I am 20+ years removed from the car industry. I started as a 16yo kid washing cars which evolved to detailing and eventually painting before a career change at 22. Your videos are very educational and have inspired me to take better care of my vehicles and appreciate the gratification of a clean vehicle again. Keep it command thank you.

I'm just coming across this video in 3/24. I'm a driveway/enthusiast who still thinks that even at 6 years old, this video is relevant. Even in 2024, with all of the newest, latest & greatest - good carnuba wax, STILL has its place, especially with looks and appearance. I really enjoyed your critique of the pastes. When it comes to the Collinite well...if it's hard to come off, then it's hard to come off! Lol...hence it's durability. Gr8 stuff. I look forward to seeing your other vids. Shine on you crazy diamond!

@@autofanaticcars I just joined your channel. Absolutely love the content and videos. I just discovered Colinite 845 insulator wax last week so this Saturday, I am trying Colinite 976 double coat wax this weekend. I grew up polishing cars with my father starting in 1984 when I was 8 years old. Uggg, those monthly sessions of waxing in the driveway were overbearing sometimes because his product of choice was Simonize in the yellow can or blue coral by hand. Let simonize dry more than a minute, it was like candle wax. Now a days, I bought cordless Ryobi orbital buffer from home Depot to do my cars. Once again, luv your channel.

Collinite 915 is Collinite's attempt at a boutique wax is the same as Collinite 476S and 885 Fleetwax, just with a coconut scent and cost much more. Apply it thinner the better the protection a tin should last you more than 40 years if you apply it twice per year on an average size car. I personally like Collinite 845 Insulator Wax it is easier to work with and durability is just little less than 476S. Finish Kare 1000P High Temp paste wax is giving the Collinites a run for the money and most detailers have replace it over the Collinites.

Agree with everything you said about the bottle O' Wax products from CG etc; but Collinite 845 is great. I just got a new car and its without a ceramic coating. I've just done a winter prep, started V07 drying aid, 1 coat of 845, cured for 3 hour, and applied 1 coat of 915. the slickness and Gloss is miles ahead of the Gtechniq coating I had on my old Mustang.

Hey man - Because I like trying different waxes, I've tried a bunch - one of the was the P21S that you show here. I think it works great but also had a similar opinion as you regarding the size and the need to scoop it out....then...I figured out that the P21S product is pretty dense and turning the container upside down, allowing the brick of wax to partially fall down onto a foam machine pad (don't let it all the way out of the white container, just hold it to the pad) - it was awesome. Just turn the machine on low for a moment and you have product on the pad. I really liked this setup. The only downside is when the P21S was almost run out, it was easy for it to fall out of the container during the process - and it fell on the ground, ruining it.

Depending on the car and the risk for getting wax on trim and such - I love a machine on slow with a blue/grey or whatever pad is the no-cut, soft applicator pad. It's fast and honestly, feels like it's more evenly applied.

Well, I used R222/P21S quite a lot and it definitely looks different how the wax spreads and dries on the surface shown in the video, to me it just seemed it was the Mother's that was applied.. to buff it out, same thing, it is just drier than how it shows in the video. And I quite don't understand how one would wax 4 times the same spot if since the very first layer of wax would already fill the paint, treating the surface... of course the second layer always enhance the previous one, but 4 I bet it doesn't get absorbed by the paint. I always had great results applying the P21S with bare hands. Nice information in the video overall!

A tin of Collinite 476S or a bottle of 845IW will do around 60-80 average size cars or last the average user 40 years if used twice a year. Apply very very thin, you should not be able to see any product on the paint just a thin transparent film will give the best results and protection. Applying it too thick will make it hard to remove and you will be wasting product as you are wiping it all off.

what is your opinion on ceramic coatings?
@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 6 жыл бұрын
considering most of my friends pissed thousands of dollars on them and all my cars look better, well thats my opinion, i enjoy the upkeep of my rides as is and the results speak for themselves even on camera.

I'm gonna have to break down and check it out. When I first got into detailing I was deciding between the FK and the other other Collinite tin...I chose FK hi temp and it just worked so well I never tried anything else on my personal. But technically it's a sealant so a little different. Love the channel!

Fusso is the most durable wax but 915 is the best wax for shine and show use.

Why not just use ceramicpro and just wash the car. I'd rather spend time driving instead of waxing all the time.
@autofanaticcars

the car in this video is a $250k custom car which is best not to use a ceramic coating on in my opinion. waxing is part of the therapy of detailing cars.

@@autofanaticcars- what is the disadvantage of using ceramicpro?
@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 4 жыл бұрын
need to be careful on repainted cars because paints take very long to fully cure and using a coating can cause millions of pinholes in the finish. we learned this from experience so we kinda stay away from coatings in some instances that are not OEM paints.

Throw that wax garbage away. That's prehistoric technology. Ceramic coatings are the way to go and even the spray and wipes like GTechniqs C2V3, CarPro's Reload, Polish Angel's Cosmic Spritz are easier and faster to use, last longer and have more gloss and out of these world hydrophobic qualities plus are way way more chemical resistant.

Ha stop buying into that hype.. Its all about money.. Yes they are good but u have to keep washing your car with special high price product s and they dnt actually protect much of anything.. Still scratch plus more.. I do detail for a living and dnt care much for it unless u have a show car or something that u dnt even drive
@rogerbaron9514

What a bogus statement. I've done plenty of vehicles using GTechniqs Crystal Serum Light. It's lasted 2 1/2 years and still going strong. The cars stay cleaner longer. Way easier and faster to wash and dry. Chemicals and salt doesn't take it off like wax that does't last a week in the winter. Any decent inexpensive car wash like form Chemical Guy works and a spray sealant once every other month is all it takes. Scratches will happen but due to the coating being thicker than wax will help minimize them some. You still need to use proper washing techniques. They aren't armor but are a million times more effective than wax.

@@rogerbaron9514 it was a bogus statement but u ended up proving me point? How hilarious is that.. Like i said i do this all day everyday.. I Have def done coatings i just know what i know.. If you do this for a living and you believe coatings have no benefit then you're a con man because wax and sealants lasts maybe weeks not years.
