Why are cars so incedibly cheap in the UK? I looked for the cars here in Germany with at least 3 months "Tüv" (like MOT), without checking the description of the ads for faults. I only searched for diesels and lpg cars, except the Mini and Z4. Volvo V70 and Audi A6 Avant start under 2000. Mini with 160+ hp start under 3000. Mercedes S320 start under 4000. Range Rover and Mercedes CLS start under 6000. Porsche Cayenne and any BMW Z4 start under 7000. BMW Z4 Coupés cost at least more than 14000 Euro!!! Why are the cars so cheap?? What about the petrol prices, insurance and taxes? Are there other costs you HAVE to pay? What's the catch?

The failed ABS pump is probably just a cracked ABS-ring. They are press fitted over the driveshafts in the rear, and with a bit of rust over time that expands the ring they tend to crack. You can get new rings for cheap, clean up the driveshaft and press the new ring on. Worst case it has eaten the sensor too, but thats pretty simple too.

My mk1 Z4 convertible is still the car I regret selling the most- not the fastest, not the most well built ( a lot of rattles and squeaks, 2 failed roof motors in 4 years), definitely not practical in any way but it's the one that felt special to get in every time, it sounded brilliant and still looks great- particularly in that coupe style. Just a really unique design and definitely among the best of the Chris Bangle era.
