I bought the yakima almost 2 months ago and i am super happy with it. A lot of room and fairly easy to open and close. I have a mitsubishi asx which it is mounted on. I am very happy with my choice 😊

Thanks for describing the two tents. We’re just starting our research, and this will definitely help. I like that you explained the advantages and disadvantages of each.

I love my Autohome but miss the skylights from the Yakima. Can’t go wrong with either 👍🏻👍🏻

Would love to see a showcase of some offroad camper trailers like the smittybilt scout.

Thanks for the video. I am taking a serious look at the Autohome Columbus Variant tent. I love that set up and take down is very fast. Plus it is a reputable manufacturer and by all accounts seems to be a quality product. I have a Ford F150 with a 6.5 foot bed and it seems like a nice set up to have it mounted on a rack over the bed like you have in the video. I checked out the Yakima Outpost but it would set the tent a little too high to get the truck in and out of my garage so I am thinking of going with a lower set Front Runner rack. It seems to me that it would be very easy to use the open tailgate to enter and exit the big door on the back of the tent. Plus, my F150 has nifty steps built into the tailgate making it easy to climb onto the tailgate, then enter the big door on the tent. Would you agree or am I missing a detail that would prevent that? I am thinking I can skip using the ladder all together.

Good choice! This is my truck in the video and I'm loving my Columbus, perfect setup for my truck. My two complaints are the light that comes with it is basically useless, it constantly falls out or turns itself on and is dead and the ladder. I made my own ladder using an ikamper telescoping ladder and some custom brackets. I get into my tent just as you said, using the tailgate so it makes it so my gf can get in through the ladder, and me through the truck bed so we have separate entrances.

@@RJ-mq9th Do you know the length of your truck bed? The Columbus looks perfect on your truck,

I would like to know if there’s any way to level either tent other than to level the vehicle itself
@nolimitbaltimore Жыл бұрын
You can get leveling blocks from any RV Store. You can put them underneath your wheels and park your vehicle - leveling your tent and vehicle.
