Yeah, as people have probably figured out, you could just export the subtitle and then paste that into a decent automatic translator. It's not ideal but it's still better than writing them out by hand.

Thanks for the update Alex! Finally, the reason to get the Studio version is growing stronger! I'm going to hold just a tiny bit more, until they provide the ability to control the size of the gaps. I would also like to see them automatically remove oohs, aahs, and uuhms. Thanks for all you do Alex!

A program called ‘Recut’ does give you control on the length of those silence gaps Alex if you are looking for more control. You can then export to a XML timeline (with and without those silence cuts included), or to brand new video file without the silences.

Upgraded to Studio after your first beta update for subtitles and transcriptions. Just seemed like a game changer to me! I reckon what would be handy is the ability to change colours of the subtitles for certain words or even different speakers (currently changing even a highlighted word changes the colour for all the subtitle text), as well as letting us use animation on them for them to pop in/up etc. Likewise having an option to change certain subtitle text to different font styles or bold/italics that doesn’t effect the whole subtitle set would be cool too. Overall though I’ve been loving playing around with Studio since I got it, keep up the awesome videos!

Moving away from the AI in the subtitle and caption area, I’d also love for them to expand into AI for EQ and other areas of audio. I always find I’m doing a lot of guess work as someone relatively new to video and content creation, so having an idea what my voice should be recorded like with an AI EQ would be super handy.

I agree with you. Davinci Studio did the job halfway. We should add a parameter that allows us to say what maximum duration of silence we accept. Davinci studio leaves far too much silence, and has made something less functional than some free tools. It's very disappointing to see that one paid tool does the job after the others and less well.
@Graham_Rule Жыл бұрын
Thanks. +1 for some way to choose the length of silences to leave in. Mostly I'm editing recorded lectures which have a very different pace from a typical youtube video. And very often those pauses are where my brain is trying to catch up with what the lecturer has just said. But great for removing the time while I was running around trying to get a roving mic to the next person wanting to speak. Now if it could automatically remove all the "not so much a question as a point I'd like to make in a 'question' nearly as long as the original lecture ...", that *would* be great. 😁

One of my pet hates is KZbin videos that have been edited to within an inch of their life to remove silences or pauses. The words come at the viewer like a never-ending stream of sound with no breathing space, no comprehension gaps, and no natural rhythm or cadence. As a lecturer to very large, live classes of over 500 students, I'm very aware of pacing a presentation to allow for maximum comprehension. If I stood on stage and gabbled out an entire lecture at high speed with no gaps, I'd be booed off and nobody would turn up to my next lecture. KZbin videos seem to have taken this habit to extremes - yours are rapid but still listenable (mostly ;) ) but some other channels are so fast and continuous that the viewer's brain doesn't have time to comprehend. There's a big difference between hearing and comprehending! This new "Delete Silences" is a potent weapon, but very likely to be overused.

Hey Alex - a tech question for you that will be SUPER quick if you know the answer. Some of my language nerd friends are wondering if Black Magic's Neural Engine is just OpenAI's Whisper under the hood? Or is it an entirely separate engine? Quid pro quo here's a little bit of info for you... the fact that it can do Danish shows how powerful it is. Danish is known to be so difficult to discern one syllable from another that even Danish toddlers are slower to pick up their native language than anywhere else in the world. If you'd talked about auto speech to text software for Danish even 7 years ago, everyone would have laughed at you.

I’m just so excited for editing from the script! It would be cool if you could drop a pre-written script in and have AI figure it out. I just had a client video last week where I had the original script, and the voice over, and I had to cut the voiceover down to fit. It really didn’t take super long but was still an hour or two of billable time, I could do it in a fraction of the time by just dropping the script in and having da Vinci only pull up those parts. Obviously though I can still cut it down using these built-in features. Also, I haven’t checked, can you search the script? The number one thing I would like to see them put in right now is either auto pod or their own equivalent

Hi Alex are you or anyone having a problem either creating or using ProRes for file rendering. I have found if I have either render my Canon files or proxies (within DaVinci) set to ProRes it cannot make them and in the case of render, renders out the file and then because it has not created it comes up missing media. In the case of proxies it just says it cannot make them. If I then change all to DNX files for proxies and rendering everything is just fine. I am using a MacBook Pro M1 and the problem hs existed in the last two updates. I did report it and nothing has happened in this latest update.
