Automated PACCAR Endurant 12 speed (Eaton Ultra-Shift)

A short few mile run to show how the PACCAR 12 speed "automatic" (automated) transmission shifts and operates in a new 2020 Peterbilt 579 Ultra-Loft. This gives a good comparison vs. the Allison automatic with a torque converter.

I have a 2017 579 with a 10 speed Paccar 455 I like the auto but It's not smooth like that truck. It's hard to back up when hooking up or to loading doors It wants to lurch and bang into whatever. Is there anything I can do?

It sounds like the transmission needs a software update. Have them make sure they program in "URGE TO MOVE". Then when you let off the brake it starts to move like a normal automatic (like in a car or pickup). That should help solve the problem.

You can.....but....the 4500 Allison would not be a good OTR transmission. It's expensive and won't get the fuel mileage an Ultra-Shift would get. So I guess the correct answer is "yes you can" but "You probably won't like it".

It's simply an option. I think it can be turned off as well, but not by the driver.

Can you explain it little bit more? I know paccar uses ZF automated transmission in Europe, I hope they pitting ZF transmission in new Kenworth and Peterbuilt

It is not ultra-shift. It is Endurant.

I wouldn't wanna drive a manual Paccar. It's hard to shift after being used to a Cummins .I don't know why the rpm goes up and down so fast lol

With so many variety you may very well have an autoshift rather than an endurant... the new stuff is really nice.. & ive always had 18 manuals.. Will absolutely be ordering an endurant 12spd in my next ride
