Finally! I've been waiting for this review from AutoDeal! Although I already have my SL6, I got my unit on October 2 and have already driven it for over 1,000 km, with a remaining gas range of 640 km. I should mention that I've been able to recharge fully around five times. Basically, as long as you have access to a charger or charging station, one full tank can easily exceed the 1,000 km range.

EVs Exposes the Illusion of Legacy Luxury Cars, Legacy brands Japanese & European, often struggle with electric vehicles (EVs). The challenge isn’t just price, as their cars have always been 50-200% more expensive in some markets. The issue stems from the "exposure effect," where the industry’s mystique fades. Historically, buyers knew to go Japanese for reliability, European for luxury, and American for a unique style, while new players struggled to break in. Korean brands pushed hard but often lacked the margins, cost efficiency, or supply chain to truly compete, as combustion engine technology had plateaued with costly, marginal gains. European brands built their premium image on craftsmanship, performance, and safety. But as Chinese brands entered the EV space, they bypassed this old game and introduced EVs that offer 90% of what Legacy brands provide but at a lower price. Legacy brands feel exposed as the advantages they built over decades-like balance and weight distribution-lose relevance in EVs. Even newer players like BYD, and now Xiaomi, offer EVs with natural balance and sports car-like handling, disrupting the market that Tesla first shook. The game has shifted, and legacy brands must adapt or risk fading out.
@johnyonardpauly56013 ай бұрын
Chinese EVs make the industry more competitive, it's a win-win situation for all buyers. I wonder how much more these japanese/europian and even korean EVs cost if chinese brands don't drop these bombs.

Japanese brands are now lagging when it comes to tech inside and some safety features especially in lower priced category, they are stingy.
@busetgadapet3 ай бұрын
the market won't adapt they just slap tariff on chinese ev making them appear expensive, the tariff cause the car price increase exponentially like 2-3 times price in China
@roadbusiness66673 ай бұрын
@@busetgadapet China has leveraged their economic influence in other industries for some countries, where countries earn more in China vs locally, just like how Australia gave in to China’s demands to zero its tarrifs on its EV’s, the whole of Europe is also feeling the pressure, in fact the Chinese government has ordered its automakers, including companies like BYD, Dongfeng, MG, and Geely, to halt all plans for European factories, expansions, and even retail locations. This directive is part of China’s ongoing negotiations with Europe, where China is warning of a significant reduction in industrial development and manufacturing it had previously intended to bring to Europe-efforts that would have bolstered Europe's GDP. Europe profits substantially more from vehicle sales in China-by a 10-to-1 margin.
@Noodless163 ай бұрын
That’s because Chinese car brands only copy and then make it high tech with the features you wont find in japanese car brands.

Damn, I've always blasted brands for taking out physical air controls, especially since you'd have to take your eyes off the road. But that triple finger touchscreen commands is such a smart feature to add to the touch screen, meaning you can achieve your increase and decrease in both temperature and fan speed without looking. Of course I still prefer a knob in the end of the day, but very big props to BYD for actually coming out with viable solutions to that change.

I got mine a few hours ago. There were several buyers also taking delivery of their units. I ignored comments about quality against Japanese brands. The reason for that is my CRV’s compressor conked out on me on the 37th month, or one month after the 3 year warrant expired. My Altis’ compressor also had to be replaced on the 6th year. My Altis weatherstrip also had to be replaced after 7 years. By the way, I made reservation on Sept 22 and got the unit today Oct 31.

The *PARTY TRICK* is a must when parking the BYD, as the portrait view gives you 3 viewing screens instead of 2, and the many views are selectable. So it's actually safer in most instances to just look at the 3 screen views simultaneously to park, than contantly crane your head around to check for cars, obstacles, etc.. Whenever I go into an undercaver parking station the first thing I do is go into PORTRAIT mode. (I cannot do this earlier as the screen glass is polarised like my polaroid sunglasses, so I get a black screen if I do this in normal daytime driving.)

This is a lovely car. I just wish that NTC and AFP would come up with a regulating body that would guarantee that these Chinese brand cars does not come with hidden tech (malware in infotainment system, listening and recording device, unauthorized tracking, and whatnot) that can be used for espionage. At the cheap price they are competing, it kind of reminded me of a chinese brand cellphone (brand was Lynx) I bought in the past at a very cheap price but packed with elegant design and tech. Unfortunately, that phone came with a malware fresh from out of the box (sealed before unboxing), so instead of me buying a good product, I became the product. I disposed that phone immediately 2 days after I discovered that it takes pictures and install apps I did not approve nor download on its own. 😱
