Shows you how to change the resolution of your 4K Fire TV Stick using 2 buttons on your remote control, this is handy if you have plugged your Fire TV Stick in to another TV and you get a black screen or No Signal or Invalid Resolution.

This also worked on my Insignia Amazon Fire TV-- ON MY INSIGNIA TV, there is a 9 second timer that comes up-- if you do nothing, the resolution stays the same-- ODDLY, to CHANGE the resolution, you need to select USE CURRENT RESOLUTION, which is misleading. Can't say for other TV's, but that's what happens 100% of the time on my Insignia TV (I hope this message finds it's way to Chris Waite)

When i go to "display and sounds" the display menu says "display settings" and all it shows are the inputs for the hdmi ports and the other video inputs, and no resolution changes

I am not sure that resolution is available but give it a try using this method it will tell you which resolutions are available to your screen.

If its not showing the option for 4k then try a different HDMI socket and also make sure that the firestick is plugged directly into the TV and not via another device!

I can only assume there is a fault with the Firestick, you need to contact Amazon for support, or try resetting your Firestick back to factory settings.

Please try leaving the stick switched on for at least 12 hours and see if it moves on.

Tried the 4k stick on fairly new sony and samsung tvs with no joy, i get 576p and 480p in corner of tv but screen stays black.

Make sure the stick is plugged directly into HDMI port on the TV do not use the extension cable also make sure the stick is powered by the supplied power adapter and not plugged into your TV's USB.

The maximum resolution of this screen is 1366 x766 you might be able to use 720 or lower on this screen.

@@vinaymishra06 Just follow the steps in the video and wait until the message appears telling you the resolution once that has appeared you will know what resolution is supported. It may take a few minutes for the screen to appear so you need to be patient.

unfortunately changing the resolution won’t make much of a difference to size, perhaps try your firestick on another TV to rule out an incompatibility with your TV.

Why does my 4k fire stick work normally on hdmi enhanced when the stick is plugged directly into the tv, but when I use an hdmi extension cable then I can see 4k (at least I believe it's 4) but only if the hdmi is set to standard mode?

The recommended length of HDMI cable for 4k is 3 meters (10 feet) if you are using an extension then this would make that limit shorter due to the signal degrading!

@@cwtek1 You're saying that the signal degrades more with extension hdmi cable than it does with regular cable? This doesn't make sense to me... It's just male/male plug vs male/female. That wpuld also mean that you can't have an extension or a regular cable (male/male) longer than 1,5m and have the hdmi mode set to enhanced The extension is plugged in the tv directly on one end and the fire stick is on the other end

@@igorstimac8993 The problem is because there is a join in the cable with an extension the join causes quite a bit of resistance, also the length of cable does too but not as much as a join in the cable, this is why the Extension cable supplied with the firestick is so short.
