nice. a friend of mine has this car and says there's a lot of traction loss in first and second gear, but its a great car overall! I love my FR, but wish I had a cupra sometimes ;) although the exhaust really lacks in sound for such a sporty car. he gets about 7 l/100km when hes driving economical.
@ACS6077 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, do you have the 1.4 FR 150 evo tsi? I'm looking to buy one because a Cupra would cost me too much money in running costs so want something cheap, with reasonable performance and can keep my license. What's yours like to live with?
@3dgarz7 жыл бұрын
I have one and I love it although I kind of wished I got the 1.8 for the extra power - not that the car is slow by any means but it is definitely more of a momentum car than being able to floor it out of corners. Obviously its safer cus you can maintain more traction but unless you do lots of miles I'd go for the 1.8 instead.
@ACS6077 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! I'll consider the 1.8 but since i rarely drive out of the city i may still go for the cheaper to tax 1.4.
@3dgarz7 жыл бұрын

I assume the comment you refer to at 25:25 was mine. My point was not that the FWD understeers more. It understeers less than the AWD. The torque vectoring is higher on the FWD since the outer wheel spins faster and has more torque than the inner wheel. On the AWD much of the power when accelerating through a corner or roundabout is transferred to the rear wheels with no differential. The result is that both wheels on the rear pulls the same, and therefore the torque vectoring is smaller leading to more understeering and less fun... Anyway there are indeed many benefits of having AWD in an everyday life. As Jordi Gene commented he might prefer the AWD in daily use, but the FWD on the race track...

That's a Major Upgrade (Salutes the General Driving Part 👍🏼). Personally I enjoy Seat's small squeaks, rattles and bangs, it gives them more character than the VW siblings. Also the slight lack of refinement allows the car to deliver the kick to the kidneys nicer too when accelerating hard. Yes, manual hear boxes are a dying breed, let's enjoy them as much as we can today.
@giorgospapaspyros41837 жыл бұрын
Says who that you won't get squeaks, rattles and bangs in a VW?
@AlektronPrime7 жыл бұрын
+Giorgos Papaspyros my personal experience of driving some 12 years various VW group vehicles at various stages of their life cycles. As rentals, test vehicles or company cars. The probability of a Golf or an A3 to develop the same number of noises as quick is very low. Also many of the internieur suppliers for the Seat, are a bit less good and not approved for the rest (Jako, Gumotex, Mistra, Fehrer just to name a random few).
@giorgospapaspyros41837 жыл бұрын
Well my personal experience as an owner detaining for a considerable amount of time various VW and SEAT branded vehicles which were bought first hand, says that rattles, squeaks and bangs are present in VWs too. Not to menton more terrific findings in that famous VW quality (peeling off plastics, detached upholsteries etc). What I have seen is that VAG cars not only share the greatest part of their components including parts inside the cabin, but also they share what is crucial, the manufacturing design and process. The few pieces that can be exclusive to one model or another rather than one brand or another, can be limited to the shell that covers the exact same underpinnings and there it is the assembly precautions that matter the most for those rattles or squeaks rather than the suppliers themselves. Also I do not share your view on the supposed expertise of the suppliers undertaking contracts for one brand or another, as most of the independent suppliers you know, do not tend to hold exclusivities with clients. This would be even more difficult inside a group that works on synergies and produces in plants across many countries in the world. Nothng else other my personal experience over time has taught me that the supposed gap in the build quality between VW and SEAT is a hoax aiming at overrating one subling over the other to be sold at an inflated price.
@AlektronPrime7 жыл бұрын
+Giorgos Papaspyros I am not a VW fanboy, don't get me wrong. It is one of those scenarios - I like an FR but after a Bocanegra I wouldn't buy one on my own again. Quality poles show other brands being much better than the VW group. Including the spare parts where say Honda is much better. VW has say Bosch as original and General Mogul as spare that's where they increase the profit margin. It is mayhaps not the right forum to split up the sourcing and assembly strategy of Seat or VW, I am sure there will be many happy customers for this specific Cupra model and rightly so :)

I have the DSG fart & the pops and crackles when coasting on my manual Cupra 290 :D the secret is to always reset the cupra mode when starting the engine. (even if it was in cupra mode when the engine was turned off)
@autogefuehl7 жыл бұрын
+George Eisikovits interesting!
@KING0SISQO4 жыл бұрын
They say that even if you left it in cupra mode. When you turn the engine off and on again, it shows it’s in cupra mode but It’s actually reset into normal mode. I can’t see why they just didn’t let it go back in normal mode by default so there is no confusion for those that actually think it’s still in cupra mode. This is verified in the manual. Same for my Leon FR.

The problem with most hothatches is that they are so screaming "look at me!". This Cupra on the other hand is so anonymous. In my opinion it is just plain boring. At the moment I drive a Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV Launch Edition in matt grey. For me it's perfect, because it is not boring, but also not screaming for attention. I don't like the discussion about "premium". There is no checklist, or rule to decide a car is premium. Therefore the whole discussion is pointless. For example, the new Giulia has a way better interior than this Cupra. But because in the E-segment there are better interiors, it is not mentioned as premium, while this car is. That makes absolutly no sense. The armrest is also not really a tight fix in my opinion. It shakes like Shakira! On the other end the 2.0TSI is a really nice engine. The power output is really good and it still got a lot of potential. To bad the K04 turbo is just a reliability disaster. So, mixed feeling about this car. The drivers part is ok. It's fast, but not really exciting. The interior and exterior are boring, but clean. It won;t be my successor, but I would not feel bad driving this car for some weeks.

The car is just over 2 years old with 24,000 miles and SEAT do not want to know and will not repair it under warranty and say it's 'normal' yet all the showroom cars seats and the passenger seat are solid and don't rock.
