This is a better video than the Haynes one. I installed KYB rear shocks at 100K miles on my '08 LX. The 19 mm nut at the top of the shock would not come all the way off while simultaneously trying to secure the rod from spinning by gripping the flats at the top of the rod (1:54 in the video). I had to remove the fender liners (pretty easy). Then cut away the plastic covering the polished shock rod and clamp the rod as tightly as possible with a large set of locking pliers (two sets would be even better). Then remove the nut using a good impact wrench with a u-joint and 19 mm socket.

The "beehive" part behind / over the axle is called a "bump stop" or "axle snubber".... dealer part only...I just bought a pair & KIA is proud of them....!!

When changing the rear shocks, i want to change the rear bushings on my 2011 Kia Sorento. A 10 mm wrench is to small and a 11 mm wrench is to big to take off the bushing bracket nuts. is there a special tool for removing the rear bushing bracket nuts?

KIA make OK cars but they are shitty about supplying parts to garages, a real pain in the arse and for that reason I will never buy another!
