Hilarious video, and some good consumer info in amongst the chaos. Much like the array of chains, locks and assorted ironmongery that I drape my motorcycle in though, they seem to mostly be deterrents rather than able to stop a professional with intent. It's a case of 'make them nick your neighbour's car instead'. Still good to have though, especially if you don't like the neighbour.
@jamesmaybrick20012 жыл бұрын
Yup. A planned theft would just have the car on the back of a loader and gone. But these stop or at least hinder opportunistic scum. I heard with the disklock the scum fill the back in with spray foam. No more spinny in seconds.

Well in the end, if they want it, you'll loose it at some point. But exactly as you say, it's about making them think it'll take to long for them to steal your car (in this case) and have them go for any other car instead. About 10 years ago i had a car stolen from me, it wasn't a very special car, not worth a lot of money and i never thought someone would nick it. I was very suprised when i got back to te place i parked my car and discovered another car was on the spot i parked mine. It was an old cheap shitbox i used as a sort of work van (Alex probably knows what i mean now) but someone saw my old '97 Astra Wagon and figured they needed it more than i did. I was happy my tools weren't in there. Never got it back, turned out i had insured the car for damage by fire or theft, didn't give it much thought and bought another shitbox/workvan daily driver.

I just bought my car and I haven't been sleeping well because of the absence of a proper steering lock device. I use a stop lock as it takes no space to slide it into the back footwell when your not using it & they stole my car but had to cut through the steering wheel to do it. Also after speaking to an ex car thief I was told they use the length of the steering lock as leverage to break the integral steering lock.but with keyless entry they don’t need keys to start or get the alarm to disable & the integral steering lock also is disabled & yes the ford keyless is so bad you might as well leave the doors open. I’d use the stop lock but angle the long bit so it can’t be used as leverage to break integral lock & is a hard angle to use a hacksaw on.

Car thieves love steering locks, they often help with breaking the factory steering lock. I have pursued many a car with a bent steering wheel back when such devices were far more common With the first two locks , if it fits that way the long end needs to up and right, between the A pillar and winscreen. It should minimise the amount of movement available. The real value in any such device is to simply be a visual deterrent, have the toe-rag look at the next car that may be easier.
