I've known the owner for many years and honestly seeing the car having this treatment is amazing! Life, family, kids and his back issues ment it sat idle for years and he really loves this car. I do headliners for a living, can honestly say I've done more VAGs than enything else. Imo its not manufactorer related, mostly weather affects them, esp hot weather.

Yeah, definitely. Dry clean is a better approach to prevent sagging. Not sure about E38s, but I know E46s have very weak adhesive that likes to give up, especially with heat and moisture. I believe E39s are similar.

Yes mate the 2.8 24v straight 6 would have had 197 bhp when new and I regularly got mine over 150 mph .brilliant car it was

As much as I love E38’s, this isn’t to my taste. Oversize 20” MK Motorsport wheels, air ride, M Contour front seats with a half leather rear, eBay pedal set and ACS steering wheel badge etc. I guess times have moved on now, and these sorts of cars are better standard. The roof spoiler is just wrong! But, it’s a nice colour (stratos grey I think) and has some nice 750i hop ups like leather dash, centre console etc. Plus it looks like it’s had rear climate control retro fitted. Tints need to go, as do the US plinths. Stick it back on oem shocks with eibachs and mint M parallels. It would look far more elegant. Lovely work as always.

I agree with you on most of the modifications you mentioned, with the exception of the 20" MK Motorsport wheels. 20" MK Motorsport wheels are very rare but classic and really make the car stand out. I wish you could still get them here in the US. The M Parallel wheels came with my 740i M-Sport, and they are very common and prone to cracking even though they're only 18". The Alpina front spoiler and bIack kidney grills are also nice. The roof spoiler is horrible, and the air suspension drops too low. I was happy when the letters on the back window were removed and was hoping the roof spoiler was next.

This car remains to be one of the best looking sedans ever. A lot of elbow grease and plentiful bottles of cleaning product later, it looks like factory once again. The colour on this one is stunning! I understand it started as a hobby/project for the owner, looking at some interior parts? Let's hope we can admire this beauty on the roads again soon. Lovely job lads! I also love a 7 series but I'm not a fan of those aftermarket wheels. Alpina style wheels would be more fitting. Also the inside of the headlights need restoring. Then that car will be 🤤
