I just used Gold Class Carnauba Plus for the first time on my two cars (BMW Arctic White and BMW Black Sapphire, both in great condition) and I found that it was the best wax I have ever used, and I have used many different types over the years. Easy to apply, decently easy to remove and the depth and gloss of both paints after waxing was fantastic. The cars looked new.

I like the different criteria you include in your comparison tests. It’s very helpful to hear your comments on appearance, color saturation, slickness and ease of application. Some other channels seem to judge a product mainly on chemical resistance. Car owners that enjoy waxes and sealants usually are chasing the product that makes their paint look so good that you just can’t take your eyes off it.

The original "cleaner wax" from Meguiars is still one of the best on the market I have had many car show winners with it over the years, it last about 6 weeks not very long for todays standards but it is very easy to apply and remove, it also looks good....
@sonyviva3083 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it was more of a polisher than waxing. It doesn't last long at all if you let your car on the hot sun like I do. I think it would be better to apply a standalone wax afterwards. :)

Back in the late 90's I often used Meguiar's M20 Polymer Sealant (now discontinued) before winter, and it ALWAYS made it through. When spring arrived, I'd remove the M20 and apply M26. I could still get by with just those products today.

I have been using NXT for years, I always thought it was very easy to apply and to buff off. I also liked how it lifted the shine of even a very shiny paint, and how long it lasted wash after wash. The very first thing that I liked about it though is that I didn't have to be careful to avoid getting it on plastic or rubber trim.

Honestly thought it was discontinued.

I used the Ultimate polish , then Ultimate wax and was very impressed on all fronts . I've since used the Hybrid Ceramic Wax as it's supposed to last longer . It felt strange spraying it on a wet car and rubbing it in for the first coat , but it does appear to give a great shine .

I use NXT for one main reason. It hold both its hydrophobic & protective properties (UV, bird droppings, etc) longer than the traditional waxes. Especially on the roof, trunk & hood. Also, my preference is to first apply Meguiars polish, buff off to get a nice, clean paint shine, then apply Meguiars NTX polymer sealant. Lasts 6 - 8 months. If I have time, I will use a quality wax (after the NXT) on my roof & bonnet, just for the extra protection.

Great video. Even though Meguiar's puts Wax in the name Ultimate Wax, it is actually a sealant. The wax term is meant for the average joe here in the states. Also it is interesting to hear you say that NXT is glossier because Meguiar's touts Ultimate Wax to be glossier as it has newer polymers. Your video also shows exactly how NXT is designed to sheet more than bead compared to ultimate wax. Both good sealants and both nice to work with. Ultimate Wax has always been one of my favorite off the shelf sealants . Again great video.

So technically you should wax after using ‘ultimate wax’ for maximum protection?!! Given the cost of it at double the price of their other waxes and sealants, I’d expect it to have some wax in it, like a 2 in 1 product. They say you can wax after using the nxt sealant for the ultimate protection but I don’t see this mentioned anywhere for their ‘ultimate wax’, seems odd 🤷♀️

FINALLY, Meguiar's has come out with a ceramic wax. I have lived in Las Vegas since 2004 and found right away that Carnuba wax is NOT good for very hot temperatures. I smears easily no matter how well it has been buffed. So Use only synthetic wax and detailer.
@jdisdetermined4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, natural carnauba wax can take a real beating from lots of hot direct sun.. a montan based wax fares a lot better in that type of climate if you want to stick to natural wax. From a purely durability and protection based standpoint, synthetics are vastly superior. A graphene based product is absolutely ideal for that climate, hopefully the ease of availability will expand quickly. What do you use out there in Vegas, something like Fusso I'd guess? Lived there for 8 years, hated every second of it, but somehow I still miss it once in awhile, which makes no sense.. 🤔😁👍

The Ultimate is in light favor to me, maybe because I have a dark colour paint, but as said they both do please me. I also have the NXT tech wax spray version, this is very good to apply as a "service" layer. I also reccomend to first clean your paint with the Clay bar and quick detailler and then apply your wax to give it the full potential and to maximize the smooth feel and showroom shine.

Great presentation. 15:00 - I use Ultimate on my daily driver. Has gone through a season of snow and harsh automated washes. By far, it is the most durable while maintaining a shine when it comes time to reapply in the spring. Ultimate is my go-to from now on, it is a long lasting brute that shines pretty. Though I do agree, NXT (which I have used) gives the best gloss that is car show ready, but not so durable for the long-run. If I were to enter a car for show, I would run to NXT. Another car forum I frequent, owners did a wax compare on some high end exotics. NXT took the trophy for best gloss and shine over one of the Zymol products.

I’ve always been a big fan of the ultimate wax, I’ve used it on a number of cars and been very pleased with the results. There is one exception, I now own a black car, and whilst ultimate wax still looks good, good class gives a nice warm glow to it which looks amazing. It doesn’t last as long as ultimate, but as I enjoy waxing my car this isn’t an issue.

I can see where you're coming from. Last Christmas I ended up getting some wax (Ultimate and Gold). I use Collinite on my own car, I love the stuff, but it has been fun to experiment with these products on my wife's car (it's a dark burgundy color). It looked really nice after I applied Gold Class to it today - I was pleasantly surprised! I had previously experimented with Ultimate on her car, and I prefer the Gold Class look on this darker paint as well.
@eppyz4 жыл бұрын
Well I appreciate you putting up this video because most people that do things themselves use these type of products...now from a professional detailers point of view you may appreciate the ceramic coatings better but from the people that have to pay someone like you to do that type of work it's very expensive and most people can't afford that. additionally I had my car ceramic-coated as well as my wife's truck and was very disappointed in its performance versus the cost. I feel that if you use common sense washing methods and apply a halfway decent wax every few months you're finish is going to be fine regardless... it's those people that want perfection go seek out professional detailers...but that is such a small percentage of people.... though I do feel that ceramic coatings are nice and they're the new fad right now I do feel that they are over marketed over hyped and it give a false sense of security on your finish. Anyway just my thoughts 😎

Sandro, the nxt was megs 1st ever fully synthetic 'wax', they worked on it few years later to produce the ultimate. They both don't have any natural carnuba in it. So technically nxt is a father of ultimate wax. :) Forgot to mention that one change megs did in the ultimate vs nxt is to increase longevity at the expense of look and finish.
@downundergarage69684 жыл бұрын
@No Name the longevity would depend on how much exposures you get. I'm in Brisbane Australia so similar to southern California. My cars are daily driven but parked in garage at night and under shade during the day. They are washed every 3 weeks.. so for me next does 2 washers before drop off and I top it up after a 3rd or applay something else because I like to play with it. Ultimate is another car wash cycle further. If you have a light coloured car and want something that you can visibly see on car after the rain go for soft 99 fuso. On dark cars it's very tricky to get the application right and if not you will notice faint streaks ( drove me mad on one of my cars for 2 month's). Lol

I’m still confused why Megs chose to name a product ‘Ultimate Wax’ that contains no actual wax and is actually technically then a fully synthetic sealant. I’ve seen/heard it mentioned (by Megs) that for the ultimate protection/longevity after using a sealant such as their NXT product, a wax can be applied over the top to extend the life of the applied product yet haven’t seen or heard that anywhere re: their ultimate “wax”. I do like Megs products but this kind of seems misleading, and the cost of the ‘ultimate wax’ (that’s not a wax lol), is daylight robbery!

BUT... there comes a point where the costs involved get way out of line with the benefits from those higher end products, but the same can be said about anything. As far as ease of application / removal, for me, no amount of difficulty is worth any increased performance. Anything that is a pain gets tossed or given away. There is a reason Gloss Coat is the only ceramic coating I'll use, amd that is ease of application. Performance is great too, so long as chemical tests aren't done before the full 30 day cure time. After seven days it can be washed, but the internals don't set up for another 22 days.

Carnauba wax is great for a nice shine but unless your car is garaged all the time and rarely exposed to the elements, the wax does not much to protect the car's clear coat.. Synthetic waxes give the best and longest lasting protection.

With the NXT sealant, I’m wondering if it should, or would do better in terms of water repelling if a wax was applied over the top. Maybe I missed it but the costs of the products can also be an effective method of which to choose given the RRP on the Ultimate wax is $88AU v’s say the Gold Class range at $47AU. The deep crystal can be slightly yellowing on white cars with aged paint, nor does it last the cut in terms of water repelling so I wouldn’t even go there and explains why it’s the cheapest of the four products here. Surprised to learn the nxt sealant is a cheap $44AU. I’d give it a go had they scented it because I’m a girl and I prefer it smelled nice 😂 But my point being, I really cannot see the justification in such a high price for the ultimate wax, it’s literally almost double the gold class line and more than double on the deep crystal 🤨

Is the NXT Polymer Paint Sealant just NXT Tech Wax 2.0 under a different name for a different market? i can only seem to find the Polymer Paint Sealant on the Australian site. Technically Tech Wax 2.0 isn't a wax as it is synthetic so it would make sense, are Australia trying to enforce an industry standard for car detailing products because that would be a smart move and help the consumer a lot as it can be a bit of a headache looking for the right product.

I can understand this method but I think you should use a slightly larger area, and maybe use a hand held micro glass might be of help

No mention of white film on plastics and rubber. This is most important to me. That whitish to tan build up in crevasses and on plastic or rubber absolutely ruins the appearance of the vehicle, no matter how shiny the paint is. In my experience, Meguiars Ultimate wax leaves none of this residue and is hard to beat. However, I would love to know how the other products perform in this aspect of white residue buildup. Otherwise, excellent review. 👍👍

I’ve found that most newer hybrid waxes or sealants don’t tend to stain plastic trims with residue but it can be quite an individual product thing with exceptions where as most tradition waxes and sealants do tend stain trims but again that not always the case- and I agree it’s an important factor that I should have touched on.

Gold glass or even deep crystal if you have a black car, just brings the shine out with deep looking black, but if the paint has defects or swirls use nxt, also any of these products work way better if buffed on with rotary or dual action machine

As I respect your experience and videos, I have to strongly disagree with your opinion about the ultimate liquid wax... I absolutely love this stuff. I prefer to use a d.a polishing machine with this ultimate liquid wax which always gives a deep wet look which just looks so amazing. This liquid wax it's so slick that my detailing towel just slides off it's so slippery slick
