I'm excited about the Aqara lightstrip because it's not wifi, yet very capable. And did you know that so far, you're the only youtuber that cares what its capabilities are with anything but Homekit?! Thanks! Some of us aren't Apple fanboys.

@@AutomateYourLife Hey, Brian. Although I ordered this with extensions, I realized these are very pricey lights by the time you add everything up and need to cover a typical kitchen cabinet area, maybe even top and bottom. Yikes. Also, Aqara is limiting customers to 5 extensions so many projects could get stalled waiting for pieces. I like Aqara products, but seems like there's a bit of creative marketing going on here.

I thought it was pretty close on cost vs most of the industry, but...the lack of the mounting hardware could be an extra hidden expense with this one. That's the one thing I noticed was missing when I opened these up.

Hey Brian, just wanted to mention an addition that you can add to your friend 🙋or foe 🧟 (aka facial recognition) doorbell automation. You can use an Aqara door/ window sensor to turn off (reset) the automation once the door is opened. As always, thanks for the great videos!
@AutomateYourLife Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's just a great idea Scott! Thank you so much. I'll pass it along.

I enjoyed the quality of this video. Putting the Automation conditions in a graphic is genuis . I still use z wave for my door locks. Low data need , great range As my videos get more advanced I'd like to use this idea. Aquara is such a next level company. I NEED to buy and test one of their products. Right now I need a doorbell to be smartthings alexa ,google AND homekit compatible . Aquara seems like it would do the job!

Brian, as wscottfunk commented, this sounds like what we were talking about. basically, a Zigbee light that can be strobed if a sensor sees movement, door/window is open. I just ordered my strip to go around the window next to my front door. I like the idea of motion triggered before someone can open the front door as a deterrent. No siren as to not disturb neighbors in her situation but letting them know before they gain entry that an alarm has been triggered. I think this could be incorporated into your friend's system to let that scumbag staking her know not to try anything.

Ohhhh that's a really good idea too! Thank youf or that. I'll pass that along!

Sure! Aqara has a Vibration sensor that should work with that. Then just say it stopped vibrating for 2 minutes and use the Aqara app. :)

Have you heard if the nest max hub, gen 1 hello doorbell or gen 1 nest cameras are coming to the Google home app? I know you can see the live feed but I'm referring to being able to review your camera 24/7 footage. The Google / Nest fragmentation is so aggravating
@AutomateYourLife Жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of any changes to the way it works now. But the Nest Hub Max should be there to review footage, no? I think mine shows...but I haven't had it plugged in for a bit.
@GoldMineArcade Жыл бұрын
@@AutomateYourLife the max hub, gen1 doorbell and gen1 cameras all only show live footage. You can't look at none of your history on the Google home app. I'm hoping they add that ability

Using the known face for automations for kids might seem nice until you realize that their friends might come over every once and a while or some other family member who doesn't visit that often. Asking them to "Scan" their face into the bell would be kind of awkward.
