Approved! 2022 Road Glide Limited w/ Stage 1. This tuner works flawlessly for me. The Stage 1 tune from HD is good, but so much better after I used this tuner. Much smoother and responsive throttle. Some folks have issues with the app, but usually it's their phone/ blue tooth that's the problem. Also, I've heard, keeping the screen awake while doing the recording is key. I purchased the optional cable to allow tuning on my laptop as well, but the blue tooth and phone app is more than sufficient.

Great video! Made my install tune easy peasy after watching. Thank you! Just actually did the tune and will test ride tomorrow. Only odd thing is after the tune, I had 1 historic code in the app that was not present beforehand. I know this because I checked being I saw somewhere while researching that someone had the same issue...figures I can't find that now but at least I know there were no codes present before applying the tune. The code is P1100 -abs indicates torque control fault. I cleared the code and turned bike on and off and code did not return. Wherever I read this from another post, the code returned after he had rode the bike and continues to have to clear it. Odd. Hopefully, that will not be the case for me. Have you heard of this happening to others Rick? Appreciate any 411 and again, thanks for the video! I quickly subscribed after watching!

@HDVIBE10 ай бұрын
With auto tuning you should be fine. The stock HD head pipes actually flow very well even with the cat in them. Without the cat you should feel a reduction in heat coming off the right side of the bike. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍

@HDVIBE10 ай бұрын
@user-ng8iq9bw4p The smart tune feature should work just fine. As Joe noted, he was able to run the smart tune on his 2023 CVO Road Glide with the VVT engine. Basically the smart tune reads parameters as you ride and records the info. Then based upon that recorded info, the tuner will adjust VE tables and then upload the adjusted map to the ECM...then you are good to go. Thanks for subscribing and I look forward to seeing your comments on other and future videos. ✌️👊👍

I was apprehensive about getting one of these for my new Heritage Classic, because of the negative reviews on HD's own website. I went ahead and ordered the tuner and look forward to installing it. I plan on doing the basic tune first and then the smart tune afterwards.

Thanks for ll the important info. Bought a '23 Lowrider S with 800 miles on it. Had a 2BR shorty exhaust. The dealer gave me the screaming eagle tuner in the original box. Does the tuner stay plugged in to the bike or is it removed? I'm pretty lame when it comes to this. Don't even have a smart phone. Really cold in Idaho and I can't see the techs riding this bike around for 30 mins. I've already rode the bike 90 miles in freezing weather. Runs good, but idles weird. Hope I didn't hurt anything if they didn't complete the process. After I paid the dough, now they aren't real cooperative. Thanks.

Thanks for watching and commenting. So you can leave the tuner on the bike but you don't have to do so. If you run a Smart Tune session you must leave it on the bike as shown in the video. Thanks Scott for watching, commenting and subscribing. Congrats on the new bike. My guess is the breather is a high flow so probably no real necessity to change it out. @HDVIBE2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. If the bike is completely stock, I would see no reason to put a tune on a bike. Typically a tune is "required" when you do a full Stage 1 upgrade which would be upgrading the exhaust and the intake. At that point you have changed the amount of air coming into the bike and exiting through a freer flowing exhaust system...so a tune is necessary. I ran with the Tab 2-1-2 and BAM sticks on the base Stage 2 harley map (I had the Stage 2 upgrade completed before I changed to a full tab system) and frankly the bike ran well even before the smart tune sessions. Rick, How about an update on this tuner? How many smart tunes have you run and added to your base map? Do you think adding smart tunes has made a difference or should I just ride with the base map? I am running a 114 stage 2 and it's running pretty good...
@HDVIBE7 ай бұрын
Hey Luke thanks for the question. I've run 2 smart tune sessions at this point. I'd say if the bike is running well with the base map...just keep running it as is. I think of the smart tune as a way to fine tune AFR based upon your riding style. I also have the RGS with a Stage 2 upgrade. Ran with base map for about a year and bike was running very well. I just ran a few smart tune sessions on it just to get it just a bit more fine tuned for my riding style. I'm sure if you did before and after dyno runs, you may see some slight improvement, but it's probably not enough that you would feel it under regular riding conditions. 👊✌️👍

Thanks for watching and commenting. I have known people to use this tuner with a 2 into 1 exhaust system. First load the Stage 1 map for your particular bike. I'd suggest running the base map for a couple of tanks of fuel. If it's running well...you can leave it with that. If you want to dial it in a bit more, then run the smart tune. Remember, this tuner is for 2021 and newer bikes. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. I’m subscribed, I’m looking at this tuner to buy, but not sure if it would help , I got a 2023 low rider st , I just put a full 2 in 1 exhaust, my question is, do I need to change my air breather or can I keep the original one on, to tune it ? Thank you in advance, great video by the way .
@HDVIBE2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing. The tuner will definitely help even if you don't change out the breather. You would start by loading the base Stage 1 map. Then run with that for at least 2 tanks of fuel or around 400 or so miles. If the bike is running well...then leave it alone. If you want to run some smart tune sessions you can also do that after the 400 or so miles. I found throttle response is much improved after loading the stsge 1 map. the 117 FXLRST comes with a Heavy Breather intake, which is already a high flow intake. The restriction on that model is in the slip-on exhaust pipes, which is why you DO NEED a tuner when replacing just the slip-on pipes........ many people will say "you don't need a tune if only doing slip-on"....thats not true on the FXLRST.

Thanks for watching and commenting. As soon as I stopped recording and uploaded the adjustments to the base map following the prompts. The next time I started up the bike, the red security light was off. I'm guessing the bike is still in record mode which is what causes the security light to stay on. If it's not in record mode, I'd suggest putting the bike into diagnostic mode and see if you have any codes that need to be cleared as a result of something else going on. I'll link a video on how to do that as well for you.

can you tune a off road catlass exhaust with this tuner
@HDVIBE7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. As to your question, I run a catlees headpipe on my other bike and the screamin eagle tune does fine. Frankly, the stock headpipes flow very well even with the cat, and there isn't much difference in flow, especially if you go 2-1-2 aftermarket. From my perspective the biggest benifit to a catless headpipe is the heat reduction. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. Thanks for watching and commenting. Smart tuning will add HP and TQ as it gives the best Air/Fuel mixture. The Smart tune process is ultimately refining the tune specific to your bike set up and riding style. Obviously I don't have Dyno numbers but I have seen a Harley Tech tune a Stage 1 114 with a Pro Street tuner and get 110 HP and 120 TQ at the wheel on the dyno machine.
