Just used the Autoglym polar range of products after watching your video and found them very good especially the polar seal, video was very informative thank you. I stuck to the amount of product to use as recommended by the manufacturer and still had some left so will adjust next time for the car (M235i).

This was a great demo of how to use Polar range, thank you for such a clear explanation. I am planning to use for the first time later this week when temperature cools down a bit. I have a couple of questions I wondered if you could help with. I have a Mercedes which has a manufacturing sealant on it so is it ok to use all 3 products? Also it is a convertible I assume I need to keep all 3 products off the cloth roof.
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jane. All of the products can be used over existing waxes, sealants or coatings so you shouldn't have any issues there. And yes, keep them off your cloth roof where possible and use a dedicated cleaner and protectant for it.

I just purchased the polar series as this seemed a much easier method to wash the car especially during winter. I was really impressed with the ease of use and the final result. I do feel it’s quicker if you have two snow foam lances. Just to note Autoglym recommend not to apply the polar seal directly onto the windows. In your video you do! Thank you for this review I have just bought a pressure washer and some polar wash, my car doesn’t get dirty enough I don’t think for polar blast first, so a good jet wash before I start should see me right. Re the Snow foam, just confirming, was it 500ml water to 100ml product? I tried this today with a hand held pump gun, but had to use 1 litre and 200ml, but the 'foam' was too runny. I think the pump I am using hasn't been designed specifically for this job!

Found your vids really well done and have now watched quite a few, just for my own info - I'm going to need to use some tar spot remover and i suspect quite a bit of it - when in the wash cycle is it best to use it? I though at first it would be best to use it before pre-wash so when I've applied the seal or wax product at the end of the cycle the tar remover application won't spoil the finish but now i'm not so sure. When or at what stage do you use the tar remover for spot treatment? thanks and sorry for the random question..
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran Жыл бұрын
No worries Allan, personally I'd use tar remover after the contact wash. If you've got an LSP (Last Step Protection) product on the car then the tar spot should come off quite easily but there's a risk that your tar remover will degrade that LSP. The good news is that LSP is fairly quick to apply in the form of spray sealants etc so you can always top up after a tar removal session.
@Quint1975
@Quint1975 Жыл бұрын
@@SpeckyMcSporran that's makes sense re the contact wash. I have no wax or seal on the vsr paint at the moment and I suppose I had it in mind that I'd be using a fair amount of chemicals in the tar remover and it would make sense to wash it off after lifting the tar spots. Thanks for the advice, I'll follow your guidance.

Good info in here dude. Good vid as always. Here are my thoughts on using the product for about 6 months now. I have tested 3 different cars with it over this period with the entire polar series. All cars are different ages and different manufacturers. Polar Blast : Decent product, easy to work with, goes on thick, comes off clean. I found I needed to use warm to hot water when mixing to up the cleaning power of this product. Cleans as well as most snow foams out there, but there are better that I have used. The negative of this was that the spend foam can linger for a while on the ground/driveway and takes a day or two to fully break down. Polar Wash : I liked the idea of using a one bucket wash method, or even a no bucket wash, and this was great for cold days/winter washes when you wanted a quick wash as the product just lingers on the paint without drying or running off the panel. It looked good and rinsed clean. It did a good job of cleaning the car, but ... I found in hot days that I "lost control" and had to get round the car quickly before the product dried, or go slower than a 2 bucket wash and do 1 panel at a time wash then rinse, which was a pain as changing the lance constantly slowed the wash process down. On hot days it was a lot slower than a 2 bucket wash. Polar Seal : This did apply a clear barrier that lasted a 3-5 weeks on application. I have tried to use this in different concentrations over the test period, but no matter what, this just didn't do anything for the cars I used this on. What I mean by that is the product just sat there on the panel. The panel looked duller as well with the product applied. There was no surface tension on the product and the water beading behavior was non existent It was more of a sheeter than anything. I wrote to AG to ask them what I could do to improve the performance in this regard, but this is really meant to be a topper for any other LSPs or waxes (which I found odd because its claimed that this is a sealant?). I did however, try AG rapid detailer on top of this product, but it only masked the characteristics for a short while (a week to a few days). Even when I tried SRP/EGP (after a complete strip down of the car) and this on top it still it masked the waxes hydrophobic characteristics or the EGP. I did read the instructions carefully, and watched the Yts on AG channel on how to apply this stuff, but for me, this was a fail :( Final thoughts, I would use the blast and wash again, but not the seal. Maybe I got a bad bottle of Polar Seal, but I wouldn't buy again, given that there are way better spray and rinse type products out there, that offer more desirable characteristics at the same price point and durability. Like Meatloaf says "2 outta 3 aint bad" :)
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 4 жыл бұрын
That's quite a review! I totally agree about blast, it's nice and thick but it does longer on the ground like most thick snowfoams. I would use wash on one half of the car so it doesn't dry out but it can extend the wash time a little. My experience with seal was different as you saw in the video and I've used it a few times since with the same good result. That makes me think you've got a bad batch for sure. There are many good alternatives as far as spray-on, rinse-off sealants as you say. Hopefully you find something you'll like. 👍

Hi, very helpful video which I’ve watched a few times now. I’ve tried the Polar series only twice. My question is, are you supposed to dry the car off before using the polar seal? The polar wash bottle says dry after the wash and rinse, but you appeared to apply the seal to a damp car? What would give better results. Does it matter? Thanks
@SpeckyMcSporran

You can use it wet or dry as it's a wet application product. Just make sure you dry after applying and rinsing polar seal so you don't get any water spots.

@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 4 жыл бұрын
I used warm water in the lance but I've used cold water too and didn't notice a difference. I assume you mean Aqua Wax? If so then I'm sure you can but the wax will behave differently to the polar seal. If you re-apply polar seal after every other wash then you'll be topping up the protection so no need for the Aqua Wax, just dry the car after. Hope that helps.

Hi Specky. Great video, I have been using this full system for a little while now on my car and have found it does a great job. One tip I would use is to purchase three snow foam bottles, they do not cost much from amazon, then you can have all products already mixed and ready to use. I found it a pain to keep rising out the one bottle and pouring the left over mix in a separate container. Cheers

I like it, including the fact that each bottle will be emptied at the same time. Very convenient. Could you do it all without any contact with the mitt? I mean could you just spray on Polar Blast, let dwell, then rinse. Then spray on Polar Wash, let it dwell, then rinse. And finally spray on Polar Sealant, let it dwell, then rinse and blow dry. No contact at all which of course means NO chance for scratching. I like it!
@SpeckyMcSporran

Technically you could but the car wouldn't be properly clean. We don't yet have a 100% effective touchless wash product so unfortunately you'll still have to touch the paint. Follow a safe wash with a mitt and rinse bucket and you'll do well to keep the damage to a minimum.

Great explanatory review. The only problem I have with it is that must have been the cleanest car I've ever seen that's been used for a car wash review. I would have liked to seen a properly dirty car; like when you spend all week driving up and down the M6 then have to clean it when it's filthy at the weekend, especially if the roads have been wet. I know the colour of the car doesn't show the dirt so much as darker colours might, but the wheels looked like new before you even started cleaning them.
@SpeckyMcSporran

The car was dirtier than it looked but silver hides a multitude of sins. I might revisit the range again in the future.
@severnsea3924
@severnsea3924 2 жыл бұрын
@@SpeckyMcSporran Yes that's fair comment. My problem is when you're watching to find out if a product is any good, many of these videos only feature cars with about a day's worth of dirt on them. I guess most detailers don't let their cars get that dirty - it wouldn't be a very good advertisement - but it's not a real world situation.
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 2 жыл бұрын
Every car I've owned since then has been darker so it shows dirt and difference better. Also summer driving doesn't leave much dirt on the car so it's harder to demonstrate and you have to trust that the reviewer is being truthful. I will say that I was genuinely impressed with the Polar range as far as user friendliness and performance is concerned. I'm happy to recommend them. I appreciate your comments.

Great review thank you 😊 one question, should I use plastic bumper restorer before spraying on the seal coat or can I use it afterwards please, oh and tyre shine should that go on before or after? Thank you 😊
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Patrick. Ideally a plastic dressing/restorer should be used first to ensure a good bond. I'm not sure how much impact the sealant would have on tyres but if you want to get the best out of the tyre shine I'd try to keep it off the tyres so your dressing sticks better to clean rubber.

Hi mate great video, at which point in this process would you use auto Glyn intensive tar remover as my car has a lot of tar spots on the lower half, would it best to use after the snowfoam? Cheers Chris
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 3 жыл бұрын
Use it after the snowfoam and wash, get the car as clean as possible before you attack the tar. Might be a good idea to use an iron fallout remover at the same time. Then use polar seal to protect the paint.

I've noticed in a lot of your videos you have a Nilfisk Pressure washer. Having owned 2 got pretty pissed off with Karcher as they forever break and cost a fortune to fix. I have just bought a Nilfisk on Amazon, and was wondering how you have found the operation and reliability with yours.
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't had a single problem with my Nilfisk. I heard others complaining about Karcher reliability (I think someone said they use plastic pumps but Nilfisk use metal pumps) so I went with Nilfisk as there were less complaints about them. However, Karcher are a massive company and probably outsell Nilfisk 2 - 1 so you're always likely to hear more about them. I know some people who swear by Karcher but I'm very happy with my little Nilfisk for now.

@@SpeckyMcSporran Your right I've had my Karchers open it's all plastic, and pretty straightforward to self repair, they just screw you on spares prices. I think Nilfisk are doing well and Karcher should bear this in mind. I really enjoy your reviews, keep up the good work. Side note, have you ever tried or done a Rain X review?

could you use the super resin polish after this system? or is it not required?
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran Жыл бұрын
Ideally you should polish paint BEFORE coating. Super resin polish will leave a wax and resin fillers that the coating would bond to but are themselves non permanent. You'd be better to polish with a pure abrasive then wipe down before coating.

@@SpeckyMcSporran so you'd wash it and polish before? I guess if that's the case it wouldn't be worth it with this system. Is there anything recommended to use post washing or is the 3 stage system all you need?
