I noticed that when you did the holes for the hands instead of doing a "flat" hole, you did a "angle" hole.
@learnitalreadyКүн бұрын
Ah yes! Great observation. Both are fine. The angled hole is useful in manufacturing. To create that type of hole, a standard drill would be used. Flat end holes could be created using plastic injection methods or other techniques. Are you enjoying this series? Would love to see your finished projects.

This is really cool, take your project and make it special 😁. I can see where this can be quite handy for "showcasing" a design to a client , it gives the design some flavour not just the normal bland design one would expect, my 5c worth. Thank you for showing us this and also the external link for more backgrounds, can see myself using this in the near future. 🤩🏆

Must say the assembly and motion settings were quite simple to do as we have done a few on the other tutorials. Once all was assembled it looked great, however 😄, i still had "visible construction lines" on the parts and it was driving me nuts! First thought that some sketches were visible, ensured all was turned off... nope. Then went into each part and done the same.... nope. (PS if you do make changes to any parts when you go back to the mini figurine it does warn you to do an update as there were changes, pretty cool) . Eventually went into the display settings (Bar at the bottom/middle of view screen, little computer screen) and voila change to "visual style shaded" had the one with hidden edges on 😆. This tutorial is fantastic and opens a lot of possibilities on future designs, the ability to see the project AND move components . Again you are a champion so glad i found this channel!!👍🏆

May I ask, why do you have such anger towards a unit of measurement? Or is your anger directed towards people that use metric? Why? What do you gain from expressing such anger?

And if I change the first sketch and the try to extrude, it will hide the sketch so I can not extrude the new addition
@learnitalready3 күн бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. It is a little difficult to understand what is happening with your part. When you activate the sketch, you shouldn't see holes yet, but just points. If there are diagonal lines then there must be end points. Hover your mouse cursor over the endpoints to see them. Next step, make sure the sketch is visible by making sure the eye is toggled on, but don't enter or edit the sketch. Then, select the HOLE tool and select those individual points on your sketch. That should do it! If not, please reach out again. Thanks!

@@learnitalready Thanks for your quick response. So when I go to edit the front via the timeline, whether I double click or try to find edit with right clicking I do not get any options to edit. I looked it up online & verified that I do have timeline capture enabled. I closed the app & reopened, still the same issue. When I right click the only option that comes up with the word edit, is edit sketch. That then leads me to something completely different than your screen.

Thank you so much for your comment. Great question too! The direction of your extrude often depends on your datum location (or the surface that measurements/dimensions are based off of). I would love to explain much more about datum references since a good understanding of datums can drastically improve all fields related to manufacturing, including CAD, CAM, 3D printing and more. 3:32 Bruh, you can't talk about doing this in metric and then say 240 mils (which is 0.240")! Same thing at 10:50: that's 105mm, not 105 mils. Anyway, this video is awesome! I appreciate your instruction! To answer your question about what I might use this for, I have a vehicle that is getting old and some of the interior plastic parts are breaking. I recently purchased a 3D printer which is new territory for me to be able to make things at home. I've been toying with the idea of printing new parts for the vehicle (mainly storage locations in the doors that have cracked), but I wasn't sure how to even begin. Some of the AC/heater vent covers are broken, too! Maybe I can do something about that.

@@learnitalready Thanks for the link. I am inline with the machinist who commented on that poll. I usually think of mils when thinking of the thickness of plastic sheets or nitrile gloves, but would almost always say, "1 thou, or 50 thousands" etc. when referring to the thickness of a part. I spent a few years doing part inspections at various manufacturers in the south western US, and that's has been the norm over the years. I just had some guests recently from Canada and told them I am jealous of how easily they can switch between imperial and metric units. Aside from some measurements, I usually have to Google (or ask Alexa) how far <fill in the blank> is when something is communicated in metric.
