Hydro-Boost runs the power brake boost off of hydraulic pressure rather then Vacuum from the engine. All those trucks with a Diesel or a 454 had it. When someone stuffs a BBC in a half ton have fun taking the vacuum booster of to get at the left calve cover. Also a single 3 inch with No cat was stock GM for a 6.5L diesel. The dash cracks are probably from not installing all the 95-99/99-2000 old body dash support brackets. Put a cover on it and go to the next issue, You can use 95-99 Suburban door panels and door handles (get the relay rods too) then the door panels will match the dash. If your going to do much with it look in to a aftermarket gauge cluster. Either digital or one of the companies that makes a conversion housing for auto meter gauges. Another thing old 454 TBI's use an adapter plate. If you pull that plate off you will see a 4 stud GM Carb intake under the 3 stud TBI adapter. Changing the intake manifold will help. Also check out the distributor. Those units the pick up coils (below the rotor) get weak and the magnets on the distributor shaft have issues. A weak signal from it will give issues with the injector firing from the ECM.

Pray the hydroboost doesn't leak. Ive replaced them on my trucks and they cost 800 bucks for a reman unit. They are common on diesels because diesels don't have manifold vacuum for braking assistance, and hydroboost gives more stopping power under heavy load. They are very nice as long as they work.

Randy hydro boost in the brakes will be very useful if you're going to haul heavy loads. I have a 99 Chevy K2500 Suburban that I used to tow a 10, 000 pound trailer with. It was a enclosed car hauler, the trailer weighed 3500 pounds the car weighed just over 4400 pounds plus all the spare tires, parts and tools, and having hydro boost made the difference versus vacuum over hydraulic like the 1/2 ton trucks have when hauling heavy loads as well as the stiffer suspension.

@demontech065 жыл бұрын
All the TBI engines have low lift cams! The cams were that way due to the injection type. Speed density systems like that don't respond to performance upgrades very well. A higher lift cam would require a MAF sensor to work properly to avoid a possible lean condition under load. The TBI engines were actually really good until you neglected them and didn't maintain them. The simplicity of the injection is what made those reliable. The hydroboost system runs off of the power steering pump, instead of having a vacuum booster. I wouldn't consider it a bad buy! I'd buy that truck and install an aftermarket injection system with MAF. As long as the engine is solid, install a few aftermarket goodies and have fun!

Line from power steering pump to brakes is there due to the truck being a diesel if I remember correctly. When I was in the car business, we converted an 81 Cadillac from diesel to gas. We used it to drive back and forth from the auction and even used it with a tow dolly. Damn thing was a hell of a vehicle once converted it over. Anyway, it had a line going to the master cylinder similar to what you are talking about. I believe it's a vacuum issue due to the diesel compared to gas.

I don’t think it is a fantastic deal but when you step up to a 3500 it isn’t necessarily the looks of the thing. It is what it can do, and will do all day long. Fix the little bugs, trash the stereo, rewire the light and brake receptacles and find the sweet spot for the non-op power seats and drive the mutha. My 95 K2500 with a 454 has 155K miles. Runs like a dream. Uses no oil but it loves fuel. I get just a shade under 8mpg in town and about 11 on the open road. Fortunately I don't do a lot of driving. Bought the truck about 10 years ago with 82K on it. So it took 19 years to put another 73K on it. Thats about 7 or so per year.

Check all your downspouts and drainage situation. The grading on the property seems of, you might just have to lengthen those downspouts.

Put a hole in the floor and drop a sub pump in to pump the water out of the building.only cost about 100 dollars for a sub pump

Why when it just needs new weather stripping on the bottom of the doors
@SawmillerSmith5 жыл бұрын
@@shanes6136 clearly it's more than weather stripping. The building has had inches of rain on the floor. Meaning the floor is lower than the surface outside.

Diesels are built for towing and are cheaper to maintain that petrol, that's why they have them in prime movers. They are a lot cheaper on fuel too.

Because this is what people are watching my channel for!! I am making $23k/month doing this. The average person can not afford do drop $6K on some unknown car because they aren't getting PAID for it.
@AY-dw4om5 жыл бұрын
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds Exactly, they cannot. and so you should not. you are supposed to imitate what your average viewer can do, else, you show fantasy land. Be assured that if your channel will transform into auction rebuild fantasy - not economically viable because you loose a ton of money, you will loose viewers. I represent the average viewer in intention, although I am a millionaire. Just to strength my point. If I am feeling and thinking this way, think what your average viewer without any money thinks of your losses expeditions. Show the viewer the way it should be, go see the cars and validate them before you buy, and only buy economically viable deals. This is the way I teach people about money although I already did mine. I show them How it is made as if I have non of it. this is teaching.

Well I think Randy is going in the right direction. I've towed alot as I have 3 different trailers and 3 boats. I would recommend to anyone to a least have a DRW when towing. It adds safety and peace of mind especially in high winds. Hopefully he eventually figures it out and gets 4wd for the chance of being somewhere muddy. Lastly Diesel is the way to go when working the truck hard and for resale.

You can fix the FI wiring. This is cheap stuff. You can fix it and either sell it or use it to haul your trailer.

What a handsome rig! Love the truck. Always Wanted a older chevy pickup. Newer GM trucks are garbage.

Disels dont make as much vacume as gas engines so the hydro boost option makes that truck stop better as a disel, hense no vacume booster.

Randy, I hope that rebuilt throttle body will fix your injector problem. There is a good possibility you shorted out the injector driver in the ECM. You may want to use that Launch scanner to see if the bi-directional control can turn on that injector. Use a turn signal light off one of your junk cars for a test load for the injector you think is bad. Then again that truck is so old the Launch may not be able to do bi-directions tests on it.

It was a diesel truck and there is no vacuum. So it has the vacuum pump. They didn't want to change the power breaks booster system. Cheaper to the gas engine.
