Hi Kenner, I'm not familiair with 3DS, but in Inventor there is the option to send your open file to 3DS, Use the Suite workflows for that, should work.

This is one of CAD applications family. This modeling style is common for all the family. CAD systems are using two modeling systems: solid and shell. This guy is modeling using solid method. You can use same method in 3ds for ex. The only difference is that in 3ds You can freely modify mesh however You like. CAD applications are more prcise and accurate. Long story short - CAD apps are for engineers and 3ds-like are for artists:)

You should look at Autodesk Alias, you can draw your ideas there, create a 3D surface model out of it and import in in Inventor to create the production models

The tutorial is very good, thanks! I made my own rim, and I see, that the image quality is not the same, like in the turorial. :( I use Inventor 2014 with Nvidia GTX 675 MX card. I click between software render and normal, high quality render, and nothing differance happen. Is it passible? In my screen the AA seems to me worst, and the curves uglyer. What is the problem?

Good tuto. i'm stuck at only one step, when you have to intersect your revolved profile with your "branch". This tool remove everything except what inside the revolution, and i don't have the "solid" selection available. Well helpful btw.

How did you find out the dimensions? I've spend hours searching for the standard values of a certain tyre type: 195/45R16. But I can't seem to find it.
