I like this car and that blue. I just hope they add the matte wood finishes as an option to the centre console.

I have preferred the lower range in my PHEVs because batteries are so bad for the environment. It depends so much on your user profile: for me the 'lower' range was enough for the vast majority of my driving which makes it optimal in the point of view of the environment. Even if you need to start up the ICE engine for a while pretty often, that still doesn't usually tilt the environmental balance yet. Batteries just are bad things for the environment, the less the better.

This is a perfect compromise. In my daily life, 100km electric means that I never need fossil fuel. The 5-6 times a year I drive longer distances, then I have the combustion engine and don't have to stress finding recharging stations.

Do not forget that the engine should not become oil dry. the oil probably needs to be pumped around the engine at regular intervals. For a camshaft that gets dry is not good.

Very different cars in my eyes. If you want sporty drive and are not concerned with range, then the BMW. If you want a more practical allround car and do not want to micro plan longer trips, then the Mercedes Phev.

How do you service a plug in hybrid car ? I’m talking about the combustion engine? Is there two separate mileage counters one for ev and one for the combustion engine ? How is it done ?

It's one counter for both, and different producers give different warranty regarding mileage/time/battery life.

You can also drive it all electric on the motorway, I’m not sure about the threshold, but definitely faster than 100 km an hour

I would like to ask that between Mercedes C-Class and BMW 5 series which one has more beautiful HUD, which one displays more information and has a better view? I only saw the HUD on 5 series but I never had the chance to test a C-class with HUD.

Usable full electric range for a couple days worth of driving is the real solution. Still waiting on pricing but this looks like the car for me, if they manage it to keep it bellow 70k it'll be the car to get, and also with a diesel engine is a range monster.

According to a mercedes press release it would take 30 minutes for a full charge with fast (dc) charging and two hours with slow (ac) charging

What about the height of the vehicle? In the A and CLA clss PHEVs even the AMG line models were very high above the ground even wirh the Low package to "protect the batterys" this makes them look very ugly ... :( Does the C class have the lowering springs option? Or is it also very lifted

This car is quite desirable. I'm not too fond of the capacitive buttons and climate controls in the touchscreen. Also the trunk is too small as with most plugin hybrids. But other that that this car makes a lot of sense. It looks really good especially in this color and that EV range is fantastic. I could do almost all driving expect vacation trips on pure electric.

For me I could charge up over the weekend, drive to work, recharge for free, and drive home with enough range to get me back to the office the next day. Driving to work for the price of one recharge.

@@autogefuehl This is interesting. So it is NOT good for the engine to just run for few minutes, but I guess you are not expected to do that, as the electric range should solve your commute needs. So the question then is for sport mode, as more spirited driving will turn on the engine from time to time, or does it always run in sports mode? Would also be interesting how this is handled for the amg models.

How long did it take to charge after being empty? Only downside for switching to PHEV in most models so far is the 2-3h charging (or 6+ hours on normal home plug) which is way slower compared to full EV models (in terms of time to charge for range).

you got almost 97km but that is on a brand new car, wonder what it will be like after several cycles of charge and discharge, probably drop like a rock (re:iPhone after a year of use). Listening to the door close IMO it was not the most solid vault like sound, a great test of hose the door sounds is when the windows are rolled down, most cars sound awful especially frameless door

Good video , not sure about the car though. Plug in hybrids add complexity to the vehicle and makes them unnecessarily heavy and when you think about it if all your daily driving is under 100km (60miles) you can be better off with a full ev or if you drive often on long trips you might just have a normal hybrid like Toyota for example.

Liked the presentation, one of if not the best channel. I’m not sold on PHEV, you still have the drawbacks of internal combustion engines (noise, service), additional complexity, reduced trunk, weight. Tank is smaller so I don’t think you get that better range than pure petrol or pure EV.

Technically a person could fast charge this car every 100km, say on a 300km drive and not use the petrol motor. In reality this would be interesting. But there would be other ways to use this car i suppose.
