I have owned a chr for over a year now and there's definitely a difference in sport mode. Too many drivers are over concerned with horse power, that's why driving related deaths are as high as they are. Drive safe👍

Without the aluminum rims, my 2019 CHR LE was $22K for $386/Month. I’m a local in Maui, Hawaii, and most of my travel from home to work, gym, and back to home is less than 20 miles, half tank of gas is about a week and a quarter. The only con I have is the languid acceleration, however, I’m not interested in driving passing the speed limit nor am I trying to get a speed ticket. Other than that, I’m glad to own this vehicle.
@AndySmith45017 ай бұрын
The blind spot monitors are definitely my favourite safety feature, and the adaptive cruise control that slows you down when approaching another vehicle when you can't overtake, and then accelerates you back up quickly when you do, is awesome. I have the 1.8 which has enough get up and go for me, but does encourage a more relaxed sedate driving style, which is no bad thing. The best thing of all though is fuel economy. That's why I bought a hybrid and I haven't been disappointed. In the past I've found mpg computers hopelessly optimistic, but in the C HR it's pretty much bang on. I use the brim to brim method of working out fuel consumption, and so far my worst return was 55mpg (Imperial) and my best has been 62mpg on a long constant 70mph motorway trip, which give or take a few miles, is what the computer says. That's well up on my previous Hyundai ix35 diesel which averaged 45 mpg. Also, in the UK at least, even outside of the new warranty, each time you have it serviced by Toyota, they roll on the warranty another year up to 10 years or 100,000 miles, and it's not expensive. The hybrid system remains under warranty another five years after that. I've got a friend who runs one of these as a taxi and has done over 150,000 and the only issue over and above normal wear and tear, was with the heated seats. Great car

Well done! You have done your homework on this car. My family and I loved this car so much we bought one. We bought a 2019 XLE model in metallic blue with a white top and it looks amazing! You get a lot of style for the money, amazing safety features as you mentioned, and all wrapped up in that legendary Toyota quality. We have a family of 3 and the size is perfect. Everyone fits fine in the car with room for groceries and the car itself is small and nimble enough to make it fun to get around in. It may not be a sports car but it is sporty. I am replacing a manual transmission car I have been driving for almost 20 years with this C-HR but I have to say, the automatic CVT transmission is pretty good and the option to manual shift is nice. It does not replace the feel of a clutch and stick but it is nice to have it as an option to break up the driving experience a bit and I also like the g-monitor to measure g forces. What a lot of people don't mention is that Toyota also offers some great first party, after market performance parts for the car right from the dealer. I installed a TRD Air Intake Kit for more torque and horsepower and I do feel the difference. I also installed a Tornado Air unit, not from Toyota, to further squeeze more power form the engine. I will be installing some TRD Lowering Springs to make the car handle even better as well as improving the stance of the car by lowing it about an inch. In my opinion, the original exhaust pipe looks pretty pathetic for such a sporty looking car. Not wanting to void my warranty, I also installed a dual-head, chromed exhaust tip which greatly improves the look of the car form the back. This is how the car should have came from the factory. We got the car because it was the perfect car for us but I am seeing more of them here in So Cal. I'm glad to see you know it was fine tuned on the Nurburgring but did you also know it was designed in Toyota's CA design studio? Again, well done. We love the car. Subscribed.

It drives great on trips, comfortable, great gas mileage and it's a sexy car! It feels to me like it has a little get up and go but not enough to get me into trouble with to many speeding tickets. Very roomy inside for passengers, as well as hauling things in the back with the seats down. I give the C-HR ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👍👍

Very good review! It's crazy but I actually love the design of this vehicle. While some car "experts" might rant about "better subcompact SUVs" available at the same price, they all tend to look the same basic design with only a few differences on the grill or rear. This was designed to look unique while offering a comfortable ride with Toyota's latest Safety Sense features. My only problem is finding a good deal in the era of chip shortages due to a pandemic. I live in the Silicon Valley and its a pain trying to find one in stock between San Francisco and San Jose. One dealership called to tell me that they have one available -- but its not even on the boat yet in Japan (and wouldn't be here until May)!

And then there are those reckles drivers out there that you see every now and then which is where the lack of visibilty concerns me. Actually, in the US and Canada, the C-HR got an old engine. C-HR's in the rest of the world got the new high compression engine (with hybrid AWD option) that's in the Corolla and the Lexus UX200 in the US and Canada. The C-HR in the US and Canada was supposed to be a Scion model. If you take the Lexus badge off, you can see that the UX200 is more of a mini RAV-4 than the C-HR, especially in profile with the squared out wheel wells.

Gabriella Dots It has blind spot detectors on the mirrors, that light up. Lets you know there is someone in the next lane even when you can’t see them. I really love mine!

Why this car didn’t come to Gulf?
@nickmarkis5 жыл бұрын
I test drove one I thought it was pretty fast but I couldn't stand how cramped I felt in it and the visability in the rear is terrible the rear windows angle looks really crazy from inside almost like a corvette all in all I really didn't like it I bought a roomier kia soul instead so far so good! 👍

So by "limited"... You mean the car may not be available in the next few years? I was planning on getting in 2021
@AutoAcademics5 жыл бұрын
Not at all, lunga illustrate. Car manufacturers use "Limited" as a high-level trim here in the U.S. It has nothing to do with availability or how many will be made. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

What's the point in revving up a weak underpowered engine that sounds like it's about to break

It's a gorgeous looking car . It has swooping good looks . It unfortunately is very slow . Fortunately it handles . Unfortunately it doesn't have AWD . Now if Toyota put in the new for camary 2.4 liter AWD drivetrain as base or even an option they would hit it right out of the ballpark.

How many people actually need AWD?

I drove one and only complaint is that its slower than a 2003 hyundai santa fe

Yeah, it's not a powerful car, construct apex, bit it does drive much better than we expected. Thanks for sharing and for watching!

Very informative. However, wearing sunglasses during a video is kinda not the best thing to do as a “tv” personality. Just saying

Thank goodness Chris is on KZbin then and not "tv," cause the sun can be brutal and squinty eyes isn't a good look, either. Check out some of our other videos when it was cloudy or raining and you'll get to see his beautiful browns, Art Pereira. LOL. Thanks for watching!

@@AutoAcademics I am just saying. He does a great job to present his videos like a real car-journalist type show (hence "TV personality") but professionalism goes a long way. Take it as a point for improvement rather than a diss. (I gave your comment a thumbs up)

i would buy one if toyota will put a 2.5 camry engine there
@malcolmar5 жыл бұрын
@ihategooglespooks I wouldln't mind seeing it with that 2.5L and manual but that would price this car above its competitors and even knock it into RAV 4 territory. This car holds a unique spot in Toyota's line up. The fact Toyota has TRD parts available from the dealer that can only be installed after purchase shows the designers had much more in mind for this car but you get the impression, there were told to scale back due to pricing. Just look at that sorry looking exhaust pipe. With that said, the safety features in this car can't be beat. That is where the budget went with the sacrifice from engine performance. I can tell you from experience, with the mods I made to my car including the TRD Air Intake Kit I installed, it handles extremely well and planted at high speeds and still has decent fuel economy not to mention it knows what to do with higher octane fuel when I use it.

i own a 2019 c-hr gle. it is the most utterly piece of crap. after 2 years of ownership and 40k miles it makes me wish i had bought a yugo! spacious: somewhat good mileage?? not in the least. my 1990 suzuki samurai gave 45/50 miles to the gallon. battery is out in less than 2 years, so were the tires which lasted about 38k miles. noises from low workmanship. it has them all. currently, in slow turns, the steering system cracks, rattles and moans constantly. and then there is the ever bubbling sound after it gets warmed up. what did the dealership service department say all and every time i took the car for inspection? they said that there was nothing wrong with the car. a yugo's the way to go. suspension. it bottoms up every time with the slightest depression on the road. the front absorbers (struts or rubber bands or whatever they use to deal with this) is so horrendous and the japanese mechanic at the dealership says there is nothing wrong with the suspension. a yugo is the way to go! i am telling you guys and gals, save yourselves the aggravation of a great looking piece of crap and buy yourselves a yugo!! the 80's and 90's yugo that is!

@@AutoAcademics I hear many of them have transmission failures before 100.000 miles. But not know what's the real reason. I own from new 2019 made in turkey with 43.000 miles ,change transmission fluid last month at 42000 miles everything fine so far.
@AutoAcademics6 ай бұрын
@@INYOURFACE-1 I'm not aware of those problems so hopefully you won't have to deal with them. Unless you're experiencing some hints of issues, I wouldn't worry.

Dropping the new Corolla's 169hp motor into this top trim Limited along with AWD, would've made this a viable alternative to the new Honda HR-V Touring trim.
