough. That was my main concern as I feed my fish mainly with flake food and they don't seem to like pellets and they also drop down to the bottom of the tank very quickly. I'd much more recommend using the Resun feeder for flake food as it has an internal compartment within the main container which portions the food just fine and doesn't get blocked with flakes. I use it frequently when I go away on holiday and even up to 2 weeks without any issues. I just wouldn't use the EHEIM for flake food.
