Acutelly, 5V batteries or chargers are more suitable for this project. But it will work fine with 9V battery, I used 9V batteries here because it's easily available everywhere.

I think it's TIP42C, if so you can use it. But you have to modify the circuit according to the pins of TIP42C.

The difference between both circuit is that in BD140 pins are in the order emitter collector base and in TIP42C it's in the reverse order.

The transistor is used as a switch. When you show your hand the IR sensor send a 0V at the base of the transistor then the transistor will conduct and the switch is turned On and your pump will work.

You will need a different circuit. You can add a voltage regulator like LM7805 to supply 5V to Sensor and another transistor like TIP32C to switch the higher power for the solinoid. Better use 12V solinoid.

You can simply cut the pipe inside and put it in another larger diameter pipe , so larger diameter pipe would come outside of box for dispensing. Let smaller pipe hang inside that large pipe to avoid air seal. So that siphoning would be avoided. Don't change circuit. It works.

Ultrasonic Sensors can be used for making the circuit. but I don't think it can be used without a processor. IR sensor is a proximity sensor it will only see if there is something in its path, so we can use it directly. In case of ultrasonic sensors it's used for measuring the distance from the object and is having more range than IR sensor. so we need something to recognize the distance and switch on pump. You can use a solenoid valve instead of pump.

after you remove your hand, the flow will not stop, because of siphon effect. i.e. outlet end of pipe is held lower than the inlet end. therefore the tank will be emptied. (liquid passes freely through inlet to outlet within the motor too, . i suggest you need an solenoid valve too, to stop the flow. anyways good work, Cheers ;-)

It was a problem in the begining. After that I installed a valve to reduce the flow, but even after that it was dripping. So I cut a pen refiller and insert it inside the outlet tube. Now the problem is fixed. The fluid won't come out due to back pressure form air and surface tension. Thank you for the feedback and support.😀

Here the IR sensor is having +Ve 5V as default output and is supplied to the base, in this time there won't be any current flow inside transistor. When you show your hands IR module sense it and supply 0 volt as output, when the base is having a voltage drop the current flows from emitter to collector of the transistor and as the collector is attached to the motor, it will run the motor.

For this project you need:- a mini water pump, 1k resistor, IR module, 9V battery and some tubes. The melting device is called soldering iron and it's melting 'lead'.

No, if it's exposed to direct sunlight it will run continuously by detecting the IR rays present in sunlight, but still you can use it during daytime of its not directly exposed. I recorded this video at 2 pm outside my house and I didn't experience any problem. But next day morning when sunlight strike directly it stated working continuously.

You can make a pump using normal dc motor, but I can't be submerged in normal sanitizer. You have to place the pump outside the bottle.

If the problem persists then cut a pen refiller and insert it inside the tube, Then it will stop dripping due to surface tension.

Yes, you can use BD139, but it's an NPN transistor. BD140 is a PNP. So you have to modify the circuit. In NPN current flow will be in the opposite direction.

Yeah, sometimes IR sensors recieves false signals under direct exposure to sunlight as the sunlight is already having IR light. Still it will work fine in shades. But there are IR Sensors available in the market that can differentiate between sunlight and acutal signals. Thank you for the feedback 😀

Cut a data cable in half and connect the positive and negative wires (usually red and black) inside the cable to the IR module instead of the 9V battery adaptor. Connect the cable to a 5V 1A Power Supply/ Charger. It works better with 5V than 9V

9V Direct vekkunnathil kuzhappam illaa, But sensornte rated specified voltage 5V anu. So 7805 use cheyathal kure koode safe ayrikkum. Normal 9V batterikku capacity kurvanu, So use cheyyunne anusirichu pettennu thernnu pokum. So long term use anekil, it will be better if you use a changer or powerbank.
6V Camera batteries undu but athu expensive anu, elladom kittukayum illa. Pinne emergency light nu varunna 6V lead acid batteries kittum but athu size valuthanu.

battery will last only for few days, but if you connect it to a mobile charger, you can run it as long as you want.

In 5:30 I only meant it can reduce the flow rate, otherwise it will empty the Sanitizer in minutes. If it's dripping, then cut a pen refill and insert it inside the the outlet tube. Then it will stop dripping. Thank you for the feedback 😀

Bro, first of all this video is shot outside. If you extend the bottom portion surrounding the sensors, then you can use it outdoor. The problem is that if you are using it under sunlight it will pump continuously. As the sunlight is having too much IR light and it will give false information to the reciever.

That's because the one you are using is a normal IR sensor. Our sunlight is already having plenty of IR rays. So it will give false signal to the senor and it wills start working. The solution are 1. Keeping the set up inside the room, ie, is away form sunlight. 2. Or you can use a TSOP ir sensor instead of normal IR sensor
