Restoring to factory doesn't make sense. Pre-war cars typically don't have a lot of value unless they've been modified because they're not that usable and reliable in the real world. If he clean it up, leave it as is, and send it to Barrett he might can get $40k. But, I think he is ready to get his money back sooner rather than later.

​@@josephwilkerson4731yes my brother just sold his 57' Chevy on Barrett - Jackson a few months ago and got almost 15k over expected. There is a small waiting period of 30-60 days I believe and also a $1500 deposit but it's well worth it.

We owned a 1935 Chevy street rod, that came with a very similar book, with similar handwriting. We bought it from California but it was built in Oklahoma. We ended up selling it at Mecum. It was a great experience. I can give you insights if you want in the process

I think you are right Randy the ignition in the column itself either needs cleaning or to be replaced. The Tumbler seems to be fine. I think it is the ignition module that the rod in the column connects to.

Usually there's a rod that runs down the steering column and goes to a little box and that is the ignition and that's a Napa Gold battery those are awesome

Randy, send the 1940 Chevy to Barrett-Jackson or Mecum. You will have a better chance of making all (if not more) of your money back on that car if you auction it with either of those auctions. IMO.

I used to do the window labels in the early 2000s. First Tulsa then promoted to Vegas so it was hot. I wpuld freeze gatorade at night and the next day no cooler needed and puts the salt back in you. Also we used high quality neck coolers that hid under our shirts. The good ones work fairly well. Your fan in far away Wichita.

Hey Randy. Here's something to think about. Instead of using ceramic spray. As good a.s ceramic coating is there's something better. Its called Graphene. Last longer and better protection than ceramic. Not a sales person for any coatings but did research and saw its a better choice. You can get a spray like 303 Graphene spray which not only you use on painted surfaces but you can use it on plastic, glass and crome. Give it a try

Copart is the wrong place to sell the 1940 Chevy and the 2009 Maserati Quatroporte. These cars, especialy the Chevy, are much to nice. I recommend to give all cars to a dealer. It'll take time but he will sell them. Mecum is a good option as well. Greetings from Germany

Randy is probably a bad starter on that Taurus. It could have a bad spot on the armature. It might start 10 times in a row but if the armature lands in that bad spot it won't start. I've had multiple cars were that was the case.

I don't think the 1940 Chevy should go anywhere, especially copart that thing will look like a piece of crap by the time the auction gets there but if your heart set on getting rid of it keeping that other junk that's sitting around then I guess the better would be to take it to the auction where at least you could probably get inside storage there and a lot more cash I think will be made. I mean can you imagine that car being at copart and all these other junk monkeys getting in and out of that car all day long. Starting it up and rubbing the shit I it's blasphemy lol. But like you say it's my money it's my car. I'll do what I want and as far as the car going to Mecum not a wise idea because by the time you pay for shipping to the auction and you have to pay a sellers premium and to be honest, as much as we love that car, hot rods like that really don't bring that much money.
