Steve- (Greatest Salesman ever)... Purchased mine about 6 months ago from you, zero issues. My local Cummins dealer is providing routine maintenance/service, and with the exception of a little fuel mileage loss after the first software update, I am completely satisfied. Pulling flats in the mountains of Kentucky and West Virginia, our’s gets a real work out, but with the 2050 torque we handle the grades with stride, while delivering a solid 6 MPG. Yeah, we sacrifice a little mileage running a big hood 389, but looks and appearance are quite important to us, as our family has always had long hoods since the 90’s. Such praise coming from a Caterpillar lifer, should speak volumes. Keep up the good work!

2050 torque has it's advantages but it will grind your rears all to pieces if you get stuck somewhere and start spinning your wheels to try to regain traction and free yourself... So a lot of, especially heavy haul, operations turn their 2050s back to about 1900 for driveline component safety.

😍I bought an extremely well maintained 2013 Freightliner fleet truck that has a 450 hp Cummins ISX under the hood and I initially had about a $45,000.00 maintenance nightmare with that engine until I took it to The Cummins Gold Store in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and had it worked on properly and had The DPF Filter and DOC Cannister replaced on it at about 650,000 miles, since then this baby has run like an absolute beast and I have had absolutely zero engine related problems all of the way up to my present 850,500+ miles and still hammering at 1,600 rpms all day long!😍

In the past one year Oct '19 and Oct '20 I've run two X15 engines and while I like them a lot and have had no issues with them, I don't understand the banging / slapping / clanging noises these engines make especially when you get into the throttle, the louder they get. While the engines sound like they are about to spill their guts all over the highway, after a while I've learned to ignore the noise and run. I've never heard a H-D diesel make that sound before and I wish Cummins would at least educate us as to what the noise is and what effect it has on the engine if any. The noise emanates from the drivers side of engine and sounds exactly like steel smacking steel. At 125k miles, it starts hard and slow and shutdown occurs in less than 2-seconds flat which is kind of frightening but again, just ignore it and go about business. It's a great running engine, just has a few quirks that take some getting used to. All the X15 engines do it, just don't understand it.

On all machinery failure rates are usually highest when they are new or super old, but rarely in the middle. Infant and senior mortality so to speak. If these make it 300k, I'd say they are well past early failure. Early failure is usually very quick. Senior failure with these you'll need to wait 10-15 years I am guessing. That's when plastics and shit will start breaking down from exposure to their environment. Electronics may get wonky by that time.

We run intermountain & northwest year around, and gelling is frequent when transitioning from south to northern fuel supplied depots. We always carry 2 filters for everything. Currently have 542k on a 3 year old truck. Replaced the transmission harness in Tucson, clutch replacement in Cheyenne, windshield fluid tank in Missoula for a stuck float, and 2 DEF pump replacements (Mobile/ West Memphis). We've had more shop time on the Pete than a Volvo, Freightliner, and International combined for a 3 year old truck.

Look at those today, for the most part. NO issues on gas engines now. Everyone rushed the Diesel design in way early. Or waited late in the game to start testing. I was told that was normal as they do a run at the factor to adjust once assembly is done. It does not do all the time, or at least it's not as bad.
