Having these insights provides a valuable guideline for us. It prepares us to adapt, and like you mentioned, develop the essential skills to become a product maker. From my perspective, I'm very optimistic about the future of AI in the design industry. Automation will save significant time, allowing us to focus on what truly matters, like research and skill development. Thank you, Vy. Your content is outstanding, and I've learned so much from you.

Until research is automated as well… and i wonder what is going to happen then… will we just be making more products with same amount of designers / makers or will the workforce get reduced by like 90% forcing people on UBI and government dependency?

Hmm, I do not entirely agree, but good food for thought. The low code - no code tools have been around for almost 8 - 9 years, if not more; when we think we are close to that, something else comes up. Maybe we shift from repetitive tasks to more thoughtful experimental studies since we will have time and the learning curve will diminish drastically. Anyone is already a designer today, the same as anyone is already a photographer or a chef; having access to the tool does not make you a professional. I envision less repetitive tasks shifting to more experimentation and prototype; we will start to worry more about the template level because the base will be done instantaneously, opening up a new pandora's box of problems and opportunities. Interesting times.

I feel that Al in the future will be able to analyse user patterns very quickly which is a major part of the UX process today. But you will always need humans to interpret them successfully as per the needs of each product/company because putting in millions of dollars just on the basis of a computer estimate is bound to be risky. Connecting Al data with real life users and correlating them to work for a business’s benefit will always require human touch.

You seem to be just talking so easily about this stuff… do you have any concerns about all this? I wonder what is going to happen then… will we just be making more products with same amount of designers / makers or will the workforce get reduced by like 90% forcing people on UBI and government dependency?

By the logic here.. everyone is/can be a writer. I don’t think design will ever be fully automated. Unless we can automate thought Best case is developers get a lean prototype to architect (using extisting frame works) Or product managers but still quite a bit of set back

generative models = mental models = thought at its first principles; capture enough of these with automation and you can automate anything. because of the tactical nature of product design (UI bias) it's a matter of time, not if. Everything else as mentioned before is of course will take longer, but also eventually be captured.

@@vaexperience actually I think you mean conceptual models (think, understand,”simulate”) Tactical nature, but mental is how people perceive the world. By nature of mental models it can be very subjective by culture hence why a design system for like ibm carbon is so different from a design system like material design. And even with AI they would never be the same

@@vaexperience fundamental argument is an essay by one of my professors. A sterile world is not possible…. Simple because humans just get bored. AI will just multiply the generic/compound but the fundamental thought,(mental model) is the core experience

@@Ornches yes in the context of ux this applies, ui production not so much

AI will probably also do the coding and all straight from Figma, a product will be made and launched in a matter of hours! even user testing will be done with AI modeled after real people therefore making everything automatic and speed through the entire process with accurate data.💀
