I happen to own a Citroen C6, its best selling engine was 2.7 V6 HDi, same engine was also used in Land-Rovers and Fords. It is also the most unreliable engine the car came with. Since it is also on Land-Rovers, you might be already familiar with it. Its successor was 3.0 HDi what is more reliable but also A LOT rarer and more expensive. Then there were 2.2 4 cylinder diesel and a 3.0 V6 petrol engine(reliable but rare and expensive). 2.2 HDi is the most sensible one. 2.7HDi C6 is dirt cheap in UK at the moment, but who knows how well they have been maintained, if neglected, they are ticking time bombs

When I was looking at L322 Range Rovers some of the BMW M62 cars were ULEZ compliant on the tfl website. Apparently the engine's emissions meet the Euro 4 standard, but the standard didn't exist until 2005. So you can get a certificate of conformity from BMW and appeal the ULEZ status. But obviously it's extra work and a risk it will be rejected.

It costs me like £150 all-in to do 10,000mi in my EV and its fun enough throwing it down a B road, so nice to rack up the miles in as well- quiet, comfy and smooth. York to Portsmouth on a single charge with plenty to spare, can't go wrong, except ending up in Portsmouth. Note; this isn't a 'Just because I like hot dogs doesn’t mean I hate burgers' scenario, I love all cars. Just throwing my hat in the ring, they have their place as with all cars! Also only the latest generation Saabs were GM, before that they were on the cool wall.

Im with Taylor on the c5. They can be spec’d incredibly well for less than £2k for one in good working order and are pretty reliable….some parts are hard to come by however. They can also come with a 3l diesel from the c6. Huge 75L fuel tank in the estate model and if you pick the 1.6 hdi engine, you can manage over 1200 miles to a tank hypermiling.

I hate to be that guy but I wish you’d actually give electric cars a shot properly - and I’d you still don’t like them then fair enough! I have a Cupra Born as a company car - warm hatch. 230hp, rear wheel drive. It’s great fun. You mention the charging costs. EVs only work if you have a drive way and can home charge. If not then stick with ICE. If you have a home charger then the costs are almost nothing. 250 miles real world range and it costs me £4 for an entire full charge (a tenth of what you’re saying here when deciding charging is too expensive). Every time I get in my car, I have a full charge and 250 miles of range. I can hoon it around because it costs pretty much nothing to do so. Yes they’re heavy and the lack of noise will never beat ICE but if you can charge at home they make a lot of sense and are dirt cheap to run - you guys testing them based solely on public charging is looking at only half the picture and then wondering why it doesn’t work. Other than that, love the channel and great news that Taylor is here full time!!!
@recklessrogue9027Ай бұрын
Fully agree! I love this channel and love the sound of a NICE petrol engine and own one as a weekend car but love driving my EV daily for just 4p per mile and instant torque. They both are great for what I want from them - the Ioniq is a reliable, practical cheap to run daily and the looks and sounds of 2.0 turbo put a smile on my face when I take it for a blast. Glad it was brought up that they were using old outdated examples and only rapid charging (with almost no knowledge on it to boot). That would be like getting an 80s beater and tell someone with no car experience to use it and then judge all ICE cars on their experience.

Yet again talking bollocks about charging. Most expensive quick chargers I have found in services are 79p per kw. My car does 300 mile range at 65kw battery so £51.35 from 0 to 100%, although no one is going to need to do a full charge at home and a full charge at quick charger in one journey (600 mile trips aren’t common in the UK) the same charge at home costs about £3.25, let’s see you how much diesel that gets you.
@NH00531Ай бұрын
I’m no EV fan boy (despite having a company iX3) but I have to agree about the charging propaganda. If one can charge it at home then they make a lot of sense, if your only option is public charging, then buy an ICE car.
@filmcameras4evr45Ай бұрын
All good assuming you live somewhere that has a driveway or availability to charge at home, which in cities (where EVs are arguably most useful) isn't exactly a given, certainly not where I live.
@SWMDAjaxRacingАй бұрын
I live in Northern Ireland and just bought a 2019 hyundai ioniq (28kw) version, I make a trip up north maybe once a month (150 mile round trip) and that's the only time I need to fast charge to get back home again, was driving an S6 5.2 V10 and was speeding £75 for 150, now the same costs around £9 for 150 miles in the Hyundai, and if I swap to the EV tariff that drops to about £4 for a full charge. Used EVs make a lot of sense if your doing a lot of short runs and can charge at home.
@djm9936Ай бұрын
Walking the dog in the dark few nights back a there was a Tesla M3 parked half on half off kerb with a charging cable coming up over a garden wall plugged into the car. I nearly went flying as I tripped on the cable. EV and home charging great if you have off road parking. It’s not so feasible on terraced streets. Just as well there’s not many terraced streets in the U.K. 😒
