This is hands down the best MAC AutoCad tutorial I've come across. I took a full university course on AutoCad at a prominent design academy and imagine my disappointment when the entire series of content was catered to Windows w/o the disclosure prior to signing up for the course. I learned more in the first 18 minutes of this video than the entire semester long course. I will definitely go through the entire series of videos and have signed up for the Patreon account. Thanks so much Jay!

I am not only a beginner on AutoCAD, I bought my first Mac just for this purpose So, I am new to both. I needed to get started quickly for a specific project I need to complete as soon as possible. This is a huge undertaking for me, especially since I am not terribly computer-savvy. I found this tutorial and thought it might help me learn AutoCAD for Mac, particularly for my project. I thought it might also ease me into the Mac world. I played your tutorial on my HP and set up the Mac next to it. I practiced segments of the tutorial on the Mac as I worked my way through the tutorial on the HP. It took me several days to work through the whole tutorial. Naturally, I will have to return to it as I work on my project, but think it is going to be a great reference. Searching for a good tutorial for my needs, I test-viewed quite a few others. Nothing else compared. I really want to thank you. This tutorial was perfect for my needs.

I just wanna say I'm 2nd year at the moment and the way you teach is so concise and really easy to grasp what you are teaching. We were rushed through cad in our first semester only learning certain tools and this tutorial is the best I have come across on the internet. Definitely subscribing and recommending. Maybe a revit course in the future?

Thank you. Im an old ArchitecPC user and now its not available so stepping up.Ive recently downloaded the Autocad LT Trial version for Imac and I'm trying to decide whether this is the software for me. I'm curious to know whether Autocad LT can create elevations and sections directly from the plan? Or is this a 3D feature which doesn't exist in Autocad LT. Again . Thankyou for the great tutorial.
@JayCad Жыл бұрын
Hi David! Took a while to get back to you but to answer you: * Correct, creating elevations and sections directly from the plan is a 3D feature - we use Revit to do exactly that . * Revit is also an Autodesk software but does not have a Mac version unfortunately, only Windows Pcs are supported. * Note that Autocad LT has no 3D features, only 2D commands I hope this all helps and glad the tutorial was helpful!

Is there a way to see what the original floor plan units of measurement was drawn with? I have made so many changes regarding units of meansurement, scale, dimensions, etc that I cannot figure out how to fix my floor plan. It needs to be 50' x 40'. Is there a tool like in Solidworks that dimensioning can force a scale back into dimensions?

@JayCad4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ram! You need to set the units in the UNITS window to Architectural or Engineering - that way, Autocad will understand the inch & foot symbol. You can access the UNITS window by typing “U+N+Return” I hope this helps!

@@graceseamon793 hi Grace - there's a good chance that these layers are frozen in the layout - let me know if that helps you with the problem and sorry for the delay
@onsomkit3 жыл бұрын
Hi, great tutorial, so in Vectorworks, they have design layers which is the model space in Autocad, but does Autocad have a function that you can draw on top of the previous drawing like a tracing paper? Because in Vectorworks you just create a new design layer and you can freeze the first one so it won't get ruined, like in photoshop.
@JayCad3 жыл бұрын
Hi Warina So the Model space in Autocad is essentially the drawing area where you draw everything related to your project. Autocad does have a layer function where you can organize your drawing object per layer then be able to freeze some of them or lock or hide. Exactly like Photoshop & I am guessing like Vectorworks 👍🏽 I hope this helps!
