Hilarious video, and some good consumer info in amongst the chaos. Much like the array of chains, locks and assorted ironmongery that I drape my motorcycle in though, they seem to mostly be deterrents rather than able to stop a professional with intent. It's a case of 'make them nick your neighbour's car instead'. Still good to have though, especially if you don't like the neighbour.

Yup. A planned theft would just have the car on the back of a loader and gone. But these stop or at least hinder opportunistic scum. I heard with the disklock the scum fill the back in with spray foam. No more spinny in seconds.

Well in the end, if they want it, you'll loose it at some point. But exactly as you say, it's about making them think it'll take to long for them to steal your car (in this case) and have them go for any other car instead. About 10 years ago i had a car stolen from me, it wasn't a very special car, not worth a lot of money and i never thought someone would nick it. I was very suprised when i got back to te place i parked my car and discovered another car was on the spot i parked mine. It was an old cheap shitbox i used as a sort of work van (Alex probably knows what i mean now) but someone saw my old '97 Astra Wagon and figured they needed it more than i did. I was happy my tools weren't in there. Never got it back, turned out i had insured the car for damage by fire or theft, didn't give it much thought and bought another shitbox/workvan daily driver.

I watched your video and I really do appreciate what you guys have done with this video. I just took a decision now after watching your video and I will go for the STOPLOCK PRO because it really proved to be difficult to crack plus value for money at $50. Again, I appreciate what you guys have done because you spent money buying these locks to just destroy them. I just bought my car and I haven't been sleeping well because of the absence of a proper steering lock device. My car is usually parked in front of my house and I think every thief wants a discreet operation which the STOPLOCK will not guarantee. I will use it to deter or delay them from putting me in pain. Thank you great guys

I use a stop lock as it takes no space to slide it into the back footwell when your not using it & they stole my car but had to cut through the steering wheel to do it. Also after speaking to an ex car thief I was told they use the length of the steering lock as leverage to break the integral steering lock.but with keyless entry they don’t need keys to start or get the alarm to disable & the integral steering lock also is disabled & yes the ford keyless is so bad you might as well leave the doors open. I’d use the stop lock but angle the long bit so it can’t be used as leverage to break integral lock & is a hard angle to use a hacksaw on.

You can snap most steering locks by hand. You need your pal in the pessenger seat to put his foot across and help you turn the wheel whilst you pull from the outside. I only recommend full face locks as someone I know tried cutting a few and never got them off. Pedal boxes are also very very difficult to get off.

Honestly, hidden fuel cutoff switch is probably the best. Someone is gonna get in the car, somehow get it to crank over, and notice it doesn't start. Someone got into my cupra a couple of months ago, Long story short is they most likely had the 2nd key that was missing from the car when I bought it. They unlocked the car which beeped twice and woke me up. I got to the window and banged on it and they ran. They were trying to cut the stoplock off. If they did have the key I'd have no car... So from experience definitely worth it. I went out a bought the diskloc after.

Car thieves love steering locks, they often help with breaking the factory steering lock. I have pursued many a car with a bent steering wheel back when such devices were far more common With the first two locks , if it fits that way the long end needs to up and right, between the A pillar and winscreen. It should minimise the amount of movement available. The real value in any such device is to simply be a visual deterrent, have the toe-rag look at the next car that may be easier.

Had a good laugh at that. Good info. I can get the first one off with a tape measure in less than 10 seconds tho (have a crap old video of doing it on here somwhere) Those disklok ones are awesome locks.

for the average thief the club is enough. it will discourage most joy ridders . if you have some hot car that gets stolen often (like a dodge charger) then maybe a step up . but the thing here is to create layers of annoyance .if I was a car thief I would problaly skip a car with a club on it. the owners obviously values his car and that prooblaly won't be the only thing there to keep me from stealing it. maybe a GPS or silent alarm or a pulled fuse or something else or even an armed one.. I rather look for a car that the owner oobviously does not care if the car gets taken as it has full coverage insurance.

Disc lock every time , you said on this video 2 minutes to get it off but in actual fact it took over 4 and that’s with a variety of tools ! To much noise as well ! What I would say is that disc lock need to improve on what they have there is room for a couple of mods on it which I will do on mine couple of peices of steel welded to the back just to give it a bit more strength.

In SA we had the Gorilla lock, it hooked around your clutch pedal and one of your steering wheel spokes.

In SA as well I remember the gorilla lock driver lost the vehicles keys and there were no spares for the gorilla lock. A quick snip with the bolt cutters on the steering wheel and off we went.

🤣🤣 the cars ive seen using the first design is either cut steering wheel and simply bend it, not sure if disc lock available in Australia but how hard is it to crack with the arm properly locked on the dash ?

Back in the day my grandad had a Sierra with the big yellow and grey stop lock that was insurance approved. They broke it off the steering wheel and then used it to snap open the iron gates at the end of the drive. We did end up with the car back after the Manchester police heard the car on Philips Park, the local park, being screwed to high heaven. It surprisingly undamaged and with a few insurance repairs returned to him. We kept the car for a few years after and eventually it became mine. Unfortunately it was myself that ended up scraping the car and fitted the wheels and tyres to a mk1 fiesta. I could to describe the next 78 vehicles I've owned but I won't bore you with that ...... or should I?

most thieves don't go for the locks if they are there but the wheel itself, cut through and remove

I had a great time watching this video, fun time for sure. It sounds crazy but I use 3 different steering wheel locks at once in my Honda Civic plus the car alarm as a challenge for the thief.
