I even remember the old WJ he had. If I remember correctly, he had an exhaust issue repair in the desert he had to do. I went with the Bolt lock on mine. I did look at the kind you have. I just didn't like the idea of having another key on my key ring (Bolt uses your Jeep key) plus having to unlock my hood "twice". That phone mount is sweet. I like to find something like that for my Vector bar. Great video as usual!

I had a Mopar Hood Lock installed on my 2011 JK not long after purchasing it and experiencing the flutter. It helps with the flutter, and it self codes to the ignition key eliminating the need for more keys. Definitely a must to prevent unwanted visitors under the hood. Should be a factory install in my mind.

I finally got the hood latches installed. Boy, you sure made it look easier than it really was! It was a 5 hand deal for me. I had to put the sockets on the wrench after I had them in the panel to get it to fit. Then there was the whole dropping the nut over and over again… 😂 Now that they are on the work was worth it! Good flutter will definitely no longer be a thing. Thanks again for another install!

My first wrangler experience was a jku willys rental, had a blast out in Vegas in some recreational areas and near "area 51". However I found out about hood flutter on that trip, without any prior knowledge of it, and it scared the hell out of me at first 🤣. Really glad they ditched that design for the jl(u), 21k miles on our JLURD and no hint of hood flutter. The locking feature is quite nice though. I was debating a Bolt hood lock setup but not really a fan of the air obstruction it creates, even though it isn't that bad.

If you didn’t plan to swap out your radio, the scosche DVD mount is even better than the 3M one. I ran the 3M version on all my cars from autoX to canyon spirited driving and the wrangler dash line doesn’t work well with the 3M.. the DVD mount keeps the phone out of line of sight and is just as solid when tightened and adjusted just like the 3M version.

Hello….I’ve bought this kit off of Amazon upon your recommendation. I have a 2011 Wrangler Sport 2 door. Unfortunately on my Jeep the front by the stock locks is incredibly cramped. I was able, with GREAT difficulty, to install the left side of the hood. The right side is unbelievably cramped and I’m barely able to touch the mounting nut of the lower part of the hood latch. Also on my Jeep the former owner installed wheel well dams blocking access from underneath. HELP!!!! What do I do??!?

It sounds like the inside wheel well liners that the previous owner installed are blocking you so take them out of the way for this install. Fairly common for getting behind stuff like that. It'll just take a few more minutes.

I don't know if you have better luck with these hood locks out West but out by me in the North East, those things wouldn't make it through a single winter. Calcium chloride road salt works it's way into the inner locking mechanism and that's all she wrote...locking fuel caps/doors, rotopax & HiLift mounts etc. I unfortunately learned that the hard way.

Didn't even think of that... lucky out here in SoCal!

@@AutoEdits the region where folks reside plays a big part in their outlook & opinions when it comes to their builds. What works out West might not be ideal in the East Coast. For example, folks love those Patagonias out West & rightfully so. That's because they simply work on that terrain. Where as out East...not so much. It's rare that you'll see folks running those tires on the trails out East. People are so encapsulated in their regional bubble that they don't take the variables of different terrain in other regions into account.
