Autoglym v Meguiars v Turtle Wax v Triplewax - Battle of the High Street
In this video, we put 4 of the most popualr car polishes found on the high street, through their paces. From Autoglym we have their famous Super Resin Polish. From Meguiars it's their 3 in 1 wax. Turtle Wax have supplied their Renew Polish, and from Triplewax we have a product simply called Car Polish. Which will win?

Thanks for a great vid.. I have been "washing" cars since I was knee high to a grasshopper.. but only recently after buying a new car got into detailing.. I have watched tons of KZbin vids on detailing but only subscribed to a few.. I have found all of your videos very informative and helpful.. This video was particularly interesting because buying a wax I've always gone for Turtle wax but after watching this vid I will now be buying Meguiars 3 in 1.. It seems like I am becoming a big Meguiars fan has I've bought and love their Ultimate All wheel cleaner and also their detailing spray.. So yes.. Maguire's 3 in 1 Wax for me.. Thanks again Mat.

I still use SRP as a base coat for the UHD wax. It's a white car but it does help to make it blindingly white. I "fondly" remember over applying SRP to my first car in the baking sun. That car was black, and riddled with swirls. It did make the black pop though as well as giving me forearms as big as Hulk Hogans when came to buffing it off

Hi Matt, good video with an interesting approach, thankyou and well done. Out of the four products you tested, it's got to be Auto Glym's SRP based on value and overall performance. As you say it needs something on top but that can add some gloss. I wouldn't always choose Auto Glym for other types of product though. Next up, a similar video or tyre dressings? Stay safe.

It’s been about 4 years since I hand polished, but it of the ones featured I’d go with the meguairs. For me I used to use sap, but was always cashing my tail on the dust. The less dust and not needing to wax after just clinches it for me, as well as the buff off. The new abrasives from Tw and Megs would be better for hand polishing swirls out, with a 50 quid Argos polisher would be better imho

Brought back to this video as Ive just seen triplewax in asda for £3! I really enjoy the triplewax. It's not dissimilar to autoglym SRP in my experience, fills well and perfectly reasonable to apply and remove. Like most products, if you use it like you would an expensive product, it will perform like one. Madness to think that for that price you'd buy 3 bottles for the price of 1 SRP, and probably about 10 for one bottle of the Megs. When you factor that in, surely it must be the winner overall as it performs similarly to the others but is so much less expensive!

If I needed to give a car a quick polish by hand it would have to be Meguires as it offers cleaning and protection. If I wanted to get rid of swirls and defects I would want to use a DA and a compound followed by refining with a polish and then protection with wax or coating But the need to sometimes do a quick job means you have to try something like 3 in 1

Autoglym SRP for me; has been my go to for years. No t-cut for comparison? That would have been interesting to see for the wire wool test. I used autoglym super resin polish found it easy to apply but didn’t think it improved the paint much, I applied the extra gloss after and that brought it up a bit more and the beading was sensational but it was a ball ache to take off! I used auto finesse tripple and I’d say the was better overall weighing up the results vs the effort to take on and off (not lazy 😂)

I have used AG for years, never had the cap fail (that means the bottle in the garage will now break), the AG SRP and some wax afterwards is less than the price of the Meguiars 3in1 other than only going over the car once are there any other benefits of getting Meguiars over Autoglym?

I have a 16 plate Ranger Wildtrak in metallic black ,my wife has a shadow black Focus and my daughter has a metallic black Fiesta so you can imagine what it's like for myself to keep them looking lush as all 3 do ,I tryed a few different brands but hand on heart I find Autoglym works the best for me ,not had to use polish as the paint work on them are great but they do look dirtier faster,I only use snow foam then jet wash followed by a blast with shampoo and a 5 mit contact wash method and then a aqua wax treatment ,the only bucket I use is to put all my dirty mitts and cloths in ready to pop them in the washing machine, takes up to 4 hours per vehicle inside and out, but when all the neighbours heads turn you know it's worth owning a black vehicle and worth the hard work 🤙

nice test but i would use the meguiars ultimate polish instead of the 3in 1 wax, i think it’s something more available at high street shops and also more similar to the other polishes in the test, and also use the same applicator, no problem for me but i’m sure someone will be mentioning it.
@TheDetailingSpace

Thanks.... I almost did use the same applicator, but the reason I didn't is because realistically, if you bought that kit, that's the applicator you'd use.

Let me just get something straight... 😌 Is the Turtle Wax Renew more of a compound than a polish? And doesn't the Autoglym SRP add some shortterm protection or just fillers and silicone?
@TheDetailingSpace
@TheDetailingSpace 4 жыл бұрын
It would appear that the TW does have a touch of compound, and yes, the SRP may have some protection.... That was the point of this test, see how they differ. They are all sold as similar hand polishes

I’d personally go for the AutoGlym as it’s way cheaper than the meguiars and a lot closer to the so called budget ones, as swirls is terrible on black cars would be perfect for my Black Polo GTI and the beading/sheeting was spot on close enough to the meguiars which is a wax anyway. And with the price difference between this and the meguiars you could pick yourself up a decent wax for protection that would be more than just the 3in1 wax by itself.... so AutoGlym wins for me. Meguiars still very good though

Hello. I would choose the Turtle Wax for the defect removal, followed by the Autoglym SRP for gloss and protection or the Meg's, if I wanted to pay double. Although I doubt if I'll ever do a hand polish again. Machine is much more effective. Oh btw: Keep the clothes, just send me the Meg's polish to try out. 😋
