The hardware is always more impressive, software is just a set of instructions that can't exist without the hardware
@aleksandersuur94753 жыл бұрын
The hardware definitely, the software behind it is almost universally a steaming pile of fecal matter, it's almost enforced by available toolchains and development environments. The root of the evil is that everything is proprietary to a piece of hardware you buy. If you buy a robot, it'll come with it's own proprietary programming language nobody else in the world uses and of course the entire toolchain is proprietary too. It's a curse of small closed ecosystems, there are so many carpets to hide some shit under and all of them are used to maximum capacity. It doesn't help that a hardware company is unlikely to be also good at software and vice versa, yet all vendors insist on trying to do both.

@ProtoG426 жыл бұрын
@@SwarthySkinnedOne I think there is room for both. I manage a sheet metal manufacturing facility in Florida and I do not see these machines competing with us for quite a while. I can make 100 parts or enclosures that I've never made before much faster compared to the time it takes to set up and program something like this. Even with a somewhat complex enclosure, I can go from a drawing to a finished part in an hour from getting the model. A local job shop will be much cheaper and faster most of the time for a run of 100-200 parts compared to a much larger automated facility. A large automated plant will not want to run prototypes or small runs for you without a contract for thousands of parts.
@SwarthySkinnedOne6 жыл бұрын
Proto G Engineering I'm not so sure about that. Seems the only folks fairly immune to automations replacements are folks like you - Management, Executives, IT pros, and maintenance folks - the guys needed to stick around to make sure some mechamakeitnoid don't crash or bite the dust from some data hickup......and WD-40 heartburn:) ha ha. The systems are rather fascinating I have to admit shown in this vid and similar ones, however the intimidation of it all kind of makes me feel I should have in college taken up industrial one-arm robo laborers and production mechanisms...instead of the teachers time. Pah ha ha:) But for folks like us with limited career talents.... Geez I just don't know man. I've a whisper of an unsettling hunch telling me it's gonna be increasingly slim pickings for us keep body and soul together as time marches on. I mean as they are these machines, in my book, are slick and sophisticated enough, and Goddamn!! no telling how much more super dynamic they'll become 10 years from now, what with systems and cybernetics evolution knowing no end. It's like some of us laborers will have to pack up and move to a different planet, like see if the Martians are hiring, pah ha ha ha:) Well, nice speaking with you pal.

@ProtoG426 жыл бұрын
There was no real welding in any of these clips. Just going through the motions. They did have some robots welding behind welding curtains but it doesn't make for good video. There was some unshielded plasma cutting going on that I thought was a little unsafe but I didn't see any unprotected welding.
@ChrisTrunek5 жыл бұрын
ahh came to comments because the motions just seemed insanely fast, like they would break the fixtures or shake like crazy. I didnt realize some were sped up. Made me think they needed tails, or some type of equally articulated counterweight that could be controlled to help prevent vibration artifacts in the movements.
