My Bad ! It's the injectors on those years that are the stinkers. The " Optispark " came later. What was I thinkin' ?
@rwandersonut4 жыл бұрын
@@sidgysoho1960 In a general knowledge sense, I would eliminate the most obvious and least expensive first. Since the goal here is to get it running, the plugs and wires would eventually be done anyway no matter what so might as well get them out of the way before getting into the more expensive parts. There is obviously a fuel issue here, however, if on a budget, eliminating the wires and plugs would allow you to disconnect the injectors one at a time to help narrow it down. For my own vehicle, I would replace them all off the bat. However, for a budget build, he may want to try and "clean" them. On that subject, a "fuel system cleaner" will only improve poor flow, it will not clean out totally clogged injectors. The issue with the injectors could also be in the wiring harness as well as being gummed up. I just don't like to crank that much on an engine, it unnecessarily stresses the starter and could burn up some wiring too. Great find for a real project though, but it will be a black hole of time for ayone involved.

@@rwandersonut Thanks for the conversation. Just watched Corvette Ben, it was part 7 of 8 on the Daily Driver 1985, and he went ahead and replaced all 8 injectors. The former owner did only 2 ? 1985 was the first year for the L-98. The 1984 was the only one that had the L-83 ( I may be mistaken ) Cross-Fire motor. The L-98 was a good solid torque monster especially after February of 1986 when they slapped aluminum heads on it and roller rockers in '87. Great engine and good on fuel too not to mention it's a pretty motor to look at.

Really amazing story so far. Would have been nice to have seen it being pulled out of where ever it was. Maybe the electrics will be ok? It was encouraging to see taillights and lights in the front end lit up. Especially the dash. Would be nice if you could save it for your son.

Years ago I bought an old, wrecked VW Beetle for $25 strictly for the parts. It had been sitting with a half-tank of fuel in it for 22 years! It smelled like very old spar varnish with a truckload of garlic mashed into it. Surprisingly, after draining it out I poured it out at the edge of a field and struck a match to the puddle-it flamed off like it was fresh premium right out of the refinery!

This is the first time I’ve ever even heard your channel and I would totally watch if you build this car up
@TacoBell5DollarBox4 жыл бұрын
I'm still trying to figure his channel out. I dont know if he actually rebuilds these things himself. He may just be like the "General contractor" and hire people. I'm still curious though and will watch a few more episodes but right now I'm not seeing a whole lot of him doing repairs. I could be wrong...

"Everyone needs a hobby." "What's yours?" "Resurrection!" OK. Colour: Leave it white. LED the brake lights as I'm unsure if you can put newer bulbs in the pop-ups and the LED will give you more light. Red line paint on the tires. Turn signals in the mirrors. Red interior with inexpensive led string lights. All this based on if the body is structurally sound. Swamp Thing? No. Christine? No. Survivor! This car WANTS to live. Ya know, that might have been Granny Clampett's rheumatiz medicine in the gas tank.

The 1984 Corvette came with the wretched Crossfire V8. All other model years after that did not have the Crossfire. However, that EFI and its various incarnations did find its way into many V8-powered GMs throughout the Eighties. You dodged a bullet in not getting the Crossfire, that's for sure!
