I had to learn from basics due to work. it took alot of drawings and learning from errors, but now i feel abit comfortable modifying acad drawings. Being involved in pre engineering of a major project helps alot too.

i want to draw a line in reference to other lines. I want the line to be horizontal (parallel to all other of my horizontal lines) and i want it to be at a specific distance from another line (that it is parallel to). How do i do this? Autocad is very confusing in sketching when coming from solidworks

I am trying to insert a line with a specific dimension, but it never shows up after I press enter?

I have the same problem. Did you find a solution? Please share. Thank you
@x.v3n0m.x3 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethuwe6212 I haven’t used Autocad in a while, but I believe it was due to being zoomed in too much for my specific dimensions. My professor wanted me to make an office layout, so my line dimensions had to be in feet. So i tried to insert a 20’ line but after i typed 20 and hit enter, nothing happened. After a lot of frustration I tried zooming out a lot and inserting the line again and it worked. So depending on the dimensions and units you’re using, zooming in/out on the x-y plane may help you. Pay attention to the coordinates before you specify the first point of your line. For example, if it reads a big number like 8.55E+20, you’ll likely have to zoom in a lot. And vice-versa for smaller numbers. I really hope this helps!

how do u give the values in m or cm ??
@CADinblack4 жыл бұрын
Hi Himanshu! It's more common to use millimetres rather than centimetres. To edit the units, type "UNITS" on the command bar, and it opens the Unit properties window.

How check dimension (length) of existing line?
@CADinblack2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, thanks for watching. Click on the line with right button, go to quick properties, and you should see the length on the dialog.
