I don't think this is real AI technology. The work flow in this resturant doesn't use any training model to improve these robot's skils. They just do the same things repeatedly. You can only call it as an automated restaurant like a factory but without the AI factor. Ideally, from my perspective, an AI restaurant can not only run these work flows automatically, but also improve their skills and solve new problems in the future. For example, a counter robot can handle drive through orders very well even if it couldn't at first.

In California it effects only restaurants with I believe over 60 locations, independent , small chains, and restaurants will not be effected. Do you think wages are just going to stay the same while companies ramp there prices up every year who are people suppose pay for stuff on a minimum wage set in 2012 when prices continue to increase inflate going into 2025? Think about I know it’s hard for people who have money to think about the rest of the world fighting to survive but life isn’t just about making money people have completely lost their moral values and evil corporations and media are at the root of it and shame on our government for back them and allowing this. Yes the robots themselves are not new, it's the computer that is running them. Things happen in the kitchen that can change or vary the cooking experience. The idea is that instead of having a program that just computes an "assembly" of peoples orders, it's an intelligent computer that can handle sudden changes. Sometimes the deep fryer get's a little hotter after it sits for a few minutes unused, the next batch of fries to go in will cook a little quicker. If a piece of cooking equipment malfunctions or stops working suddenly (however unlikely), the AI can compensate for that by reorganizing the food production. Or sometimes you have that customer that insists on completely customizing their order (like extra crispy fries or no salt on the patty), the AI can handle that too, and it remembers you, your order, and when you place the order...for the next time you come in. Which is pretty creepy.
@thunder6742
@thunder6742 4 ай бұрын
@@AlextheHistorian Software engineer here and I don't see a drop of AI anywhere in this chain. All the robots run on precise code that doesn't change. Even your example of the oil being hotter is solved by a simple thermostat and code that determines how long to cook based on the temperature (not AI, btw). The facial recognition would be the only "AI" thing and that tech has been around for a long time now. The memory of what you ordered isn't AI either, that's just regular software. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any true AI here.

The key difference between machines used until now and new ones based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is in their ability to learn, adapt, and respond to various situations. Previously, most robots in factories were programmed for specific tasks with limited ability to handle changes or unforeseen circumstances. AI-based machines, such as those in a restaurant making hamburgers and fries, can learn and adapt to different scenarios. They process data, recognize patterns, and perform more complex tasks efficiently, considering various variables. For example, an AI machine can tailor hamburger preparation to specific customer preferences or handle anomalies during cooking. Additionally, AI-based machines can improve over time through continuous learning, making them more efficient and adaptable to changing needs.

That's not how facial recognition works. I mean hell, if you use any device that has a camera on it, it has the ability to scan your face already. Add in every electronic device you signed up to use where the contract literally states you give up your right to privacy and give companies the right to track you, and you're willingly handing all that over. The thing is, it's not to "take away freedom", it's all so they can better sell you stuff that they subconsciously implanted into you through marketing strategies and utilizing your search history to better sell you stuff. They don't want you locked up, because it means less money in their pockets.

Can't really be called fully automated when humans are still doing the "finishing touches". Well, this was inevitable.

Better have backups to every software and hardware related item. One piece goes down and the entire operation grinds to a halt...

Westlake in Daily City had a restaurant that had an AI making burgers. They got closed after a couple months because it wasn’t really getting customers after the novelty wore off

4k to LEASE a flippy fry arm a MONTH. 10k to install. an employee getting paid $20hr who works 40hrs comes out to $3200. Plus, that employee can help in other areas of the restaurant as needed. He isn't stuck making fries. People, also this company Miso robotics, pleaee do your research. Overall this is media sensationalism for advertising dollars. This isn't news. Its an ad for miso robotics and ad revenue for the media outlet.
