Hi Grant great video, starting to plan installing a 5m sliding gate. at the moment to get our caravan out i remove a fence panel and a removable gate pos with its gate. doing this clears enough space to get the van out. as the van moves it travels over lawn with one wheel and the other is on the driveway. but to my question .... the sliding gate itself looks to need a deep bottom rail so that the rack etc can attach. are these available in styles commonly used in these 19mm rod type gate panels ( sorry having trouble describing the type of thing)

Explained very well! Just one question, does the track on the ground create a puddle of water after rain?
@automaticGatesExplained3 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of, rain does get under the track as it isn't water tight.

What a great video for anyone to understand what might at first seem complex. We have a sliding gate which was comes off its track regularly. The installer say it’s because the steel frame on one side is exposed to sun and expands more than the other side creating warping in the 8 meter wide frame. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Are using an angle iron bar as rails? If yes try to replace it with a round bar welded on a channel iron bar. For this case the wheel too should be with U-shaped groove instead of V-shaped groove.

Nicely done video. Do you prefer the track on the ground vs the rail about half way up where the gate has wheels half way up that ride on the rail? I was going to do the rail system but I can see where a track on the ground seems more economical. Any other pluses to your system vs the other?

I want to install a sliding gate and my driveway is flat except for one side, it's slopes down maybe 5-6cm or so, would a small slope at the end of the gates travel effect it much? It slopes down in the direction the gate will travel, and the slope will be on the end of the gate not the motor side. Any help is appreciated thank you, your videos have helped allot

Grant, love the videos, very to the point & no fluff. I have a question about motor placement. I want to place the motor where the gate ends rather than up close to the driveway opening. ( i need to try & have that space clear if possible) could i do this? if i shouldn't, could you please let me know why? thanks, just about to dig my posts & lay my foundation thanks to you!

Which type of metal do you recommend for the track Aluminum or Galvanized steel? I see both and I trying to choose for a tropical environment.
@automaticGatesExplained9 ай бұрын
We normally use Aluminium track because it looks nicer, has no holes pre-drilled so you can drill holes where you want and doesn't rust. Galvanized steel normally has holes pre-drilled in it that quite often end up right on a crack in a driveway and if you cut or drill it, which you normally need to do it can rust. It also looks more industrial.

How to increase the gate's height if the roller bearing is welded instead of fastened? I am facing a problem the gate is getting too low to get in contact with the motor. Anyway to overcome this? Layer up the track? Height adjust gear rack?

Great vid, just starting on mine, just one question, 4:45 not more than 2 wheels, ok so no matter the size of the gate (ex:6m) should still go with 2 wheels whit heavier load capacity I guess. But the placement of the wheel that bothers me a bit...any advice? Thanks in advance.. keep up the good work!!
@automaticGatesExplained3 жыл бұрын
Yes two wheels is best with heavier load capacity and better bracing of the gate when they are larger. If they are really large ie.>10m then more than two can be used because if the gate can flex with the track. For details on placement of the wheels see www.grantsautomation.com.au/index.php?page=38

Hey just wondering, I'm trying to make a very secure gate, what stops someone from strolling up with a prybar and poping it off the rails??
@yaohoukpati11722 жыл бұрын
A bracket or the gate catcher is installed such that the gate will not be lifted more than 5mm. Another added security by centurion is the gate vibration censor tat comes with the Centurion D5 Smart motor. This motor detects the tampering of the gate or the motor itself and the alarm sounds off.
@jayscott9564 Жыл бұрын
Okay our gate was done just like this. But when we have wind coming of the street it twists it and stops it from going into the catcher. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Angle the jaws of the catcher to create a bigger space for the gate to enter.

How does it work in the snow?
@automaticGatesExplained Жыл бұрын
We don't have snow where I'm from so this is only speculation, I'd say a sliding gate would push through snow much easier than a swing gate would and is likely not to work well if there is a lot of snow but then you wouldn't be able to drive through this anyway.

Is it possible to install a rolling fence along the perimeter of a property (60 feet) that turns at least once because I am across the street from a park? I love the open view but my wife wants a close backyard for gardening. I am trying to satisfy both of us. I want as much undisturbed view as possible. Back yard is about 60 feet by 40 feet.

Hi thank you for the information as it is very helpful. By the way, I am curious, what software did you use for this presentation? Do you require vast knowledge to prepare such presentation??
@automaticGatesExplained3 жыл бұрын
I'm pleased you liked it. I use 3DS Max for the 3D animation, After Effects for 2D Animation, Illustrator for Vector graphics (arrows etc...), Audition for sound effects creation and Premiere Pro for video editing. It does require vast knowledge of the topic the video is about, film making technique and creation of the artwork.

Thanks. I'm interested in those automatic sliding gates I've been seeing here on KZbin that turn 90 degrees to fit smaller spaces. What if the track needs to go over a driveway with pavers?
@johnwesley69292 жыл бұрын
Put ckncrete underneath or use screws dirwctly to the pavers. The best way is w/concrete. If you attach it to the pavers or use pins the pavers will become lose over time. The track will not lift in most cases but the pavers will become loose and it will make a clap noise each time you drive over it.
