@graybeard736 жыл бұрын
The K&N filters are more expensive and fit a bit tighter, but if you drive in dusty conditions, they will pay for themselves after 3 or 4 paper filters. You pull a lot of dust through the cowl vent. That dust will eventually begin clogging the a/c - heater coils and cause premature problems with that system. K&N states you do not oil then like the air filters, but they sell an air freshener, if you like smelling that stuff.

Old cars also had a floor vent with a screen on it. You'd drive down the road and open the vent and air would blow up your pants leg ( cuz all men worn slacks back then ). When the screen rusted away wasp would be injected straight into your pants , resulting in many one-car accidents.

Nice video. I need to do this on our Jeep. My old Jeep had these from the factory with the auto climate controls(totally not worth it) I replaced them once with carbon filtered ones for even snootier air, but they really restricted the air flow too much to recommend them. Your next super easy upgrade should be headliners. They make a big difference with the heat, and help with some noise. It’s way cheaper to do it yourself with mopar part or aftermarket than getting it from the factory.

Admittedly I haven't looked on my Jeep yet, but on most other cars that I've owned the airflow is top down. If you think about it the fresh air enters through the vents at the back of the bonnet (sorry, hood). When any debris like leaves and twigs get in they would sit on top of the filter

I accidentally broke the screen on my 2010 Wrangler. Now I cant find a cabin filter for the 2010. I saw the K&N filter for a 2011 on Amazon but the seller states it will NOT fit a 2010. Looks I broke it for nothing because nobody carries one for a 2010. However I was thinking they're probably only saying its not compatible because its damn near impossible to get to it without breaking or cutting the screen.
