Nice job. You forgot to mention the antenna wire that must come out of box for remotes to work correctly. Adding a piece of coax tv antenna wire between Ghost antenna and box, staple to you post so that the steel wire is over top of post will extend the range of remotes.

You saved me frustration on mounting the boxes, I took your post with panels idea and it worked out great. If lowes had the junction boxes I'd have done that too, but they don't. Either way, best video on this yet.

The opener model TSS1 is for tube gates and always includes the tube gate clamps for the opener. The only extra tube clamps you would need are for the zombie lock, if you choose to have one. The TSS1 does not come with the battery box though. Not a big deal if planning to use a deep cycle battery though.

Nice overview. I’m wondering if you could have removed the control panel and batteries from the factory boxes and just placed those in a single junction box, saving both cost and time. In any case, thanks for sharing this video!

That’s actually what I did only with a deep cycle car battery & used the AC maintainer instead of solar with flexible pvc conduit. (No chewing pups)

One the battery box do u still use the cover for the box it came with, or do u use the 12x12 cover instead.

I took³the smaller boxes that came with the control arm and mounted them inside of the Junction boxes for double protection. I would also recommend ordering a couple 2" vents and drilling a hole on the side of the junction boxes and put little breather vents on, it helps during hot summer hours especially with the battery box.

How does it hold up with just the single arm? On their site it suggests the dual arm for a 16ft gate

The gate I have weighs 70 lbs and the hinges will hold a substantial amount more weight than that. You can basicly push and pull the gate with your pinky finger with no effort so the single arm works well.

Do you have a problem with the gate reopening about 3 feet after it closes, maybe due to high winds or temp? I had to readjust my jog close once a month.

Yes, after high winds, I have noticed the same thing every once in a while.

So if I understood correctly If using a/c power connected to the transformer you wouldn't need the battery box or batteries or the solar panel. Btw 10 watt panel? That doesn't seem to be a lot of power to maintain batteries. Which is why I think a better install would be to run a/c power to the unit. I realize its only been a few months but any issues? Could've Should've Would'ves?

I have 3 vehicles going in and out a couples times each on average everyday. So far the power has been plenty sufficient and has held up on cloudy days with less charge and no issues. I have had this system in 6 degree temps and this gate opener has done well with not much lag being so cold. My only complaint using a sixteen foot gate is that some day's we experience high winds and the gate opener can struggle slightly to completely close enough for the zombie lock to latch if wind is blowing against the direction the gate is trying to move. We will see how long the batteries last now.

did the 4x4 post seem to work ok? or is it sagging at all?

The 4x4 was used for the control box and battery box location. I used 6x6 for the gate posts and they work great, when the post was first drying from pressure treatment I adjusted for a slight sag but not much at all after that.

I would LOVE to know if I don't have the lock if someone can simply push on the gate and open it?

Without the lock, it wouldn't take much to push the gate open against the tention the gate arm uses to hold it closed. I would recommend the lock as it will also keep the gate secure from extreme wind and weather conditions along with intruders.

Got the stuff at Lowes and the boxes are 12x12x6.

I like it but the little batterires are junk. I would either use a 30-watt solar panel with a marine or car battery or wire it to AC power. If you get days where it's cloudy and rainy or snowy at a time it doesn't charge those two little batteries enough, and then they start struggling a little.

My driveway is mostly in the shade. How will this affect the solar panel?

I would recommend getting a 30 amp solar panel to allow a faster charge when it is exposed to the sun. I would also recommend getting a larger marine battery. Depends on how many times you cycle the gate in and out more than usual or have a lot of people going through it. The bigger battery and bigger solar panel will definitely accommodate you without worrying about losing the charge because of mostly shade.

@@reviewittv1802 Thank you very much for your reply. Today I was actually thinking to just connect an AC transformer instead of using a solar panel. The problem is that my board has a terminal for the solar panel only. The one next to it that should be for an AC transformer is empty. Just has two metal dots, so I would have to solder. Do you think I can just plug the AC transformer wires into the solar terminal?

@plsniper no that would overload the solar terminal and may fry it. I am not sure why the Ac is empty. Ultimately, the Ac would be the most reliant if you can avoid solar. They both have ups and downs, solar is great, but weather and shade can affect its charge. AC would be usless if you have a power outage. It just depends on your climate.
