The warm coat doesn't stop them from getting the chilly effect but increases their cold tolerance similar to rimworld, except that it's based on conduction. So if it the environment is cold enough, they'll still get the effect. I haven't tested this but i've noticed this most often with dupes running through liquids that are -30c, when the same temp in only gas doesn't affect them. Otherwise they'll get it in a -50c gaseous environment. Of course this only applies to dupes that aren't immune to the effect.

Dammit Francis, i watch your videos to NOT think about work :P Btw, if you find the temperature overlay useless because everything is blue, you can enable "Relative temperature" in the top right, and drag the slider. I set mine to -25C and that suddenly gave a much better representation of temperature ranges. I had no mods active when i noticed this, so it's part of the game now.

As I understand, the warm coats protect dupes from being cold but only up to a point. Get them really cold and it won't work, same with getting them wet / soggy feet - that also makes them cold. Cinnabar Ore is fairly abundant (at least on the Frosty Spaced Out asteroid) and is only used for Mercury which overall isn't that much of a needed material. So don't feel bad for using the ore. There is also a neat new decor item - a 1x1 wood carving. Might be a good thing to bedazzle the base with! As for oxylite into oxygen room, you could just put the oxylite on a rotating rail segment that gets topped up whenever the oxylite disappears!

Idea to fix Oxylite room. I really like the entire oxylite setup and the concept of running the base oxygen from those plants! 1. Run a long conveyer rail inside the oxylite room. that should help oxylite of gassing keeping a good pressure. 2. Remove the shut off shute outside of the room. as oxilyte only of gasses while pressure is under 1800 we should always have a rail full of oxylite 3. multiple weight sensors and dropoffs like the one you have now. with same setup. so 1 weight controles 1 dropoff. I believe that the weight will detect when the oxylite vaporizes completely and then the system should add new oxylite. This should have the benefit of giving 4 different backup lumps of oxylite. As always thanks for the great video!

10:40 this only applies if the food is in an atmosphere. If it's stored in vacuum, the refigerated/deep frozen depends on the food's temperature. (FJ did a showcase on this in a previous series, cooling down metal tiles to about -60°C or so, run the food through and dropped off in a vacuum. I'm still using this in my rockets, so hasn't been changed with the Frosty Update)

With a net positive on wood, maybe it's time to decor bomb the living area? Wood Tiles; a nice decor boon across 3 tiles (unlike regular tiles that only spreads it's decor one tile). With all the heat being generated, i'd say it's better to get ahead of packed snow tiles melting (Personally learned this the hard way, having 3 dupes trapped after 7 tiles just vanished, and the game never telling me until someone (all three of them) made a mess)

I can't believe you're not making Soufflees, they only take raw egg and 2 sleet wheat grain, and give the same morale bonus as BBQ. I'm not even harvesting the wild sleet wheat, but somehow I have over 300 cycles worth of it in the freezer, I've completely stopped the spikeapple farming and cooking as I have tons of the stuff now (cycle 160ish 16 dupes). On a side note, the Bammoth need a serious re-balance, I can't keep half of them fed, even with a stable full of squash, and harvesting every wild squash on the map, it's gotten so bad that I'm seriously considering ranching the seals for more ethanol, to grow more squash. I do, however, have reed fiber for days. lol On a side note, this dlc introduces an interesting mechanic, keeping your base cold enough to freeze the food, and grow crops, as even the basic toilets and wash basins begin spreading enough heat that snow tiles melt, sigh. I'm gonna steal your automation loops though, as I generally only use automation in my ranches, to collect eggs and what-not.

Pips planting into entombed pot works with alveovera, eliminating the need for ice and growing at domestic rate. I never built any oxygen production or carbon scrubbing in 500 cycles and have a surplus of 300 tons of oxylite. Also works with bonbon trees, for free nectar or wood; although bonbons in flower pots can't feed seals and can't remove entombment of the pot on their own.

someone forgot to remove the bottled pee from the food storage area.. ;) the usage of the new pieces is very much apprechiated, but i say it again: ethanol distillers seem like the natural solution to build a bridge between foxes, beefalos and your oxygen production. no need for that co2 vent i'd think. fertilizer setups aren't amazing but at least they don't require dupe interactions and can therefore be walled in. it's kinda similar to SPOM setups, just way less efficient.

For your evolution chamber, how about a conveyor receptacle? Floxes produce more kcals per cycle as Omelette (467kcal/cycle) than BBQ(333kcal/cycle) or even Pemmican(433kcal/cycle). If you simply let unused eggs in a conveyor receptacle, they will automatically crack after 10 cycles (which is quicker than the 20 cycles they need to hatch) and all you need to do at this point is cook the raw egg. Later on, you can even automate the cooking since raw egg automatically turns into omelette when heated to 70 celcius. You might also want to upgrade your pikeapple farm into another flox ranch. Not only do floxes give more calories than the pikeapple they eat (778kcals/cycle of omelette per plant instead of 400). At this point, the additional 5kg of dirt they poop and their 360 kg of wood every 6 cycles are just a bonus. I think the lack of need to harvest the plants, the lower composting need and the smaller cooking labor need should more than makeup for the grooming labor. You're eventually gonna need an evolution chamber for your bammoths though, but that's a different story.

I wouldn't worry about using cinnabar as a building material, you can always reclaim it later. Otherwise its only other use is a conductive liquid. If you refine it into mercury, it'll have a temp range of -38.8c to 356.8c for it's liquid state, a thermal conductivity of 8.3, and specific heat capacity of 0.14. The only other liquid that competes with mercury is nuclear waste. The main difference is the temp range (26.9 - 526.9), a conductivity of 6, and SHC of 7.44. So more accessible than waste since you get it from the start and don't have to setup a reactor to produce prodigious amounts, can be used below 0c for cooling, and there is free solid mercury on the map, so you don't have to refine cinnabar. Waste's only benefit over mercury is its SHC, making cooling more efficient since you magically delete heat using an aquatuner. Mercury can technically be used as a building material, but that would require building rooms that are below -40c, and most of our refined metal use tends to be well above that temp. The only other use for mercury that I'm aware of is the mercury ceiling lamp, which emits 60000 lux with a range of 8 tiles for 130 g/s of mercury, 60w of power, and 1 kDTU/s of heat. For comparison, a sunlamp emits 40000 lux with a range of 16 tiles for 960w of power and 5 kDTU/s of heat. I think the idea behind it is to make it the fluorescent bulb equivalent as opposed to the sunlamp's halogen bulb.

Maybe you are preventing it by picking it up with sweepers right away when the Alveo Vera are harvested, but 1.8KG of Ethanol on the ground would 100% prevent it. Still something to be aware of/test more through than I just have, with a 5x5 box of 250g/tile CO2, 3 pieces of oxylite on the floor, in less then 5 mins all the CO2 is gone. I think you might have once used this to delete CO2 in rockets with a box of oxylite.

@cyrusmagnus5 ай бұрын
@@KainYusanagi Honestly the whole "room to make oxygen in" felt unnecessary. You can put a gas pump and use the same trick with the "no power filter" to filter only oxygen into the masks. Then just have it next in an area you know will, generally, have oxygen (such as right next to the masks). It'll only run when it's refilling masks, if the mask is full it stays off. No conveyor belts, no automation, no extra rooms, no refined metal required. Run the stuff that isn't oxygen off into a gas storage. You might even snag random "other" gases you don't want and keep them safely stored away till you do.
