I just want to be crystal clear that this is about the Manufacturing Extension, which includes additional functionality ON TOP of what's in the $495/year version of Fusion 360. You do NOT need this additional subscription to use the bulk majority of the manufacturing tools in Fusion 360. If you are wondering how personal use ties into all of this, please refer to the blog post www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/changes-to-fusion-360-for-personal-use/ and the FAQ knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fusion-360-Free-License-Changes.html

If I pay to use steep/shallow or trim, and the I stop paying, will I be able to edit or even regenerate the tool path I already paid for it? The answer is no.You are forcing users into a pay to play model like a video game that everyone hates. Add in the way you are treating the hobbyists (basically your beta testers) and you can see why you have a marketing nightmare on your hands... Great job!

Not really, sure it's a fair bit of money, but it's still fairly cheap compared to other advanced CAD/CAM systems. Fusion 360 itself is a bargain compared to other software. Sure, it's fairly expensive for a hobbyist, but I don't think most hobbyists even have machines that can use most of those functions and for the functions they could use, it's mainly about saving time and effort. For professional use it probably saves you money to have your CAM team spend less time, but that's not really relevant for hobbyists. In a professional setting, ~200 ISD a month is nothing compared to the wage for the person using the software anyway :) I look at the other way, Autodesk let's us with smaller budgets have access to a very powerful software for a very good price, or even for free for hobbyists with a reasonable amount of restrictions. And for the companies that need/want the extra functionality, it's available at a competitive price.

@@Robinlarsson83 Thanks for the reply Robin, In my experience when someone says 'that might seem like a lot' ask yourself why would they even bring it up if it wasn't. I don't think they haven't got the pricing of the Manufacturing Extension right at the moment and perhaps they should decouple it from the unlimited Simulation coins feature to make it cheaper.

It really seems like you people believe that they are making Fusion 360 or all of its CAM functionality more expensive? That is not the case, this is just for the Manufacturing Extention, which most people don't need anyway. Where is the lie? They are adding new functionality at a premium price, you don't have to buy it, and if you have machines and schedules to need it, this cost is hardly even noticeable and very competitive to other softwares out there?

Aha, I could bet that your business was using Fusion 360 with personal license. Otherwise, it would be absolutely stupid to cancel existing license because of the emotions. This is the main reason why Autodesk change the licensing for personal usage.
@Lu-ql5tj
@Lu-ql5tj 3 жыл бұрын
@@Grazvius My company was using the comercial license. This is not emotions.This is the result and fault of a capitalist and stupid ruled company. If they do this for the free license means that someday they will do it for the paid license. As they already did it on the past. This is the confirmation that Autodesk didn't change and continues with the same path.
@Grazvius
@Grazvius 3 жыл бұрын
Luís Carlos, of course, you already took into account the time you will need to spend learning new tools and adopting your company’s workflow, perhaps buying new tools. All this will cost you more than 500 USD. And add additional costs that you already spent on current license(s), trainings, building workflow. If you will easily wipe all these to recycle bin, this means: a) emotions or/and b) you do not have a paid subscription.

Sorry how can you screw over someone when it's a free product? You can't... it's free. It's really sad, how many people are ungrateful for having a free tool. It's clear to me that no one should ever give anything for free anymore because it's clearly not appreciated, it's taken for granted instead.

Thanks for sharing your opinions in the comments! Whether you think the pricing is fair or not, these two things (daily option and trial option) are requests we were hearing the most when we initially launched the extension. I think the option to trial what's in the extension is super key, as it didn't make sense to pay for what you hadn't seen. I also think a lower cost daily subscription option is great for people who can't afford the $1500 yearly subscription, and now there are 3 options to weigh vs just one monthly choice so we aren't forcing anyone's hand. These are my opinions and not those of Autodesk.

@@ScottMoyse Far from being ungrateful mate! If you actually saw the aspect which most of us who are having a very hard time understanding their crystal clear as mud descriptions of what they are now removing you may see why we are very annoyed. They've advocated for many many years to lure people in like myself who started out with nothing, built and designed their own machines with no knowledge, then had to learn how to use their CAD system and then CAM to then have this massive bombshell news dropped out of nowhere! So many small artisan places teaching people with little or no income into the industry using the program who, well if you go and check the multiple forums and public pages you will see how many share the same feelings as myself. So many who have spent so long learning how to use it, adapt to work around what they can afford and produce videos, tutorials and things and it all just feels like one big honey pot to lure in people then make them pay at the end. We cannot afford such ludicrous price jumps as hobbyists, we're not massive turn over companies or have huge salaries. Just a very sad time which is clearly shared worldwide and is now going to have a massive impact.

@@ScottMoyse I understand the costs of software development. I worked for IBM's software division for 22 years and I saw product after product die off due to the short-sighted revenue-is-all focus by management. Look where IBM is now. The incremental cost of one downloaded piece of software is ZERO. I think it's a good plan to have a hobbyist / student level, either free or reasonably priced. I switched to Fusion360 for this reason, but I can't use the new Eagle/PCB component due to its arbitrary size restriction for my hobby projects. The pricing move described in this video is the first wedge in a plan to lose all of the goodwill they've built up in the hope of making more money.
