First time watching an AutoAcademics video and I am impressed, subscribed. well done! comprehensive. I particularly like the "if you are transitioning from a sportbike to a more adult" explanation. As a Kawi-Ninja/Honda-CBR former rider (currently BMW f800), that spoke exactly to my situation and that clarified things rather well.

+AutoAcademics Hi , I had a 2009 Harley 1200 sportster , sold in 2012 due to oncoming Cancer , I got through the illness by 2014 and now i am fit enough to ride again . I was very impressed with a test ride this August of the Scout , particularly the low weight ,power and cost , i am currently discussing specifications with the dealer which includes the chrome wire wheels and white wall tyres ( which i understand you spell wrong as tires haha ) I think this will transform the look of the scout in a way that will delight me !! Best Regards Mel

mel stevens What? No, we always replace our "i's" with "y's," Mel. As a matter of fact, we were about to "hyre" a guy, but when we asked him about the "wyre" wheels and "whyte" wall tires on the Scout, he was totally confused. So we asked him to pick up some petrol (some people call it gas), then sent him on his way. LOL All jokes aside, we are very happy for you in your fight against cancer. We also wish you well with your Scout purchase. None of us has had the opportunity to "ryde" (there we go again) the 1200 Sportster, but the #Scout is a nice bike with quite a bit of customizing available for it. Take care and thank you for sharing. Ride safe!

Hi, jprenderg. Don't give up yet! The Scout is available with different accessories, such as an extended-reach seat and handlebars. We recommend that you stop by your local dealer to sit on one or take one for a test ride to try it out and see if it fits you. They also should be able to give you a better idea of what configurations might work better for you. Hope this helps and feel free to comment back on here if you get one. hi i just recently got into riding and was wondering how this would be for a beginner i have my eyes on one right now and i have loved indians since i was a kid btw great video
@AutoAcademics9 жыл бұрын
+Levi Hall Hi Levi Hall. This Indian Scout would make a decent first bike, so long as you have a good head on your shoulders. Obviously, any bike can be dangerous in the wrong hands and this is a true motorcycle. However, its size makes it easier to handle and while its engine makes good power for this type of bike, it is much more forgiving to inputs than say a current-gen sportbike might be. And while a smaller CC/cu.-in. bike would be an easier ride for beginners, you would probably outgrow one of those quickly. This is why the "good head" comment was made earlier. Also, if you have not done so already, consider taking a Riders' Ed course. Many States offer them for free at your local police barracks. Other courses can be taken for a reasonable fee. They offer techniques and experiences that you'd only otherwise get on the road. And on the road, you only have two choices - right and wrong. Well, that's enough preaching for today. Hope we were able to help. Thanks for watching and RIDE SAFE!

+Pat Duffy Hi, Pat Duffy. Unfortunately, as you saw from the video, we did not have an opportunity to ride the Scout on anything other than pavement. Thank you for posting this review. I have a question for clarification. I definitely want an upgrade for the mufflers from stock. I am purchasing a 2017 Scout. I find Indian's Stage One's only a slight improvement, but I want to keep away from extremely loud, where the neighbors might be annoyed. Sounds like these Crushers might fit the bill for the sound I want- not obnoxiously loud where they become a total distraction. Do I have this right? Thanks so much.
@AutoAcademics8 жыл бұрын
The Crushers were definitely an improvement over the stock exhaust, in our opinion, but weren't obnoxiously loud. We liked them and Chris wished the bike he actually rode had them on it. Hope this helps and feel free to comment back on here if you get the bike. We'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you for your comments and thanks for watching, too!
@hooahayes8 жыл бұрын
I have the Crushers on mine, my neighbors haven't complained...yet. I think it is loud on a long ride though. If you wear hearing protection, its perfect. Really fits the character and the look of the bike well. There are new options coming out what seems like daily for this bike so you can probably find something a bit quieter but they will almost certainly be more expensive as the Crusher slip-ons go for about $460. Also, the stock exhaust weighs a ton. The Mavericks drop 14lbs off the bike.

hooahayes Thank you for sharing that info. It's details like that, from owners like you, that are valuable to the comments section. Ride safe!

is the scout or scout sixty the better beginner bike?
@AutoAcademics7 жыл бұрын
Based on the engine size and power output, the Scout Sixty would probably be the better beginner bike, David Mac. We've never ridden one, but it seems as though the Sixty should handle well, and it's slightly lighter with a little less horsepower. With that being said, the Scout isn't scary fast, either, so if you have a good head on your shoulders and respect the bike, it could be a decent first bike, too. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

I like the stock exhaust a lot better than the Crushers. Crushers are too loud for my taste. I like the 16 Scout, and it is the next bike that I want to buy. And it has a great price too! Great video, and awesome job on the description. I really like the wide tire on the front. My bike has a skinny front tire, and it's not too stable on grooved concrete. I would much rather have a bike without ABS. I have ABS on my cars, and I don't like it at all.

538 pounds...lightweight? I think that's heavy. But one shouldn't focus that much on numbers, it's about how it feels that matters! Looks really cool! Wirespoke wheels is my thing though. Tata! :-)
@johnDukemaster9 жыл бұрын
+John Mård ...and sadly, no dealer for Indian in Denmark where I live. We can only browse the bikes in Sweden. Or private import...
@AutoAcademics9 жыл бұрын
+John Mård You are correct, John Mard. The numbers on this bike (and most other vehicles) are strictly relative to each individual person. If you are accustomed to sport bikes, 538 pounds is not light, however, if you ride cruisers or touring bikes, the Scout is a true lightweight. And even coming off sport bikes, such as Chris (our presenter) has, he felt the bike was still very agile and enjoyable to ride. While there aren't as many Indian bike dealers in the U.S. as compared to Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha or Harley-Davidson, you can still typically find one not too far away. That stinks to hear there are none in Denmark. Take care and thanks for watching!
@hooahayes8 жыл бұрын
The bike is 566lbs wet and has no bottom frame piece as the engine is a stressed member. I carries its weight very low and doesn't feel like it weighs anywhere near that. You are correct, for most bikes 566 isn't lightweight, for a cruiser at this price and power level, it's like dating a model.
