2015 Can-Am Spyder F3-S - First Ride

This is video of AutoAcademics' first ride on the 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3-S. This Y-configured 3-wheeler provides greater stability than a traditional 2-wheeled motorcycle, yet retains 100% of the open air experience. The Spyder F3-S bridges the gap between Can-Am's extended touring RT and the performance-focused RS. Watch as we experience our first ride in less than optimal conditions.

Just found one today that was in stock. 2015 F-3 S with the Manuel gear box. It is about 100 miles away in Wisconsin. It’s getting pretty cold and rainy around these parts. My have my buddy help me pick it up with his trailer in a couple of weeks.

I saw the ad on tv but just caught the last few seconds of it. I actually thought it was a 4 wheeler. (Sorry haven't had a bike in years and lost interest in it) But this looks nice and something anyone could ride. While looking this up, I thought that maybe they redesigned 4 wheelers so they couldn't roll as easy. That's an idea?

fridaykiss8521 It's definitely a great bike for a transitional rider --- someone who either has never ridden before or who hasn't ridden in a while. Steering is reminiscent of a quad (4-wheeler) and it has decent power and is pretty comfortable, too. 4-wheelers were always more stable than trikes (3-wheelers), but the tadpole configuration (2 wheels in front, 1 in rear) is proven more stable than the delta configuration (1 wheel in front, 2 in rear). The main reason I am thinking about purchasing a Spyder is due to my mother not liking 2 wheelers... That said I have looked at Spyders and I am very confused about the Law in California to ride one. Do I need a motorcycle license or driverse license to ride one???

Hello great video but i have a question how fast can it go on the highways like does it atleast get up to 80 -90 mph and will this be able to keep up for long distance rides with other motorcycle

Nicole Hamilton While we do not know what the exact top speed of the Spyder F3 is, we do know that it will have no problem keeping up with other motorcycles, so long as they stay under your triple-digit benchmarks. This is not a sportbike, however, so if that is what you typically ride with (or are planning on riding with), they may leave you from time to time at stoplights. I HAVE ONE VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION. DOES IT GET HOT ON THE LEGS LIKE THE RS? MY 2012 RS GETS SOOOO HOT ON THE LEGS ITS HARD TO RIDE DURING HOT DAYS

Our experience with the F3 was only on that rainy day, so we did not experience any discomfort from engine temperatures. Do you typically ride with leg protection, such as jeans or riding pants, or are you in shorts during the summer months? Leg protection can help in those instances (as well as those that are more tragic), so that may be something to consider if you haven't already. yes I do but when its 90 plus the heat from my Rss is so hot my wife finds it to hot for her too ride with me. So I was thinking about a trade in for this F3 and is why I wanted to know about the heat

Je fu Unfortunately, we did not experience the F3 in more "normal" riding conditions and we did not notice any extra heat on our legs. We also weren't sitting in back where we assume your wife sits. Our best advice would be to test ride one before making the switch. Feel free to comment back to let us know how you make out.

+yaksportfish Well, the terminology used to describe this vehicle is all a matter of semantics and preference, we guess. While "trike" is a very accurate description for this 3-wheeler, many States still consider this a motorcycle, requiring a "Class M" license to operate it on public roads. However, in defense of your position, there are some States that do not consider it a motorcycle, requiring only a car license to operate it. We specifically asked Can-Am's representatives how they classify this vehicle and they did not have a specific term either. We appreciate your comment and thanks for watching!

+Zariah Holmes Well, Zariah Holmes, you do have a point, albeit a very small one. The Polaris Slingshot reportedly does 0-60 in "less than 6 seconds," so let's say a generous 5.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 130 mph. The Can-Am Spyder does 0-60 in a reported 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 127 mph. We'd probably take the 0-60 time over the top speed on this one. However, as we stated, you do have a point.
