Not to be confused with the before-its-time Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid saloon, the Fisker Ocean is an all new, eco-focused electric SUV with its sights set firmly on the Tesla Model Y. But unlike its main rival, this is so much more than an iPad on wheels; the Ocean has been thoughtfully designed, with loads of clever features and bags of personality. Allow Steve Fowler to take you for a drive...

The stock symbol is FSR 🍺 I picked up some shares. Currently 40% short interest, that's why you see all these weird post trying to discredit the car. Also some tesla fan boys get scared of competition. I like the car and reserved one 🍺

Remember when shorts almost buried Tesla? They are playing the same game with FSR. Everyone should buy this stock and support Fisker. They will make amazing cars, and also get you very rich if you get em shares right now. The company only has a 2bn market cap. Tesla has 800bn. Now imagine that 2bn MK rising to 200 or to 400bn... Add to that the 40% short interest... Yep you get it. 🚀🚀🚀

Lol. Yeah, everyone looking for a sedan with five inches of ground clearance that LOOKS like a crossover but is definitely not one, has less than average cargo space, costs the same as the far superior Model Y Perfomance WITH the full self driving package, has an inferior charging network to use, from a company that will certainly be bankrupt soon, everyone shopping in that space will be thrilled. Oh, and it weighs 600lbs more than the Model Y, which is why no footage of this car doing tight curvy roads at speed exist, and you will never ever see it doing the Moose test, because it would fail at 30 mph. Yeah, everyone in the market for a car that is okay for driving on good condition straight paved roads...and nowhere else...

I just cant get past the fact that they once again don't understand that using a car is not like using a computer. One of the nicest things about the Hyundai Ioniq 5+ series is that they have found a wonderful balance between knobs and computer. The stuff you need to be able to find whilst looking out the frontview window are accessible using physical knobs that you can sense your way too. It's an absolute put-off for me to have a vehicle where I need to take my eyes off the road to adjust simple things that requires my vision to do it.

Looks good. I like it. They deserve to have a bit of success with this having been a bit too early to the party the first time round. However, I do think you're taking a bit of a leap of faith to buy one...for the vast majority of people, there is no history to the brand. Is the car going to last? are they going to stand up to their warranty? are you going to be able to get problems sorted easily? Building the car is almost the easy bit (because Magna Steyr will do it for you). Supporting it afterwards with the right services and infrastructures is the hard bit.

Residuals also. Nobody is going to finance this at scale (eg lease companies) or offer via company car schemes to employees. No infrastructure as you say. Genesis are Hyundai and it's one reason I didn't buy one - very few dealerships.

I loved this car from the moment videos & images began to come out. I'm going to be buying an EV next year, probably February or March, so I've been watching developments closely for quite a while. In November 2022, Fisker told me they would begin shipping to the UK "later this month". They've been repeating "later this month" for a year now. It doesn't matter how good the vehicle looks on KZbin, I'm not putting a deposit down until I've seen one in the flesh, no matter how often Fisker's marketing ask me to. I'm a wheelchair user, so I have additional requirements from any vehicle (able to fit hand controls and a boot hoist for the chair), so my options are limited. If they don't hit the UK by the end of the year/mid-January 2024, I'll be giving up on them altogether, and get my second choice, a VW ID Buzz. Come on Fisker, tell us for real when they are going to be available... ...or not.

I liked your review - very honest. Fisker should watch out it doesn't spend too much time and money on gimmiky stuff and not enough on quality and fit and finish though it does look good. I hear a lot of the tech features are not working yet so I would be interested in a more in depth review in the future. I got exposed to Fisker a little late so I have reserved a Pear instead which looks to be even more innovative. About the time it comes out I may be looking for something to replace my Kia EV6 which is the first car I have ever really loved. Thanks.

The best based on what.? Remember a car should be reliable for 10-20 years, not just looking at photos of if. Fisker has a huge reputation of bad quality. This brand needs at least 5 years if not 10 to prove it's worth a damn. I mean, look at tesla, even today, there are some problems, and they are on top of it and have grown into an actual company. Fisker is a nobody right now. Looks interesting but not worth their asked sums. Needs a huge servicing network to be sure in case of anything bad, you can have it fixed, and parts available quickly. It doesn't deserve anything yet.

Two Things: 1. Calling that an SUV is a HUGE stretch. It’s a crossover at best. 2. I love that they integrated PV into the roof. However, the transparent glass design is completely unnecessary. Not a bad first effort. I wish this company all the best. I like their model of outsourcing manufacturing...for now. This car is made in Austria by specialist, and they will do the same for their next vehicle, the PEAR. It will be made in Ohio, USA but Foxconn, the same outfit oit of Taiwan that makes the popular iPhone. I want to see models coming out faster if Fisker is going to distinguish itself. The platform used in this car can be used in atleast 3 more distinct cars. If they watch out for quality and pay attention to customer service, this company can survive.

@bullshitbingo2259
@bullshitbingo2259 11 ай бұрын
@@JOfAllTStill debatable, at 105kmh/65mph (avarage constant speed) it takes around 21kwh, often more, divide this by the net capacity of the largest battery of 105kwh and you will have a highway range of 500km or 310miles (this is what counts as nobody needs 400miles city range). At higher speeds or bad weather conditions it will be much much lower, especially for an SUV. This is by no means groundbreaking and is only achieved by the large battery. Many upcoming competitors will be much better. But besides that, the maximum charging speed of only 175kw makes the large battery less useable, resulting in waiting times of 35 minutes for 10-80%soc (and even more in winter, probably up to 45 mins!). It will be outdated in just a couple of months. The software and the driver assistance features are already outdated or non-existent. Only the entry level Ocean makes sense.

@@bullshitbingo2259 What is debatable? That EVs have lower range at higher speeds? There is no debate here .. this is well known. If the debate is about Oceans range being less than advertised vis-a-vis other EVs in its class, that is simply not true. Real world testing shows Ocean gets 85mpge on highways and 99mpge on local roads (EPA even includes transmission/convertion losses, absolute numbers are much higher). EPA combined rating is 92, which results in 360 miles of range. Ocean was one of rhe first cars where EPA did the tests themselves because they suspected 3rd party testing. If one were to only drive on highway the whole time, range would be about 315 miles. Obviously, YMMV .. just like with gas cars

The software will never be ready. Fisker's first company shipped their Karma with UI so slow owners were breaking the touch screens trying to get it to respond. Fisker is old Detroit, he knows jack about software, and his company hired all of the best unemployed software engineers in a market where companies are in bidding wars for good software engineers, which is to say anyone who was available for Fisker to hire is known in the industry to suck at their jobs. I predicted the software would be late and unfinished literally years ago and many times since, so I am not just having 20/20 hindsight here. It took the company that bought Fisker's last company two years to fix the software Fisker had shipped the Karma with, before they were willing to ship a car with the software.

1500 miles of free range per year - I only do about 6000 miles a year! And I do park in open air for work Monday to Friday. If all EVs had something similar, it'd save owners even more money compared to ICE

Listening to that drivers door closing at 3.40, I would have to dispute any claim as to 'quality'.......it sounded really cheap and how long is that 'fish and chip flap' really going to last.. Other than that, good looking, roomy, nice interior, decent price (for an EV). Just needs a good 2 litre petrol engine to lose the weight of the battery, motors, electrical wiring and gubbins, which would, in turn, improve the ride, handling, steering, brakes.....and it would probably be even cheaper.🤔

We need car like this on the market to make other manufacturers compete at the same level and price, tired of seeing overpriced low range cars and they can because nobody is there to challenge them. This should open the market. Every car on the market with a 400mile range usually starts near £100k yet this is £60k and fully loaded with all the options.

Excellent review, thank you. A small reminder: Lots/many of the viewers of this YT channel are most likely above average interested in EV´s and have probably read about or seen other videos already of the car, so for many of us the big "whoaaa" for the California mode, and solar panels, could easily be replaced with a feature-presentation more consistent with "not been there but already seen and heard it x times." "Sober" is always and universally good, also in presentations of features that have been declared and presented months ago as part of the marketing of the vehicle. Other than that - good job. p.s. to those of you that have never heard of these two features: Ignore the previous message.

9:21 Firm ride with steering that's “vague/fake feeling...doesn't have any feel to it...there's no feedback...the steering just isn't great”? Sounds like following the foot steps of Tesla Model Y (& 3) in “ride/steering compromise” department. LOL

A few things here, why no glovebox? I keep insurance papers, registration, tire gauge, winter gloves, work gloves, napkins in there, all the necessities. Love the touchscreen, finally something to park and watch movies.. but the buttons are too freaking low! The bottons should be adjustable, or have auxiliary buttons on the door or steering wheel. Having them that low would probably prove to be a distraction, I'd really have to test and see for myself. California mode looks real fun, I'd definitely be on the fence with that one.

Why is everyone saying this car is great value for money? Spec for spec it’s no better than any other, it’s just they are offering it for a lower price because it has no spec in it as standard.

Except it is just a bloated sedan, the car has just five inches of ground clearance, and anyone who braves even a slightly rutted dirt road with an Ocean will regret it. Sports cars available with more ground clearance than this "SUV" include the Ford Mustang, Subaru BRZ, Mazda MX5 Miata, Toyota GR86, Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Corvette, BMW M8...

Every about this car seems cheap -- opposite of what's being claimed. The components look and sound like cheap plastic which won't last long, especially parts like the "fish'n chips flap." And that tray instead of a glove box? Ridiculous. Hardly anybody is going to use that. Can it even securely hold a cup? And that rotating display? Just pick a position and design for it. It's already bad enough we have to put up with all these touch panels in vehicle while we're driving, now we have to learn two form factors? At least they put some buttons there -- but they're mostly the same buttons on the steering of other vehicles. The boot isn't any different than something like a RAV4, except it's less. And how much do those solar panels increase the cost versus the amount you'd save from the slightly less charging needed at home (especially with Home PV installed)? For the price, what does this EV give us that others simply do not?
