Auto Invert / Upside down ! FlyWing FW450L-V3 'SMART' RC Helicopter | For Beginner and Expert Pilots

Jason flies the FW450 for the third time...this time trying to fly inverted! Inverted flight feature did not work on our last flight. Transpires that Fly Wing do not enable this feature out of the box. You need to switch it on my connecting your desktop PC/laptop to the flight controller using the provided USB cable and running the H1-Heli EN software v1.81 application found at the link below. Once connected you can turn on the ability to go Inverted with this heli in GPS mode but only after accepting the warning.

I had also updated the software using the new version provided by Fly Wing. As Jason tells us, the flight characteristics are better. What Fly Wing did not tell me was that the minimum height for Invert has been changed to 5 metres. In version 2 of the software this value will be configurable by the owner.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior to flight we switched off 'low battery protection' because of the cold weather. Voltage detection does not work well on cold days and this heli will go into automatic return to home if it detects low voltage. For this heli it would climb to 10 metres as part of the return to home process. If you do this please ensure you time your flight to minimise chances of damaging the flight battery by taking cell voltages below 3.7 volts.

Well, it worked this time! I must admit I admire the technology rather more than helicopter flying per se but it must be a great way to start flying bigger helis than V911 1S ones I've flown indoors in the winter. Electronics has changed a lot since I was building one valve receivers when I was still at school in the early 50s :) Another great and highly entertaining video - thanks.

Thanks for the video. This technology is amazing, given the skill that would be required to fly inverted on a conventional RC Heli. It was amusing to hear Jason's' surprise 1:45 when told how the sticks would operate when the heli is inverted. As an amateur, I would be pleased that pushing down on the stick would make the heli go down and not up 😀 It just goes to show how Jays' brain is used to the opposite in this scenario.

Yeah...glad I told him that before he switched to Inverted but we did it above 10 metres so nothing bad was going to happen.

I just installed one in my TREX 500 and hope it stays in place this well. Went out and purchased a long wire GPS module because it was too close to the tail servo. Crossing my fingers!!!

The newer ones have a hole in the top of the canopy so you can see the LED better. Just FYI

I have the smaller version of this, the FW200. Obtaining GPS takes a long time, which is a little frustrating. Hopefully this latest model gains it quicker. The drop-down canopy will also save time when changing batteries.

Takes 10-20 seconds for us. A lot quicker than other fixed wing models we have GPS installed in. Not an inconvenience. Yes on the canopy. It's quite clever. The battery is held on a tray, with 2 velcro straps, that slides out that clips into place with a latch.

Bad ESC Canopy needs Cooling FAN ESC runs very hot first less than 8 mins started in flight smoking lucky I did not crash new FW450 3 dose not air cool like the older canopy's are better more air coming in had to replace ESC on first flight good luck in finding the part cant find any where The ESC is V3 is different Than the V2 ESC worth less Heli at over 600.00
