I have a hybrid and non hybrid corolla in US. This is how you make the desicion very simple in 3yrs of owning both. If you drive freeway mostly or highway get the regular one. If you drive city hybrid is very good at gas. But if you drive few miles just get the regular one. The only way you can save money on hybrid is if you drive 40,000 miles per year and convert that in kilometers. Imagine the price difference, you can use that money for gas for over 5yrs on the non hybrid one. Goodluck on your decision on a new baby. Cheers!!!

I have been waiting for this vehicle in the states from the moment i heard about it 2 years ago, it is the only vehicle that can be the heir apparent to my current Corolla that has roughly 1,000,000 miles and is STILL my daily driver (the OD stopped counting so i don't have exact miles, but keep rough track for my business). The only problem when a manufacturer says "it will last the entire life of the car" is that it's very vague. It's the same problem with closed transmissions where the manufacturers says "it doesn't need to serviced" and that "it will last the entire life of the car". The entire life of the car may or may not be only until the warranty expires.

I was definitely surprised to see that in the Philippines the non-hybrid version comes with a full sized spare tire. Pretty much no new cars in the US come with full sized spares anymore. And I was even more surprised to see that the hybrid variant had a doughnut. Toyota is scheduled to release the hybrid version of this vehicle in the US and Canada at the end of 2023, and from what I read it would not come with a spare, “because it wouldn’t fit”. With the hybrid batteries etc under there. But now I’m wondering if in fact a tire could actually fit down there. I like this vehicle but I hate the idea of driving around without a spare. Great review!

The hybrid C Cross is very ok, just hoping that the new EV Law will significantly reduce the price. However, the non-hybrid is simply overpriced: lacks a lot of features and tech, and the cabin materials are very meh (for the price, very disappointed when I saw a unit in a dealership). Toyota Ph is shortchanging the Filipino customers w the non-hybrid. For the price (P1.3M), there are so many other better options. -Toyota admirer in terms of durability and reliability, but angry that Toyota is shortchanging Filipinos, considering that many Pinoys are loyal Toyota customers.

Hi, Caco. Thank you for the comparison video of gasoline validant and hybrid validant. Many customers are interested in the fuel efficiency of hybrid cars. Even if I watch this video, I don't think I can make up for the price difference between the two cars in terms of mileage. However, I think gasoline valiant is a good price, but I am disappointed that the equipment is low. But what do you think? Suppose you buy a Toyota car in a higher class for 1.7 million Philippine pesos and pay the same car credit as the Corolla Cross Hybrid. If the car is not fuel efficient even at the same credit price, we have to pay more to raise the price of gasoline. As you mentioned in the video, if the policy seems to further reduce the price gap between hybrid cars (even EV, plug-in hybrid, etc.) and gasoline cars in the future, the desire to buy Corolla Cross Hybrid will be even greater. Furthermore, Toyota's hybrid system is highly reliable.

They didn't emphasize that a well done hybrid is an electric car with gasoline assist (a lot of gasoline assist). You get most of the advantages of an electric car with none of the disadvantages. The gasoline engine applies torque through a planetary gearset when the electric drive needs assistance. The electric stuff allows the engine to be efficiency tuned (Atkinson cycle versus Otto cycle). The hybrid is just a nicer experience.

Both of cars are good. Since Toyota introduced GR, it has the same features as Hybrid. Hence at the end of the day, it is the story about consumption. And as I used to be an owner of CHR 1.8 hybrid, I have to admit that in a large traffic, consumption became relatively the same. For instance I have an experience of staying in traffic over an hour where batteries went out of charge and consumption is equal to 10km-l which is the same as Toyota Camry 2.5 I am currently own. So, decision of hybrid or non hybrid depends where you live and distances. But again both cars are really good.

Make sure that it is always clean and never ever onbstruct the vents as it will be prone to overheat which will prematurely damage the the hybrid battery. Mahirap na nga bilhin ang hybrid dahil most people are afraid of the hybrid. My uncle was adviced to take the non-hybrid by a Toyota employee, and that employee isn't motivated on anything other than just looking out for his father-in-law. Decontenting lower models gives buyers incentive to go for the Hybrid. Apparently it still isn't going well. I'm on the Hybrid bandwagon but I understand why people go for the non-hybrid, it's simple and most pinoys are just old fashioned conservatives.

What are common issues of hybrid engine and when do they usually surface? I'm actually planning to buy a hybrid as my future car. But wants some answers to these questions.

Based on the youtuber car care nut which is a former toyota hybrid specialist. Toyota hybrids battery are much improved compared to the first and second gens of prius. Maintenance are cheaper since there are few parts to break. The air filter near the hybrid battery should be well maintained that's what the common issues of the first and second gen of prius. But ToyotaPh's claim of the hybrid battery is just pure marketing. The truth is based in US where hybrid cars are being used for decades, hybrid batteries should last 10-15 years or 300km++ depending on the maintenance.
