Have been going through this whole playlist and it has been very educational at just the right tempo. But my god does it make me happy that you finally switched over to using metric!! One thing I loved about the previous tutorials was that you used drawings for the models. I would watch the entire video and then try to model it all by myself using the drawing. Only if I got stuck I would skip ahead in the video for help.

Thanks for this. I have a follow-up question regarding the lid design. What do you recommend the best way to keep the lid from sliding forward if ever the box been tilted forward?

You’re most welcome! For me, I would probably make a small bump on the base where it meets the lid (or underside of the lid where it meets the base) to provide a little pressure on the lid. This would prevent it from sliding out for sure. I actually had that design elements in my original tutorial idea but took it out because the tutorial was going to be too long. Thanks for asking about it.

I just updated Fusion 360 and there's no Configure tab. So I guess it's only for paid version.

Excellent tutorial. I was working on a design with parts fitting together and this helps a lot. Question: When you export to the 3d printer does the box and lid export together? Can I then move them separately to print? Question 2: How does the logo print out on the 3d printer?

Thanks so much for your comment and support. Here are some answers to your questions: Q: When you export to the 3D printer does the box and lid export together? A: No, you will need to export them as two separate files. Check out our tutorial as to how to do that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGeniGSZgtuKiZY Q: Can I then move them separately to print? A: Yes, it will explain a little bit in our tutorial how to do that. All slicing software is different, but should be similar enough to replicate what we teach in that tutorial. Q: How does the logo print out on the 3D printer? A: Depends on a number of factors. Try to always printed a logo (I’m assuming that you’ve extruded a sketched logo) on the top face of your body. If you have used a decal as your logo, that is only for rendering purposes and will not be added to your exported body for printing. Hope that helps!

Great video but something broke. I added parameters but when I changed the width parameter from 75 to something higher or lower, the lid width stayed the same. The Depth worked OK. I'm not sure that when I started the lid I really inherited the geometry from the face of the box. Is there a setting that controls that? When you tested the parameters you showed only the box and not the lid. However, it did work when you showed various configurations. I did not do the configurations as that appears to be a paid feature. I appreciate any comments you have. Thanks. BTW, I've done a lot of your videos and really have learned a lot. Irv in Florida.

Thanks so much! Don’t worry, oftentimes our model or assembly will break while figuring out parameters, especially late into our design process. Also, in this specific tutorial, parameters will have the same effect as the configurations, because the configurations example is very simple, so all should be good in that regard. Your explanation sounds like something was missed. Again, don’t worry as that sort of thing happens often. I would suggest starting again and check your parameters often throughout the design process. If all parameters work at step 1, then move on to step 2, 3, 4 and so on. If it breaks at a specific step, then you don’t have to start again, but just try me diagnose the error that just happened. Please let me know if that helps. @@learnitalready Hi... I restarted like you suggested. I think I found my error or the only thing I might have changed. When I projected the 2 insides, I don't think I had the Projection Link checked. I made sure I did and followed the video. After completing the Lid, I added parameters (even before the Joint) for Depth and Width and then checked to create different Widths...Nothing Broke!! Thanks for getting back to me and now I know something else about Fusion 360. Irv in Florida.

Finally you are using the mm system instead of inches :) Keep them coming, love your videos I see at this moment, this channel has only 1500 subscribers, I am 100% sure if you guys keep up the good work like you do so far, this channel will grow a lot. Just give it some time. Absolutely one if not the bestr channel out there for F360 videos/tutorials. I think there is more and more needs for videos regarding F360 for the 3D printing peeps. There are already millions of designs to print out there, so the next steo is to make your stuff to 3D print, this is what happened to me ;) I am so happy for people like you guys who help us noobs who are still learning.

Hey there, Great video and thanks! New to fusion. I am making a box that has a curve on the back face when I try to extrude, It either stops on on the one edge or cuts away the face if it goes to the edge of the curve. Is there a fix or way of doing this?

I made a video to help explain my situation kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5LUlYupr7OXZ5ofeature=shared I have paid just shy of 300 to people to help, and everyone is not using fusion, so I can't edit it afterwards! I just can't sort out how to make it work but there must be a way. Any push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Lots of similar tutorials, but none of them shows how to cut at angle also the back wall. Would be nice to add that detail. To achieve this there should be one final cut on the back wall from angled face (created by the cut shown in this tutorial) to the other angled face. It does the trick.

@@learnitalready Can you help me identify offset problems? Totally unrelated to this video. :) I have a sketch of a simple star shape. When I select all the geometry and click Offset I get "Could not offset curves." No other info. How do I chase this down? Time is money

Started a playlist for your videos that cover paid features. I'll circle back to the Master method once I upgrade. Meanwhile I used this as a start to design a set of seven nesting boxes. Going to get quotes and see about having them 3D printed in all different colors. Should be pretty cool!

You’re most welcome! Just to clarify, I am from Canada which uses the metric system primarily, but also imperial. You will find that our tutorials go back and forth between the two.
