Lesson #1 when it comes to working on cars: Something will always go wrong, lol. Anyway, I love working on cars. I really enjoy it. I can't really think of a much more pleasurable activity, especially when it gets fixed in the end, and you're saving one that has been neglected for a long time.

Look online for the steps you have to do to set idle . You have to unplug the idle control valve , then set the idle at 800 rpm with the screw on the throttle body , then plug icv back in and set throttel position seensor to .5volts . I had same problem with my 88 corvette . Googlehow to set idle on 85 corvette and click on Willcox corvette instructions , i think it is 11 steps that you have to do in exact order ....

Really have enjoyed your series on the swamp vette, know how much fun these cars can be. I replaced all my interior including seat skins in my 85 corvette with reproduction parts and what a proud accomplishment that was, (could have sold tickets for people to watch me install the new seat covers, lol) I actually daily drove a 84 corvette, (Crossfire injection) all the way through high school, college, and then my first few years of work, it was a very reliable car but was butchered before I got it and I wasn't a fan of the gas odors at interstate speeds coming from the breather. I ended up buying a 85 corvette and daily drove it for about 4 years but had to get something I could haul stuff around in. I still have my 85 vette and it's a lot of fun, if you think the 85 corvette rides rough, you really need to drive a 84 corvette...it had even tighter suspension than the 85. That tune port injection does make the car have slightly better acceleration and smoother idle over the crossfire injection. I'm currently running a hypertech chip in my vette and like how the overdrive engages a bit earlier, (around 36mph) Since these cars have manual overdrive (700R4) it's no problem to shift to overdrive off in slower traffic. This chip also keeps the engine cooler..the fan from factory would turn on around 240°F and with the chip it turns on around 208°F really makes a difference. You should also look into relocating the air temp sensor, it naturally gets hot right above the intake and causes power loss and if you have to sit in traffic, it can cause unstable idle I have found out.

Little late coming back to check on this car but glad to see you took the time to get it taken care of. Hope you got that EGR taken care of. Great selection on the injectors. I run M-9593-BB302 30# in my 94 formula. I absolutely love the way Ford takes the time to test and publish the specs on every injector Bosch makes for them. With that data you can get incredibly precise characterization for voltage offset and low pulse width adders. Both OBDI in TunerPro RT, TunerCats and OBDII in HPTuners, Haltech, etc. Like within 13-14 millionths of a second per pulse width maximum error with most data points less than 4 millionths.

Besides notes or pictures, a good way to make sense of the intake plenum bolts is to lay our the parts, and place all the bolts in the holes. They should all have about the same threads protruding on the inside surfaces. BTW need to move the mounting stud for the cables.

Randy, you were saying EGR valve was bad because it wasn’t holding vacuum. Some EGR valves have a small port in them. This allows fluctuations in the operation of EGR. That way it’s not just on or off. Helps prevent surging.
